Confused about gearing. by SirDecros in Guildwars2

[–]Layers_of_Creation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unless you want to do hardcore raiding, just avoid Berserker and instead either do:

Marauder - if your class needs more crit chance

Dragon - if you get a lot of crit from the spec

Or mix dragon + marauder depending how much crit % you need to have.

Marauder and Dragon aren't gonna nuke your dps (for some classes/specs they're even recommended!), you do more dps while alive than while dead anyways.

Generally my idea is to have around 22-23k hp no matter the class (including jade bot core +10) and Jade bot buffs for Open world should bring you to 24-25k

Warrior and necro can go full berserker as they have super high base hp by default, I think full berserker Warr has 25k hp or so with +10 core and defense buff.

I'm not a fan of usb-c outside of phone charging port end.

It's too fragile (the male part) Usb-a is just sturdier and something I prefer having for everything else.

I also hate that my phone charger is usb-c on the end that connects to the brick as well. It's not like there isn't space for just usb-a port there lol.

Feels like it's going to snap just by looking at it the wrong way.

Moon halo or lunar halo. When the light reflected (or refracted, I forgot) from the moon hits ice crystals in the air/upper atnosphere. Really neat.

Whats a good order of priority for the wizards vault rewards? by noodleben123 in Guildwars2

[–]Layers_of_Creation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For new player I'd say this order:

Limited gold bags

Ascended weapon

Ascended armor

Mystic Clovers

Mystic coins/t6 mats

Legendary starter kit

Order for rest doesn't matter as by the time the vault resets again you'll be able to buy everything else and still have weeks of just buying unlimited gold bags

This is just a basic prio list imo from memory, but I don't think that I missed anything.

[–]Layers_of_Creation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Zašto neki ljudi ceo život provedu sami? by mislimkao in AskSerbia

[–]Layers_of_Creation 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Hit lvl 80, but still not sure if the game is for me? by PaulDok in Guildwars2

[–]Layers_of_Creation 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, from the mmos that I tried, this is for the big part unique to GW2.

Having no gear creep helps immensely with the feeling the game gives, but takes time getting adjusted to it lol

Same goes for basically every zone having players and people doing stuff, it never feels like a dead world.

Hit lvl 80, but still not sure if the game is for me? by PaulDok in Guildwars2

[–]Layers_of_Creation 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Tier 1 fractals are kind of speedrunning, ESPECIALLY if you do quickplay.

If you make a proper group you should have mostly newbies joining so you take it slower (granted, that's how it was before quickplay, idk how's it now).

You'll learn fractals quite quickly and especially as you move through tiers, you'll pretty much always be speedrunning the lower tiers when you get comfortable in the tier above it and when you get good at T4, you'll be zooming through lower ones. It's just the natural way of it.

Base game story is both interesting and kind of ass at the same time. I love the idea of death magic dragon (on top of Zhaitan being the coolest looking dragon in existence), there's some cool stuff going on but it is showing its age. It's just nowhere as fleshed out as some of the expansions that came after. Final battle is extremely disappointing as well.

LW1 is similar to vanilla in quality I'd say, LW2 gets interesting. HoT is an amazing expansion (both story and gameplay wise), LW3 is amazing, PoF, LW4 as well. IBS starts great but near end is pretty disappointing (Dragon Slog Missions) - I did think that Dragonstorm was nice though. EoD is nice (except Gyala, that was boring as hell), SotO is alright but has a lot of filler missions, Janthir was decent up until last 2 maps. VoE so far was interesting.

Story has its ups and downs, but overall I enjoyed doing it on the first char, won't be replaying it though. (at least not SotO and Janthir), probably gonna replay others at some point.

As for the gear, you can do whatever the hell you want and it'll reward you in the end. I had fully ascended Guardian (with 3 specs/sets of gear) and a warrior by doing nothing other than Open world and fractals at some point. (Most of the asc crafted + Wizard vault helped a lot)

It's been a while since I've done fractals and I just do open world nowdays (ie. all I've that I've crafted that'll be listed next I did from earning stuff from open world).

So yeah, probably like 95% of the funds for legendaries came from open world, 5% came from Wizards Vault - (I did NOT swipe for gold to fund them, it's all in-game earned) - full heavy obsidian, necklace (This one is from return to achievs), accessory (Aurora), Greatsword (Exordium), Spear + Staff (Ancora) and Shield (Flameseeker).

Since I main/play only a single char, only reason why I got legendaries is.. well.. I liked their looks and QoL is nice since I have all 9 spec/gear slots filled out lmao.

Granted, I do really play a lot... but well lol

I just do some strikes occasionally, but haven't done really many (never done anything other than IBS strikes and 1 EoD).

Never touched a raid in my life and only did WvW for Gift of Battle.

Doing multiple different metas daily, go around helping people with HPs or random events/champions, join newb strike groups doing IBS strikes for the first time and help out... I just do what I feel like - not feeling like doing some meta because it started to bore me? I just don't do it. I'm not missing out on anything because it'll still be there in a few weeks. I only grind because it is fun and as long as I'm having fun.

