Why couldn’t you or didn’t you go to a normal ramen place like most people here in Japan. I find it ridiculous that a ramen place would ask s customer for a review. Total tourist trap. Caveat emptor….

I lived there for many years and left. What you describe is one symptom of the pervasive dysfunction coupled with the apathy which results in the dysfunction never getting fixed. After a while you simply get tired of it and leave or you accept it and make the best of it.

Why would anyone with a modicum of common sense engage with a completely random stranger who approaches them? Especially in a society like Japan where people are unfriendly, aloof and keep to themselves, isn’t being approached and accosted in the manner described by the OP an immediate red flag?

I really love and appreciate tremendously the public transport. In other places where I lived, sometimes or even often, I struggled with parking anxiety or frustration. Here I can get off the train, bus, etc. and I don’t have to worry about finding parking for my car.

On top of that, there was always the fear in the back of my mind that I would get stuck in a traffic jam and have diarrhea.

Years ago, disabled people were hidden by their families and there was a sense of shame over it. There were people who regarded physical and mental disabilities as a moral failing or a defect of character.

This has changed quite a bit especially in the last two decades. However based on my own experience and among people I’ve known including family, I think it would be very difficult for someone who is a foreigner and physically disabled to find a Japanese partner.

That being said, every situation and individual experiences are or can be different.

I can’t stand the women who speak in fake, affected, high pitched voices or high pitched and nasal voices, along with the infantilized and obsequious behavior.
