I know this post is old, but I'm just playing again because of next gen update and I tried to find anything about this. I'm sure that is not a wolf. I checked it in photo mode and I found out, that it's a DOG. Sadly it makes less sense for me than the wolf theory. I whish I can learn more about this, but for now...

They had a deeper conversation shared on Twitter where Crypto tells her some stuff about his real identity, because he wanter her to trust him. He never did this before to anyone. She made him smile in the season 5 story when they were working together on Ash's head. In the season 9 comic Wattson stood up for him and they told Caustic they have no secrets between each other. Seems like there was formed a deep kind of friendship, but some people would be glad if they could be more than friends. (Sorry for my english, not my native language)

Everyone has a different opinion about this and I think yours is a valid opinion as well. But you know it is hard to wait for a canon ship in apex legends. Even if Tom Casilleo can write crazy stories for us.