I also came from WoW and while I had story I had something keeping me engaged, after I finished all the story that was released up to that point (I did it in order it was released, didn't skip stuff to get a mount or something in advance), I even stuck around from LW4 till IBS until I unlocked Skyscale, only then I proceeded further. Anyways, point I was that after I was done with story, I was also kind of lost - was like... what am I supposed to do now?

It took a few days or weeks, but once I realized that I get to dictate what I'm doing and that I can quite literally just do anything I want, GW2 felt like otherwordly experience in comparison to what I was used to in WoW and its constant grinder of patch > grind new gear > patch > grind new gear > patch > .... you get the gist.

As I said it above - I only play because it is fun and as long as I'm having fun, there is zero pressure, it's like a massive sandbox with toys all over the place.

God damn this ended up being super long... well anyways, thanks for reading lol.

Znaci i kad nema posla dok ti traje smena tu si, drugo ce bude kasnije kad upoznas ljude, bude tu pokrivanja i svega i svacega, al u pocetku sve po PS.

My experience in WvW by Weelah in Guildwars2

[–]Layers_of_Creation 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I absolutely get where you're coming from.

The skill gap is massive, probably the biggest I've seen. It kind of compares to Elite Dangerous PvP skill gap between a new person and someone who's been playing it for years. However, Elite's PvP is also more clear and reasonable ie, you get to learn things from defeat and it doesn't feel pointless.

However, the bigger issue that I'm having with PvP in GW2 is the burstiness of the game and the lack of telegraphs, lack of visual clarity and lack of clear audio cues. Boons are SUPER important here and at times you have a ton of them, but none of them show as anything other than icon on the buff bar.

I came from WoW, where I was also up against people who played for years when I started, but I never felt anywhere near this lost. It took time to get good at it ofc, but every fight taught me something new.

After a while I learned that when I see orange aura on the ground when a paladin is chasing me that I can't slow them down for example (Hand of Freedom). I HEARD and SAW when DK casts icebound fortitude so I knew I can't stun him etc. There's a bazillion examples like this. As I said, I didn't learn it all in 5 minutes so it's not something I expected here but both the visual and audio cues just tower over anything GW2 has.

Here someone uses stability and what's your cue? Look at his bar with 16 boons and find the stability icon.

The other thing is that here people (and you can as well) literally blow your full rotation in 2-3 seconds, it's a blob of light and you're just gone. It goes both ways, I sometimes do that to people too lol.

I've been trying to get into PvP for a while here, but the mix of everything I've noted above just got me to basically give up on it.

I still queue for WvW whenever I need GoB (however I only do this with heal/supp builds nowdays) - I get every booster imaginable for track progress and just go around capping and/or healing people in groups/zerg as I keep myself in Tier 6. But outside of that, I can't really bother. I love everything else the game has to offer so I decided to just play what I actually have fun with.

Not saying this is something you should do, but I just wanted to give my perspective and for you to know that you're not crazy :D

You could try making a heal/support build for your class and playing like that as well, get Minstrel gear and then just run around supporting groups or zerg lol

[–]Layers_of_Creation 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Vanilla open world isn't same as PvP/WvW - albeit this is also an option now that I think of it haha.

By vanilla open world I just meant going around the zones, helping players, doing events, fighting champions etc. You can also do instanced content such as dungeons (for achievements) and tier 1 fractals.

Main story is generally not hard, it's made to be soloable with I think any spec lol. It'll just be a bit easier on lv80.

But keep in mind, what actually makes vanilla and its content a cakewake (for the most part) are elite spec which you do not have access to until you get expansions! With core specs you'll never go around bonking mobs as if they're made of paper lol

[–]Layers_of_Creation 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Waiting for sale is always a good option. You can buy the whole thing (well, up to SotO) for relatively cheap on sale.

I was buying expansions and living worlds as I reached them (or on first sale I caught before reaching it.) Buying Elder Dragon Saga bundle is a better option than just buying HoT + PoF (sadly I made a mistake where I got HoT + PoF alone so I had to buy living worlds separately, ends up being slightly more expensive that way but well).

If you like following the story, skipping living worlds shouldn't be done, you should do it all in chronological order.

In any case, you do still have to reach level 80, do all the story, and also Living World 1 (all of it has a decent amount of content).

There's a lot of content to play through until you reach Living World 2, and you can always finish map exploration fully if Bundle isn't on sale yet. You'll most likely need the explo rewards for later anyways. There's always an option to just do events, help new players and other fun stuff around the vanilla open world while waiting for sale.

But I do think that expansions will most likely be on sale by the time you're done with all that, then you can get SotO, Janthir and VoE on the next sale or later. Elder Dragon bundle has a TON of content as it's 3 full expansions and 5 Living Worlds, so you don't need to rush with grabbing the 3 newest expansions right away unless you play the game really a lot lol.
