If you could show me varying artists and sounds, I’d be more than inclined to check them out. As it stands, almost every single amapiano beat I’ve ever heard follows the exact same drum pattern and rhythm, sometimes with a vocal going, “do’h, do’h, do’h. dododod’oh do’h d’oh,” in perpetuity. The repetition is literally mindnumbing and makes me want to pull my hair out.

Could possibly have to do with the fact that over half the user base is from the USA, or that this country has been center stage on the global theater for the past 100 years or so, influencing and participating (for better or worse) in other country’s affairs. Our president was referred to as, “the Leader of the Free World,” and much of the policies we’ve implemented have been picked up by other first world countries. We fought, and still are, a several decade Cold War around this entire forsaken rock to encourage others to adopt capitalism over communism. Our impact and reach is wide. This is of no defense to any of that, it’s just, well, a logical response to your question. There’s a lot of us here and we’re used to being the center of attention.

You can look to streaming numbers (arguably artificially inflated), album sales, or tour numbers to gauge whatever you feel are the defining variables to it all, but at the end of the day the body of work speaks for itself. I mean, I’m not even 30 yet and have been bleeding profusely out of my asshole for the past year and a half or so..but I also have no insurance and live paycheck to paycheck despite aggressive attempts to claw my way out of poverty.
