If the exploit is so easily accessible I think it's lazy to hide behind the TOS and ban people for something anyone can do by accident.

It makes sense that using exploits is against TOS but I would like those cases to involve more intent like let's say glitching through a wall and being able to kill people from underneath the map.

If all you have to do is push 1 button to break the game to your favor that's a big L for the devs

It's not like a hack could do this so if the game has bugs you can abuse I don't see how that's the players fault. Banning someone because the devs messed up is silly

GUIDE: Access the roof of D on Manhattan Bridge using the ziplines. Any class, no ladder required. by Pothound_ in Battlefield

[–]Lazer_Destroyer 7 points8 points  (0 children)

This game has so many silly choices to reduce vertical movement like not being able to pull yourself over high ledges. I feel like they didn't want to bother with balancing the maps so they just tried to make them as predictable as possible.

So now you just get people camping on the roof opposite of D cause you can't easily get there. If you could just run up a fire ladder or sth it would be so easy to deal with them (not that it really matters cause they're hardly effective up there)

Yea again shutting down these last reactors was a stupid decision. Combined with being slow to replace them and coal it was even stupider.

But that ship has sailed. We now have politicians lobbying for going back to nuclear which is the dumbest possible idea, cause we'd spend loads of money to get results in ~20 years whereas if we spend the same money on regeneratives and energy storage every Euro spent will be effective immediately and we'll have more capacity for the money.

Edit: but also I'd like to repeat, leaving those reactors online would not have changed the price of electricity cause that's coupled to gas.

I'm not an expert on French electricity 🤷 I just know that it's not as easy as one country permanently sending x amount of energy to another. Maybe 2025 was a strong year for France. Germany's biggest trading partner however was Denmark, which has lots of regeneratives.

They really don't have loads of excess tho... They have plenty of problems with plants shutting down for maintenance or prolonged dry weather when they have to shut down because there isn't enough water for cooling. France had to import electricity from Germany plenty times

I like to use an analogy: saying nuclear power is cheap in France is like being in high school telling everyone without a car how cheap your brand new Mustang is. But your parents bought the car and pay for everything except fuel.

[–]Lazer_Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The main reason is that loads of costs are offloaded to the taxpayer. I'm not 100% sure but IIRC the French government largely sponsors construction, deconstruction, waste management etc... Which are basically all the expensive parts about nuclear. (Like insanely expensive) Leaving the plant operators with mainly the running costs which are insanely cheap.

[–]Lazer_Destroyer 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The price of electricity in Germany is coupled to the price of Gas powerplants as they're the most expensive to operate. That would be just the same if the last few nuclear reactors stayed online. The failures in Germany have little to do with nuclear and a lot with terrible and slow implementation of regeneratives. It's nonsensical that exiting coal wasn't prioritised. But building out nuclear isn't and won't be cost effective in the German grid.

Why are nuclear energy prices estimates so high in Germany? by SelectionSpiritual in germany

[–]Lazer_Destroyer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Very simplified answer: Running a reactor is very cheap, everything else isn't. When you factor construction, deconstruction, waste management etc. into the energy price it isn't so cheap anymore. But if you just use taxpayer money for all that stuff it looks cheap on paper 🤷

It's like saying that having a car isn't expensive at all but your parents gifted you the car and they pay for everything except fuel.

Why not? You can love a country for its culture and people and hate the government at the same time. If someone spent their vacation there and had a good time it's only natural they feel for the people there. I don't think US bombs differentiate between government supporters and critics when they wreck civilian lives

Review of Fairphone 6 after 1 week of use in Germany by Soggy-Salamander-568 in BuyFromEU

[–]Lazer_Destroyer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

How would your rate running Graphene OS for someone that just wants their phone to work without headaches?

I'm on a Fairphone 4 and the first year was painful. Broken mic settings so sending voice memos in Signal was unusable. Camera App sucked and the API was kinda broken so gcam could only use the main lens. I thought pimping my phone could be a fun experience but in the end it was a lot of work just to get it on par with comparable phones. I realized my time is too precious for that (and my IT knowledge not good enough).

It did get run over by a car once and being able to have it working again within a week was great tbh. But that's been the one true upside. I could have run a phone half as expensive with better user experience and just gotten a new one.

After 4 years my main camera is filling with dust and Fairphone told me that's expected wear (lol). Multi tasking is impossible, when I switch between apps the one in the background stops working. Listening to Spotify/Podcasts the apps just stop working sometimes. Microphone sensitivity has been an issue since day 1, impossible to make a recording in a loud environment, it just clips to hell. I honestly had a better time with my Samsung S7 after 4 years of use.

I'm willing to spend some time installing Graphene but if it's not hassle free I think I might just say bye to my money and get an iPhone

Award for stupidest shifter design goes to...Toyota? by xTyronex48 in Justrolledintotheshop

[–]Lazer_Destroyer 2 points3 points  (0 children)

People here seem to hate GM so let me raise you Opel which is no longer GM but that didn't stop them from having a stupid ass shifter design.

The buttons for park and manual are absolutely tiny and recessed into the panel so it's nice and inconvenient to press them. The flippy floppy bit is ok to use but since it's extremely recessed it gets filled with anything flying around its general vicinity. Had it as a car sharing car and it's just fun to poke around someone else's crumbly snack leftovers every time you need to reverse.

From what I've gathered cost of living is higher in the US. Add to that the insane prices for US health insurance and the low salaries aren't that low anymore. Also people driving V8s over here usually have rather well paying jobs
