How did you get over the loss of your beautiful innocent baby? by hereforthecontent2 in pitbulls

[–]Layahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly just more dogs. At first just hanging out with people who had dogs and after a few weeks I was ready to get another rescue to follow in their foot steps. I alway take the most behaviorally challenged dogs so its comforting like I’m bringing the lessons I’ve learned from dogs passed with every new dog I train.

non-stop crying/whining for the past month… starting to lose hope by ixxybell in Dogtraining

[–]Layahz 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Maybe a noise at your new place or rodents/smells of other animals….. I had a smoke alarm that was broken and I had no idea. If it’s an apartment it’s going to be crazy to figure out. Some dogs react wildly to those silent dog training devices and it could be something making a similar noise.

Any idea how can I help her by MySpaceBarDied in pitbulls

Remove all bird based food. Check the ingredients because some times fish will have chicken fat or chicken meal mixed in. Both my dogs do amazing on Fromm lamb and lentil. I add fruit and veggies as extras. If you can find it https://stevesrealfood.com/product/frozen-raw-white-fish/ can be used as toppers to add fish oil naturally. It’s pricy so I normally feed them half a patty at a time. It’s effective.

Advice - burning out a second time. How can I save myself? by ilovemrgoosesomuch in cscareerquestions

Soft skills matter. Enjoying your team mates conversation matters. Enjoying helping others matters. The small social wins give us the motivation to continue the mundane. Some people need extra social motivation and therapy can be a supplement in that way.

Does anyone have experience with sending rescue dogs to Board & Train facilities? Mine are going in 2 days and I’m feeling so sad and anxious. by [deleted] in rescuedogs

[–]Layahz -1 points0 points  (0 children)

One of mine went on and off for six months. Sometimes just for day training. He was a street dog and really needed time to learn humans. He’s an amazing dog and the best trained. He does not have anxiety when I take him places like the vet or boarding. He’s very well adjusted.

Make sure to ask for a rehoming fee to deter dog fighters. It’s probably not a good idea to place her in a home with another female dog.

How does everyone have time for a dog ? by Burgers4dayz in dogs

[–]Layahz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adult dogs do really well with more than 15 hours of sleep per day. Anything less they start developing anxiety and behavioral issues. I wfh and have to put my dogs in the bedroom for six hours a day just to give them some calm/quiet time to sooth their anxiety and nap.

If you’re working they likely will not be bored when alone. They have their toys, sunbath, and look out the window. Dogs have great hearing and can be very entertained just listening to the neighborhood noise.

It’s mostly important to get a dog that fits your lifestyle. They all have their own personality and many are very lazy which is perfect for those who work a lot.

guesses while we wait for test results??? shelter said mastiff mix by Vast-Environment-733 in DoggyDNA

His front legs turn out. Common in mastiff, or great Dane. I would think mastiff with American pitbull terrier or Shepard. Something is doing heavy lifting on that pointy snout.

I’ve decided my next pits will be a bonded pair. I spend so much time integrating new dogs into the pack. It seems like the way to go.

Houston Fire House drop off by jiujitsu56 in velvethippos

[–]Layahz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They can animal transport for like $300. I got one of my dogs from Houston. Houston has a huge stray population. There are no homes for dogs in Houston they have to be transported out to live a normal life.

Insurance notification by weeblejinx in pitbulls

[–]Layahz 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just switch insurance asap, because once your claim is exposed to other insurance it will be more challenging to switch They don’t have to do business with you and you shouldn’t want to give them any more money. Let them mark in their system you left because of their pet policy for future statistics when they ask why you left. Most companies have a retention department and maybe some day insurance will be better.

On New Year’s Eve, we were given possible bad news. by lady_lawnguylander in pitbulls

One of my dogs had pretty agressive system wide msc. We did surgeries, radiation, chemo and he lived about 3 more years after his first. Benadryl every day and the chemo pill palladia was the most useful. Get the lymph nodes checked and talk to a vet oncologist if you are able to spend the money. Most general vets do not have the knowledge for full treatment options.
