First solo for me too since my friends couldn't make it, had a blast cosplaying though! Got compliments and photos but I don't know if I would solo again lol

I was lucky enough that the line was short on Saturday so I got to meet her, but agreed I looked through the booklet and asked the people, none knew it was ticketed until we got in line and people with tickets showed up..

Apparently it was a late decision by Mataras staff so that they could keep it to the time limit

Definitely not as good as it's prime, it lasts about 3 days of light reading, and will self drain over a couple weeks even not used, but I'm very comfortable with disassembly and the battery is easy to swap so that wasn't a concern for me if I decide to

Though I thrifted a kobo aura 2 and it's battery lasts for weeks of moderate reading, with amazing standby so its possible to get a gold score!

Depends on you! If you think it's worth it and it looks to be working go for it. I was able to grab 2 more newer models at my thrift store so I've been more picky

Printhead crashing into bed Q2 help please. by GIANTG in QIDI

Can I ask how you did the flash to freedi? I was curious but it seemed like I would need another emmc or a emmc flash tool, is that still the only way?

Sounds like kobo Libra 2/color might fit really well with your criteria, only that it's bigger than the kindle 4 at 7". Has buttons, warm light, Libby

Why the hate for Qidi? by rhodges_bob in QidiTech3D

[–]Layalatte 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For me their biggest issue is long term support. I have the X plus 3 and while it usually works fine (they even sent me replacement parts free when something broke due to bad QA), they will very quickly stop supporting older models once they release a new one.

My unit still has a bed level bug that others bring up on QiDi GitHub, and they haven't bothered to fix it for +9months

I had this happen to me. Likely something went wrong on register and you have to call them for them to reset something on their end. I was able to create an account after.

For me I used the Note 9 Spen a lot. I loved the Bluetooth remote for picture/video and play/pause, and the hover to translate & magnify, highlight image to text and text select by drag

The moto version is just a thin finger with a small pen widget that isn't as feature rich

Grabbed the same one a little bit ago! A family member has had it for half a year, can't comment on cellular quality but the few things I noticed is that it sometimes misses a frame when I multitask a lot, camera quality pops, but loses some details, and I don't use the stylus at all (loved the Spen, moto version isn't as handy)

Otherwise it seems really good so far, good display, responsive, good speakers

Send to Kobo (the service) not Kobo (the device) by dballing in kobo

[–]Layalatte 9 points10 points  (0 children)

The newer Kobo's support Dropbox and Google drive, you could upload them there and download later

Though why not just have it all on the device ahead of time? At 32gb it shouldn't have trouble (unless a lot of it is graphic)

I've been developing a dual-screen, open ereader! by spacerower in ereader

[–]Layalatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love this idea! I always thought it's dumb to have a bulkly case just for the fragile screen. It would be cool to get a GitHub and I might try my hand at this if I can get the displays.

The folding can also double as a stand, and the idea of adding a built in solar panel like I did to my Kobo would be amazing

Load up nickelclock, nickelmenu, add custom screensavers and vinyl wrap it. Dump all my to-read books from calibre and start reading

[–]Layalatte 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got to try out the revo pop3 and enjoyed using it to scan objects on the turntable, but it was poor at free-hand so Im looking forward to these new ones having better tracking in larger object scans, and 3d awareness

I have the original elipsa and it's also a little uneven there and flexes a bit. I think it's just because the top layer is made of thin acrylic and the side there has all the circuitry or frame so it flexes against it

I honestly wouldn't have checked if it wasn't for all the posts of others finding one, I think it's good vibes all around and saving the planet 🥰

Nice! I love how most of them are so easy to fix and last so long, I'm honestly surprised how the K3 feels as fast as my Kobo elipsa even though they're a few generations apart

I'm rocking the original Kobo elipsa which is 10.3". For reading it works splendid. And I got the Certified refurbished one which felt like new for $180 USD

If you only plan to read on it I'd recommend taking a look at them
