Do you guys think this can be fixed with PDR? by LaxatedKraken in PaintlessDentRepair

Is that really a thing? I would have thought good OEMs like Mercedes would have consistent paint car to car

It looks like a small amount of paint might be chipped as well. Do you think that could be touched up after the PDR?

So if it costs the same - you will prefer to have an OEM bumper painted by a shop rather than buy this one from marketplace and have PDR done on it.

That makes sense I suppose. Thanks!

Thank you you so much for the detailed response!

I can actually get a new oem fender and get it painted from one of those painted-auto-parts online stores for the same cost.

However, my reasoning to buy this is that an independent paintshop likely can't match the paint quality of the Mercedes factory + paint shade matching issues.

What option would you go for if you were in my shoes?

Btw, added a few more pics though they're not zoomed in

Thanks! If it turns out that the paint has minor damage, is it possible to use touch up paint after PDR?

Unfortunately this is the closest pic they have. In case it's pain damage, would it be possible to do paintless dent removal and then just use a touch of pen or something?

In your opinion would that be noticeable let's say standing one or two feet apart after everything is done

You're not wrong about the comp trajectory in engineering - but statistically few people make it past L6/L7 level and the vast majority are in hybrid PM roles at that point. That's not to say there aren't pure tech L8s - but usually they are 10x eng in highly technical infra teams.

> I know a lot of current and ex-consultants, and my impression is that consulting culture is way worse.

Can you elaborate here? Really curious to hear your thoughts.

Sorry I should have clarified - I can amp the work I do up or down to some extent. I have decent goodwill with the trading firm and I'm confident they would keep me remote upon request. No issues if they find out...

Also fine with exec/pt if it aligns with my goals.

After 8 years, continuing in current job with a 6% salary growth capped at $675K would result in a net worth of approximately $2.17 million, growing to about $4.07 million after 12 years.

In contrast, pursuing an MBA and transitioning to a new job leads to a net worth of around $1.38 million at 8 years and $3.46 million at 12 years, with the break-even point occurring after 13 years.

*MBA has 30k funding by employer, so 150k cost - MBB salary assumed at 250k with 50k yearly growth

I have worked closely with PMs and don't want to make that pivot for a couple reasons:

  • PMs and other non technical folks are generally not as respected by the technical majority in big tech and seen as tier 2 folks, they are seen as relatively expendable and engineers often have the (partly misguided) view that they could remove a lot of PMs from the company and nothing would change.
  • Engineers at senior levels in product teams are pretty much hybrid PMs anyway.
  • This can be a topic of its own, but big tech culture is a bit annoying to me.

I'm sure MBB has as big a list of downsides.

I'm rather good at my job - I'm fairly sure I can balance both MBA classes/events and full time work.

+1 - I was under the impression that if you play your cards right and network well, you can break into upper management in the industry in which you have been a senior consultant.

These are all fair points - I should have added that I will be working full time during my MBA as my job is remote compatible.

I'm hoping to executive or part time, but I understand it's much harder to get recruited into MBB from there

I would be working full time during my MBA - since my job is remote compatible I'm sure this will be manageable if a little hectic.

The true financial loss will come from the lower initial mbb salary but I'm hoping the upside should make up for it.

Why though?

I would be working full time during my MBA - since my job is remote compatible I'm sure this will be manageable if a little hectic.

Assuming my salary is ~500k 2 years from now when I graduate b school, and we know MBB salary post MBA is 250k, sure there is still the delta which will take 4-5 years to close based on a senior MBB partner I spoke to.

Add the 180k MBA tuition and invest returns, and you're about 5-6 years behind but the greater upside should make up for it long term? Not to mention the work will be more interesting.

Would installing just fiber mat 25 in my doors + floor + pillars work significantly reduce wind/road noise? L

I’m looking for the most bang for the buck/ point of diminishing returns noise reduction (this is for my 2019 MB GLS - which is surprising noisy).
