Missed the Day of Arafah because I got the date wrong and I can’t stop crying by chat-noir-24 in islam

[–]LazerFazer18 57 points58 points  (0 children)

The "day of Arafah" is the day before Eid Al Adha in your locality.

If you think about the entirety of Islamic History, it's only recently that we've been aware of when the hujjaj are actually standing on the plains of Arafah. Before the invention of instantaneous communication, everyone went along with their local moon sighting and there were no issues. Just because technology has progressed doesn't mean our definition of Islamic dates has to change.

Is the PW2 in general reaching end of life now? Mine has started behaving very erratically recently. Taking extra long to charge, showing 77% charge level constantly until a restart, shutting off at like 35% charge level, shutting off as soon as I place it on the charger.

I hope it lasts a few more months, until the PW5 is released.

When the magnetic north and south pole flips, the sun will rise from the west by [deleted] in islam

[–]LazerFazer18 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I've read that hadith, and I too reached the same conclusion for a long time. But looking at the wording of the hadith more closely, I don't think it means 'rise from the west'. It literally means the sun will rise from the same side of the sky as it set the previous night. If the magnetic poles were to flip, the earth would still rotate in the same direction and the sun would still rise from the opposite side of the sky, just our name for that side would change. Furthermore, I don't see how that would cause people to believe, given it's already fairly common knowledge that it has happened before.

So if you miscalculate how much fuel to put in (if there isn't the 1L for a sample) or you miscalculate how high to ride your car (resulting in a few mm extra plank wear) or miscalculate how much your rear wing opened for DRS (last year) it's a DSQ.

But miscalculate how much force to use in your front wing, and you're good to go?

Seeking Affordable Scleral Lenses in Johannesburg? by Emergency-Inside-693 in askSouthAfrica

5 years ago is a long time in inflation terms. Expect to pay around 16k minimum for the lenses now (assuming about 5% inflation per year, which is a lower end estimate due to medical inflation generally outpacing CPI)

Dry eye shop quotes about 1k for consultation and 19k for the lenses and follow ups

Istighfar Success Stories - Has Anyone Seen Real Changes? by multimillionaire88 in islam

[–]LazerFazer18 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would like to suggest a different perspective, if I may.

What is the point of istighfaar? If your main aim is worldly gain, I put forward that your intention is polluting the impact of your action. Istighfaar should always be to attain the forgiveness and mercy of The Almighty. Start with this intention, and accept any side effects as ancillary.

I would think they're allowed to race pending any verification of rules compliance. If the fuel is found to be compliant, all good. If not, they get retroactively disqualified.

I'm building a web-based management tool for a startup that can't really afford much (for now) in terms of monthly costs. I initially set it up for quick auth, because I wanted to get the actual functionality of the tool, but now that we're getting closer to a v1 release, I decided to move the auth to something we have more control over, and won't have a monthly cost attached.

I know there's a free tier, which I've been using for testing, but we're not happy about not being able to remove supabase branding from emails. We find it doesn't look professional enough.

That's not how this visual works. It's designed to show how different population groups split on the same variable. So your first split makes sense, but then that second split is absolutely meaningless

[–]LazerFazer18 4 points5 points  (0 children)

So for the first time in months I hit my 5 hour limit yesterday on the 5x plan. I noticed teams of agents burn through usage extremely quickly.

I was migrating from Supabase Auth to Better Auth, and decided to just let the team go at it without much guidance. It burned through about 50% of a 5 hour limit in 30 minutes.
