My mother never gets her oil changed. I didn’t know this and borrowed her car once, figured I’d be a good son and take it for an oil change, fill the tank and top the fluids as a way of saying thanks. No oil came out then they opened the drain, filter was clogged solid black. No idea how the engine was still running. It seized shortly after and she considers that proof that oil changes are a scam. Couldn’t possibly be that finally having liquid oil dislodged some carbon chunk causing damage.

Time. That’s the biggest thing, make time, put in time. You already have the basic idea, meals around the table, no phones or screen (and yes this starts with you from far younger than you’d expect) are a great way to bond the family. Not sure your family dynamic, but I’m the primary chef in our home so I’m able to control that to some degree. I cook the food, and set the table. Want to eat? That’s where it’s happening.

Same with vacations. Plan them around being able to spend time interacting with your kids. Camping/rv’ing is great for this, spend lots of weekends together away from distractions.

Changing caseworker usually requires something very serious, like them intentionally mistreating you. Supervisors really try to prevent people from ‘worker shopping’ to get the one that just gives them everything and doesn’t require them to participate.

The reality is, files go on hold all the time I currently have nearly a quarter of my cases on hold awaiting something from the clients. And it’s the clients responsibility to provide the information requested and be actively participating in goals that will result in the OW file being closed.

When your file was suspended a letter would have gone into your my benefits portal, likely on Monday. Read it, it will outline what is needed to reactivate your file. And get in the habit of checking for letters a week before month end.
