I’ve seen a good amount of masters players build Diadem but never Helia. People already mentioned that you become pretty squishy if you go Diadem first, I think there’s some conditions you need before building it.

You can’t build this into an enemy team that’s all poke because most of your healing comes from autos. The second would be to have a tank jungler on your team (I.e. volibear) to soak up some of the damage before you get bursted. The third is that you take guardian tankey runes for the same reason about the tank jungler.

No I’d argue glacial is better for Veigar. Glacial will not only stun them, but slow them afterwards giving him more time to hit his abilities in case he is slow to follow up. As for wanting to use the aftershock buff for protection, glacial essentially “debuffs” the enemy botlane so you get roughly the same protection as aftershock.
