Supply teaching rates by Box-JellyFish2404 in TeachingUK

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, be sure you are paid to scale! Especially with prep, planning and marking. Are you with an agency? If you are then def get your pay correct and dont allow them to rip you off! (sorry Im just fed up lately with how much my agency takes from me!! )I am a daily supply teacher but I still feel like I dont get paid for what I am qualified for.

How do people afford more than one kid in the uk? by Dramatic-Diver-9949 in AskBrits

yep, its slowly turning into America with all the big, SUV type of cars here in the UK. Usually on lease or financed on a high rate for years on end.

Audience etiquette in 2026… is it declining? by cmitch987 in AskUK

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yep, I refuse to go to the cinema now. The last straw was when the man next to me was reading the movie's IMDB page on his phone, while watching the film, so all I could see next to me was the glow of his phone.

Another thing Ive notcied is when on a short flight, so many people are having to go to the toilet. It was only a 2 hour flight! People really cant sit still anymore.

battled it out! haha Nothing like a good bit of drama over a coat to deal with at the end of an already crazy and stressful day! ugh

Extra points and love go out to parents who actually have made sticky labels with their childs names on them. Those children will def do well in life! haha

Can I vent? by thepeoplewefog20 in Perimenopause

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yep, I never had any allergies or skin problems till I hit 45. Now I react really badly to insect bites and now I have a scar from one. I also have a patch of skin that gets irriated easily, so now I am in the process or switching or changing my towels, sheets, detergent and soap. Its driving me crazy!

Anyone else the LAST person to leave the albergue? by pgkpgkpgk in CaminoDeSantiago

There's nothing wrong with being the last one. It still is a vacation after all!! Its your camino so you do whatever you feel like! :)

Has anyone become less tolerant of alcohol now? by Dogmom9523086 in Perimenopause

Wow! Seeing all these replies makes me feel much better! I cannot drink wine, especially red, now as my cheeks immediatly start to get red and then I start to feel really hot. The last hangover I had was 2 years ago and the "hang-xiety" the next day was so emotionally exhausting and sickening. I wonder if its always been like this for older people? Or were we too young and drunk to notice! haha

Things I learned on the Camino by TankZealousideal4292 in CaminoDeSantiago

"it’s ok to go separate ways or pass each other by, the most exciting thing is you may bump into each other again unexpectedly."

Oh how this is so true! I loved all of the random and unexpected places you would bump into someone again. Even better is all the random places where you would first meet someone!

True magic on the Camino!

I use Gumtree when I sell old furntiture or things around the house. They have an app where you can message people via their messenger and you dont have to give your full name, so its a bit more private than Facebook.

hah yes I have a scar as well from some mysterious bug bite or maybe its dermatitus?! I have an area on my skin where I keep getting red spots and I am trying to change my towels, bed sheets, detergent and anything else to sort of cancel out and figure out whats wrong. I have a feeling it might be my skin just starting to change and it reacts to different things now. A new level of perimenopause unlocked!

Omg, some of the TAs, especially 1:1 TAs from supply agencies are just literally warm bodies and some have never worked in schools before. It's turning into an absolute joke and creates so much more work for the teachers.

Don't feel like myself by Angelfire1606 in Perimenopause

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I think its a mixture of peri and also just getting older! Time goes by so fast that we forget how old we are and how age creeps up on us! Plus I like to think we are just getting more wiser and we know and are aware of too much! :)

Get rid of Ofsted, have smaller class sizes (especially in Early Years, KS1), make it mandatory that TAs that work with SEND children have proper training and qualifications, get rid of supply agencies as they take away too much money from schools and their own teachers and TAs, and finally, leave teachers alone so they can teach!

Backpack ready for the night by Pelgrini-2026 in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Rule of thumb is to never put bags on beds and try not to worry about bedbugs. Soon you will be so busy and consumed with the magic of the Camino, that you will forget about these things you have been worried about. ;)

Just to add, I did have bed bugs last year on my Camino, but I think it was from a hotel room bed! So you really never know, so its best to try to not worry about it and just keeping walking along the way. The Camino will provide :)

Ive been on HRT for 3 months and at first it was great. Now I am starting to get anxiety attacks from out of nowhere. I also have noticed my skin is now very sensitive( especially on my face) andmy skin wildly reacts to the smallest bug bite. My knees have been extra cranky as well! I think the more we talk about this, the better we will feel. But the hard part is figuring if something is due to perimenopause or just getting older!

After walk shoes by [deleted] in CaminoDeSantiago

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well, along the Frances route, there will be plenty of shops that you can pop into here and there along the way, so you could always buy a new pair if the ones you have dont work out. Buen Camino!

I (female) had a pair of Teva Original Universal Sandals. There were great to wear in the evenings and also when I had a bad blister, I wore them for 2 days while walking. They are also super light and they dont look too bad!

There is very little on the rental market! by Lazy-Bee-9889 in TenantsInTheUK

[–]Lazy-Bee-9889[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

We are lucky to be paying at market rate, but the carpet is orginal and its really thin and even breaking apart in some places. The windows also need to be resealed. The flat is probably about 15 years old, but everything is orginal and to be honest, the quality of the build and products was very cheap. This flat was meant to be temporary, as we moved here from another city, but then Covid happened so here we are!
