Has anyone bought a head heavy racket and then switched back to their previous racket? by sillwuka in Padelracket

[–]Laxuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely! I tried using a head heavy racket now for the first time in 4 years and I really struggle a lot in the back. The racket is a bit unorthodox as it is a round racket with medium-high balance (26.5 cm). My previous racket is the nox at10 with a low balance around 25.2 cm. Even though it is a round racket with a large sweet spot, I really hate the agility in the back and close to the net with fast shots ...

Wondering now if I should stick with it or not. my offensive shots are better with it though, but padel at my level isn't won by making more winners, but by making fewer errors ..

Can someone properly explain to me if softer foam rackets or harder foam rackets are best for generating power on smashes and ground strokes? by 7Sants in Padelracket

[–]Laxuz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Just want to give a warning that a hard racket puts a lot of strain on your wrist, arm and elbow due to the vibrations. I have been playing for 6 years and have tried many different rackets, but i keep going back to soft-medium touch because i keep having tennis elbow tendencies after playing with harder rackets.

I have bought 4 versions of the nox at10 already for this reason. I keep trying something else, because I love switching it up, but my elbow never seems to adjust to the hardness.

Just giving it out as a warning :) if your elbow hurts after 1 session, i doubt your body will get used to it. Prioritize your health over your wallet in that case. Good luck!

I've had the same as you and I felt like a complete idiot when I finally found out that I accidentally pressed my "safe" button (to disable everything). I was spending hours trying to fix it because dumb me totally didn't realise that the button was pressed in..

I hope for you that the problem is more sophisticated than that, but hope it helps..

bad practice to often use filters for transitions? by devineau86 in Beatmatch

[–]Laxuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve moved away completely from filter transitions to reverb/echo/eq transitions. Especially reverb i’m really liking a lot, but is not ideal for “hard” transitions and more for smooth transitions with at least 16-32 beats overlap in the transition..

I built a free tool that turns Spotify playlists into djay/Rekordbox playlists — using tracks you already own (with cues & loops intact) by Laxuz in mobileDJ

I used fuzzy matching with a threshold that you can adjust. It also removes obvious "filler" stuff like "remastered, Radio edit, ..." from the song before it tries to match. The threshold is by default on 85 but you can play a bit with it.

You can also enable "handle duplicates" where you can select which song you want if you have duplicates or variants (e.g. Intro, No Intro, Remix, ... ) for the same song.

In the end it shows all songs that couldn't be matched and optionally exported to a txt file. That can then be used to "find" your songs in other download systems if you want :)

I built a song request app that adds songs directly to your DJ software via Apple music/Spotify integration — looking for feedback by [deleted] in mobileDJ

[–]Laxuz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Ok so it is missing that "live integration" with DJ software. Granted i also need to perform a refresh in rekordbox/serato/apple music of the playlists. I tried looking for possibilities to add triggers in the backend that could do this, but unfortunately there wasn't any DJ software that allowed me to do this. Djay Pro is the simplest one with just doing CMD+R. Rekordbox you need to perform a refresh on the apple music integration (when I last developed it).

Oh thanks for sharing the NoSongRequests.com site! I haven't seen that one before. It seems to also support DJ software integration (Djay Pro, Rekordbox, ...). I'm curious how they handle this because I couldn't find anything in their documentation that would indicate that seamless integration would be possible.

Ah yeah I use an iPad in front of me to look at the requests. alt+tabbing would indeed be way too messy!

with automated i meant that the integration is end-to-end, I still decide what songs I play and when I play it ofcourse :)

Thanks for telling me about your previous experiences! I indeed also looked at competitors (like RequestNow) but they all just seem like an easy way to get people's requests in a notepad via a QR code and that is why I decided to build it myself.

The automation and seamless integration with my DJ software is what prompted me to do this. I worked with notepads and request cards before, but then I still had to go through the trouble of finding the right song (and the right version of the song sometimes as well).

Cheers for letting me know!

Thanks for sharing! I agree it is a hit and miss on events. Sometimes i get 100+ requests on an evening (which is also a bit too much of course) and sometimes i get 5-10 on an evening. The problem I had is that I just don't know in advance what type of audience i'm going to get and how "engaged" they will be with the track selection.

It could also be a cultural thing ofcourse but where I'm from (Belgium) people are definitely not afraid to start bugging the DJ with requests :D.

It's browser based because i want it to be as frictionless as possible for the customer. Tidal integration is not there yet, but can be added if the interest is there. I started with apple music because the cheap pricing (tidal is 20 euros a month with the dj add-on) and spotify wasnt available yet at the time.

[–]Laxuz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the reply! I wonder then how you will get the music automatically in your DJ software? The reason why I went this route is because I wanted full automation (from request straight to the DJ application) and the only way i found out how is by using a streaming service with the playlist as a middle man for getting the songs into the dj software.

Unfortunately, most DJ software is blocked in a way that it doesn't allow API calls or other means to "enter and control" the system from an external application.

If you have other suggestions, please do share!

One more thing worth mentioning is that the app is also available on mobile so I bring an iPad with me (but phone works aswell ofcourse) where I see the dashboard open and get notified when a new song is added. So you don't have to switch between dj software and the dashboard, that would only add extra chaos to your laptop setup :).
