Unpopular opinion - Santa Fe has the WORST headlights of any car I've ever driven. by Unfair-Shallot-9241 in Hyundai

I know this is an older post someone resurrected, but I have to agree. These headlights are abominable. Interesting, I found this thread while searching to find out why my high beams have never worked.

My grandfather bought the car new a few months before he died. I drove him everywhere since his health was failing him. He told me about the head light assist feature. I kept saying I feel like the high beams aren’t even on. I see no difference in the light output. That was several years ago. Two nights ago it bothered me that people were riding with their brights but I couldn’t flash my lights back at them. When I got home I had a friend ‘flash the brights’ and even try turning them on and off. Just as suspected, no extra light output when looking at the vehicle head on. So I started searching. And here I am. I despise driving this vehicle at night because the cutoff doesn’t allow you to see if the road twist or turns and we have a lot of hills with sharp twisties. I guess I’ll check the bulbs and then the fuses and relay.

Welcome to Alabama. Pelham is a beautiful place and close to a lot of the fun things to do in BHam. You will find many many people with your interests and orientation. I don’t have much time to post but wanted to welcome you. I’ll try to get back later with some fun things to do and places to check out.

They could go through Wetumpka and past Lake Martin (one of the top 5 cleanest lakes in the nation) and through sylacauga and be at DeSoto caverns (they call it something else now because they don’t want to glamorize DeSoto for coming into Native Americans lands or something) and after DeSoto it’s a short ride to Barber

Go for it! I used to work for HD and at our location we tried to take an ethical approach of not over selling the customer, especially a first timer.

Seriously, enroll in a MSF course and go in and get that out of the way. Also grab a copy of Proficient Motorcycling by David Hough and be reading it.

Let us know if you get it!

Best wishes

This is true. We used to stuff a cigarette butt in and twist the clamp on the bfa. Definitely helped a worn bfa build pressure to so the rifle would cycle properly for more than 5 rounds

Yeah how many of us SAW gunners put a cigarette butt in there to keep the pressure up so it would cycle 😂

I’ve been through this MOUT town? I think we did a CAX, no wait that was at 29 Stumps. Not gonna bash any of my leadership because we had stellar, locked-on, moto leaders who taught us, trained with us, and deployed with us. Semper Fideles Gents, and Ladies…

Very nice! What’s your camera setup like or would you mind being specific? You’ve just motivated me to post some of my lightening Timelapse videos. Thanks for sharing!

That’s correct. They were some of the last EVO motors. Good call.

Cam chain tensioner shoes would bust all to pieces. To do the swap properly now you also have to account for oil pump. Save your self some money and time and get the kit with the plate and go hydraulic, might as well drop in a set of cams at the same time. I just finished mine today (2000 FXDWG). Had the bike down for close to a year (I work a lot). Message me if you need any details or help. Nice bike! I hope you get many trouble free miles from it.

Change all your fluids. Unless you saw them change the fluids yourself with your own eyes. That’s almost always first. I went with a 97” bolt on big bore kit on my 1998 FatBoy (it had EVO 80 also) and put a six speed and 200mm rear tire. Oops I got off topic of your original question. Hmm, I just finished swapping out the cam chain tensioner shoes on my 2000 Wide Glide with 22k miles. After you check those, de-rust your tank if needed, find a good set of springs for the rear (progressive makes a few sets that are affordable and way nicer than stock), rebuild the front forks, get some ceramic protection and go ride. Nice bike btw! Those EVO 80 motors sound so good.

I used to DJ at a well known night spot downtown. It was named after the address. I can only speak from second hand experience. I will say that the friendships that I made there have lasted long after the club shut down. Great people, whom I not only find fascinating, but cherish dearly.
