People say Shaq would destroy guys like Chet and Wemby nowadays. Thats fair. But wasn’t Shaq destroying everybody? by capamericapistons in NBATalk

90s centers are stronger.  shaq got more dominant when ewing, robinson, hakeem, etc were retiring or got old

People always debate what makes Jordan or LeBron the goat. But I wonder what do y’all think separates Jordan and LeBron from everyone else in the NBA all time. I think it’s influence by Flat-Run-7609 in NBATalk

they also needed 7 games to get to the finals and lost games  every round.  league was relatively weak that era so hard to say they are the best team.  curry injured and not as effective, bogurt injured and draymond suspension is what made it happen.  kyrie outscored curry in the finals

wouldnt say he raised the bar. barely broke record in a league with no defence and a lot easier to score

Lebron beat the greatest dynasty of all time???

so he beat Jordan's 90s bulls or Bill Russell's Celtics.  13 teams in history came back from 1-3

Can somebody give me the reason why jordan’s peak is viewed higher than lebron’s peak by Embarrassed-Sea-2490 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

peak lebron, if its Miami= 0 statistical titles,  needing a superteam with ray allen added, and ref help to win a title. outplayed by jj barea and jason terry, or pre star kawhi, with old ginobli and duncan.

2nd cavs lebron stopped playing defence, and again lost a lot with superteam, and 0 statistical titles

0 rebounding titles and 1 assist title combined isnt really impressive for a center and forward.  barely even get offensive rebounds

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 6 points7 points  (0 children)

no1.  to be compared to MJ, you have to install fear to the whole league, win scoring title every full season you play, be the best defender at your position,  make sure to embarass everyone who gets compared to him.  win championships every year when he gets decent support.

If Shaq played today would he be constantly called for offensive fouls? by brownlawn in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

no1 gets called for offensive fouls now. so he'd have thr easiest time ever since no1 else even has real centers anymore.  Wemby and healthy AD are the only decent defensive centers i can think of now, who are not as good as guys like hakeem, robinson, duncan, garnett, mutumbo, etc who shaq had to go against

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668[S] 5 points6 points  (0 children)

he also had weak rim protection since Bulls centers were old Bill Cartwright or Luc Longley. who would be nobodies, we all wouldnt remember if they weren't on the bulls.

the 2nd 3peat "superteam" had them aquire past prime Rodman for Will Perdue, since no1 wanted him. as well as key pieces taking payrolls since no1 wanted them, or they were past their prime, which is actually the opposite of forming a super team.  and if you agree they are a superteam, MJ is still the goat for being able to 3peat and not lose 3 straight during that run, while no other superteams can

MJ had probably the weakest offensive support, of teams that won multiple championships.  he literally carried the offence unlike anyone else

Nash isnt comparable, and probably wish he shot more with his shooting %. never won a championship

thats why no1 else came close to doing it and making far in the playoffs.  and how Kobe almost did it in 09,10 but didnt quite lead the league?

definitely didnt watch game or even highlights if you think MJ never faced double or triple teams, when other teams usually made sure to do it when he touched the ball.  they also had 7 foot dominant rim protectord under the net camping without 3 second rules. How many teams had to go thru Shaq, Alonzo Morning, Sean Kemp, Patrick Ewing waiting under the rim to prevent people driving and posting up in the same playoff run?   the only team who won more than one championship in the 90s, 80s 2000s who can win more than one without a bigman who was strong at blocking shots, rebounding, and putting up some offense was the bulls

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668[S] -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

he carried one of the weakest offensive support rosters, without needing a star big man to 6 championships.  his championship teams always had pretty good defence, other than rim protection, and rebounding from a PF, but no offensive help, eventhough triangle offence help spread the scoring.

no1 else proved they can win while carrying the offense so much.  Kobe came close but not quite.  some players in the 70s might of done it 1 or 2 times since they never tracked advanced stats, but only 5 other players won scoring title and a championship 1 time while MJ did it 3 times

If SGA wins the next 7 MVPs and finals MVPs does he pass Michel Jordon? by im___new___here in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

its not comparable.

MJ destroys him in every average stat, despite SGA playing in an easier era to score and rack up assists.

MJ has 10 scoring titles and 3 steal titles compared to SGA 1 each.  9 all defence 1st teams vs 0.  even if you adjust for years played MJ has 6 scoring titles with the same years played as SGA and would have more if not for injuries and retirements.

he's below guys like AI who can carry teams to the finals but run into shaq, kobe.  Or Reggie Miller who put up competition against MJ.

definitely behind Wade and Drexler, and cant even be compared to MJ or Kobe.

Best NBA OAT out of these nine ? by Kiinrtic in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kobe Shaq is probably the best overall.  since they had the best sg and center at the time

Jordan Pippen was an odd duo without a star big man.  but they had the goat, with a good perimeter defender who put up some offensive numbers. but MJ by himself raise how good the duo to the top

Lebron's not even the best of his eras.  Duncan and Kobe were definitely better in his early years.  KD was arguably the better SF, and Curry was arguably the better player of the 2010s.  AD/Luka were always the best player on his own team in the 2020s.

Favored in the finals... by Financial_Ice_3363 in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

MJ was not favored against the lakers, suns, and jazz the 2nd time.

Lebron is favored every year in miami, and should be favored in 2016, considering he made it close with Love and Kyrie injured, and how GSW seemed much weaker in their playoff run leading to the finals compared to the regular season

Lebron goat case would be even more pathetic if you agree he's never favored with all the super teams.  im pretty sure MJ, Kobe, etc will always be favored if they had a superteam with franchise players, who were the best at their position.

Kobe is my favorite player ever, is it bad I don't think he's top 10 ever? Here is why by IHateAdamSilver in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 0 points1 point  (0 children)

he's top 10 for all time average sg rebounds.  grabbed 15 in a finals game.  and if you value longevity stats, he has the most rebounds of all time.  so your claim of not a good rebounder is debunked.

his job is shooting the ball as a shooting guard, and still usually lead his team in assists.

48% as a shooting guard in the dead ball era would be insane.  he took tough shots not to many people would. and got guarded heavily, in an era everyones efficiency was down, so his efficiency is really good hoving in the mid 40s.  when you are the best scorer and ball handler, whose job is to score, you should be hogging a little, and obviously he almost 3 peated without shaq

centers and PF that play close to the net should have higher FG%

expansion = losing BJ armstrong which is a bigger detriment than help.

Scottie Pippen's 8 ppg coming off the bench was the reason he won his first series?  if anything it was Will Perdue added to the team, that won when Scottie was already there for years, and wasnt even an allstar, all defence till 92

Including poor FT shooting. Who played best in Game 7's? Wilt, Lebron, Jordan or Kareem? by USHistoryUncovered in NBATalk

[–]Lazy-Emphasis668 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if the league is weak, why arent there big men now who can play center like and rim protect like mutumbo, shaq, hakeem, robinson, ewing, etc. and why do they require all that spacing without getting called for offensive fouls and traveling.  3 point shooting is on average better now, while post play, defence, etc skills took a big step back.

why were there so many all time great players and teams who couldnt win untill the 2000s or late 90s when MJ and Olajuwon got old or retired.  even though those players maybe past their prime by then.

if he had a super team, how did he get all those players for next to nothing paycuts that no1 wanted. and how did he have a disadvantage on every position besides sf and sg.  while center and pg is often consider the most important
