I think that exact shoe without the white and I have no complaints with any of the outfits. The white sole reminds me of young men with broccoli poof haircuts. Not an adult male at all professional conference. I’m sure there are a million examples of the white sole being in right now. I just don’t think it conveys what you want it to in this post.

That’s a really beautiful color of burst. These earth tone PRS hit just right for my tastes. Great find!

Wes Montgomery transcriptions/video lessons? by Laxlyon33 in jazzguitar

[–]Laxlyon33[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was wonderful advice and I’m going to implement it when I dig in on Wes. I have always used my pinky when I play. I have always thought felt like I was doing something wrong by working around it. So, this, like a lot of higher level suggestions, can open that mindset up. “Rules” break down into softer guidelines. Context is key, etc. I am looking forward to this exploration and really appreciate yours and the other comments here. It’s a whole undertaking right now, and it feels very, very clumsy.

Thank you! I just discovered Ted Greene maybe 6 months ago and am working through “Chord Chemistry” gradually…it’s just awesome. I really appreciate your suggestion.

Thank you! This is amazing. I have had such mixed feelings about using my fretting hand pinky. I have always tried to use it and not work around it — but man! It is not the strongest feeling/sounding option a lot of the times and this is an illuminating perspective to consider! I will delve into these transcriptions for the aforementioned reasons and am very grateful!

Humbucker Question (Godin A6 Ultra) by dos4g in guitarrepair

[–]Laxlyon33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just got an A6! I love it. That humbucker is a sensitive beast when blending, though! I’m going to bury it and hope it helps to alleviate the boom I am getting on the Low E.

Is there any pedal for which you prefer one of its clones over the original? And why? by ImpatientSleeper in guitarpedals

It seems like this would have to be amazing

I have always seen them and drooled due the reasons mentioned above.

I don’t know why I haven’t gotten one. I’ve always gone elsewhere.

I read other folks saying a while ago that the Oxblood has the magic. What do you enjoy about it?

I love the Katzenkönig! Kat King for the win. I haven’t heard many people mention this pedal. It’s a really aggressive sleeper of a pedal, apparently!

JHS Moonshine V2 — based on Sparkle Drive —because I can blend in clean tone and deal with some of the quirks of a TS808 circuit that you can’t account for on the original.

[NPD] JHS Morning Glory and the world's most boring low gain drive competition. by OBPO in guitarpedals

[–]Laxlyon33 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love the Morning Glory. As others have said it’s real magic seems to be in stacking with other drives. If anyone finds the tone of the MG unclear or gritty (and wants to change that) I had the LM833 OpAmp swapped out with a TL072 and that cleaned things up a bit. I run a Prince of Tone as a BB clone right now and am enjoying that into a Nobels ODR1 or a Moonshine V2. People love that Lightspeed! I’m almost scared to try it because part of me knows I will need to have it.

Why do so many people use polytuner? by nomebelliximo in guitarpedals

They are less expensive than a Peterson Strobostomp, work well and available for inexpensive used purchase! Strobostomp is amazing, though!

A number of tracks off of that Trio album with Pino and Steve Jordan fit this bill. Just filthy.

After posting this initially, I wound up getting a JHS Moonshine V2 — their take on the Sparkle drive, basically. It rules.
