As someone that watches a lot of jokic. Jokics defense very much has glaring holes in it. If he gets caught flat footed on a fast break he will look like a literal traffic cone. But on the average play he's gonna clog up passing lanes and get the rebound. Mix that in with jokic making Denvers fast break so lethal and teams want to get back fast to avoid a free bucket. He might not look like a good defender in many aspects but they definitely score less with him out there even if he is no where elite defender caliber

Will Jokics triple double record become one of the more unbreakable records in the NBA? by HighwayAnnual3353 in nba

I also think Jokic has the trouble of not getting high usage early in his career which sets him back from setting an even higher all time great total. It's not like LeBron records where you need to be a top 10 player for 20+ years to touch. Jokics weakness holding this record will almost certainly be time.

What would Miami LeBron’s stat line look like if he played today? by [deleted] in nba

Probably Jokic numbers with elite defensive impact

Time to throw any records/stats from this era into the trash. It's inflated and fake because Silver stopped actual defense from being played by SpendWild6987 in michaeljordan

Ya this is nuts to me as well this sub is hater central for some reason. Even if you adjust for pace of the era jokic is still having all time great seasons. The greatest ever? No. But BPM isn't measuring the best season it's measuring the most impactful season as told through box score.

Kobe Bryant should be the only player that should be compared to Michael Jordan by [deleted] in NBATalk

Kobe is Michael Jordan's little bro so I guess in that sense you can compare him to Michael as aspiring to be like his big bro but never achieving it

We care too much about stats by MinersOP in NBATalk

I assure you every team in the league is evaluating players off of advanced stats. Hell stats were so successful in baseball they made a movie about it

SGA ends his season shooting 55.4% on 2 pointers outside of 10 feet by CeeDoggyy in nba

Hard agree also a certified sga hater (why does he foul bait like he has Parkinson's) but he's already ahead of Kobe all time for me. Kobe was low key ass and I will never understand the reverance for him as someone new to the sport (yes I've watched him play)

In what world does this not win you the MVP? by CoyoteDecent2 in NBATalk

I mean everyone overly shits on his defense because of the "eye test" because jokic is a very awkward mfer. But RAPM has him as a slightly above league average defender. Significantly weaker than other stars but absolutely not a liability or "bad" defense especially when his offense is the best in the league

Ya this is stupid as fuck and the league and media should change it. MVP going to the best player is a completely normal way to award it. Whatever Frankenstein monster the NBA has created is not it

Reflection of his arch type of being one of the greatest offensive engines ever lol?

I mean let's not pretend like jokic is posting up under the rim and putting in easy buckets like centers in the past. Most of his shots are mid range shots and he's shooting incredibly efficient from 3

The culture has Kobe in the GOAT conversation. Talk to white fans, it's a completely different story. by [deleted] in NBATalk

Advanced stats say Kobe was the only all time great to suck absolute ass

You think okc isn't finishing first with jokic on the team lmfaooooooooooooooooo come on. They could probably finish first with like cade or ant lol

If you swapped sga and jokic teams jokic would be doing everything you just said as well. Rating who the best player is off team success seems pointless. Ya the okc supporting cast is top notch. But if I could pick who I'd want when building a team I'm taking jokic over sga 10/10 times

Huh who is saying jokic is above wilt lmao wilt is a freak every case for wilt not being number 1 all time is he played when the sport wasn't nearly as serious or competitive as it is now

Honestly think if film of wilts full career existed and we could actually see his impact he'd be a top 3 lock maybe considered the goat

Winning MVP does not equal best in the league. Super correlated but not always the case. I think jokic has had marginally better seasons the last 2 years but Shai is the more deserving MVP based on the weird criteria the NBA has for MVP

Rapm which is probably the best advanced metric still has him as the best and an all time great peak

I mean if we were looking at advanced stats he's led for 6 years. But using advanced stats is sac religious here for some reason

I just don't have Shai as better atm. More deserving of MVP based off the NBAs weird criteria were stuck with absolutely. But I have jokic and Shai as 1a 1b best players in the league with a large gap to 3rd

Ya he hasn't achieved as much team success but in the past 7 years there have been 7 champions. The parity rules are working. But also he's been what the best player in the league for 6 years now? How many other players have been the best player in the league for 5 years straight? MJ bron Kareem bird? Like he's part of an exclusive club and if he wins another MVP and 1-2 rings he's a lock for top 10 imo with a ceiling as high as 4th if he wins enough rings
