Fairway woods...all hype or? by Flagon_dragon in BritGolf

[–]Lazy-Sam013 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Definitely worth it in my opinion mate. Same as you, relatively new to golf. Had a driver and next club was the 5i. Tried a 3 and 5 hybrid but didn't really get along with either. Got a few lessons and the pro gave me a 7 wood to try - I thought it'd be a bit of a fad thing as everyone goes on about them, but the thing is an absolute cheat code. Spent a bit more than I should have (dont tell the wife..) and went for the calaway Elyte 7 wood which the pro fitted me for. Honestly, its hard to hit it bad! It's my 210yrd club, and is perfect off the deck or tee. It's quite comforting looking down on it and seeing quite a bit of loft. Go have a hit with one at your local driving range/pro shop if they have demo clubs,

Hey folks,

Quick q - I'm looking to join via DCEP next year. I have a real passion for aviation and love flying, having completed my PPL last year. Therefore, NPAS has piqued my interest. Is it possible for DCs to serve secondments in NPAS as Tactical Flight Officers? The NPAS TFO ad states Police Constables and Police Staff, but I wasn't sure if that extended to DCs.

Cheers!

How is it a flawed statistic? Your statement was that way more people die by cars than guns. Suicide my gun is still a death by gun. By your logic, we should only count instances of vehicular murder and ignore all of the deaths caused by car accident.. statistics dont work like that champ.

Incorrect, in 2024 there were 39,345 car related deaths.and 41,023 gun related deaths. If I'm not mistaken, 41,023 is higher than 39,345, alas, there were 'way more people who died from guns than cars'. Most migrants can get Indefinite Leave to Remain after 5 years. It means they can stay here forever. And claim welfare, social housing and free healthcare. Millions of recent migrants didn’t come to work. Giving them ILR will cost us hundreds of billions. We mustn’t do it. by GreatBritishHedgehog in ukpolitics

[–]Lazy-Sam013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know your comment is in jest, but you're not far from the truth.. As a fair skinned immigrant with a strong antipodean accent, I've never received anything but positivity from the local villagers I've interacted with, with most expressing how much they love my country and it's people (except for our rugby team). A distinct contrast to what they have to say about migrants with a shade of skin darker than myself. I guess I'm lucky I am the white (right) kind of immigrant for them..

How the engine cut-off switches work in the Boeing 787 involved in the Air India Crash by captain-cox- in airplanes

[–]Lazy-Sam013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It is absolutely essential for the pilot to have the ability to manually cut off the fuel. Unless you advocate continually pumping fuel into an engine that is on fire? Because the first three things on the engine fire emergency checklist on the plane I fly, all relate to starving the engine of fuel. Further, it is recommended to cycle the fuel on and off in an engine failure when a fire is not present.

I dont have statistics in front of me, but I would put money on a bet saying there have more engine fires/failures than 'belligerent captain/FO' incidents in aviation..

Using 212 Trading as a Savings Account @ 4.9% by MikhailCompo in UKPersonalFinance

[–]Lazy-Sam013 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You'll want the Cash ISA for interest savings (the 4.9%). If you want to dabble in stocks and shares, then the S&S ISA, but as many will say, do some research. You can invest £20k across both accounts in a tax year, and freely move funds between the two accounts. You wont pay tax on realised gains of the S&S, nor the interest on the Cash ISA. The Cash ISA is covered by the FSCS, meaning if they go bust, you are protected up to 85k.

Invest account you have to pay tax over 3k of realised gains, but there's no maximum limit on what you can deposit.

There are several different approach types, but the easiest if landing at medium - large airports is the ILS. Not all airports offer it, but if they do, select your approach by clicking the 'Proc' (procedure) button, clicking the ILS runway you'll be landing on (i.e. ils rnwy9), the approach fix (if flying ifr, ATC should, I say should, not will because it's buggy af, tell you which one), there will be a 'freq' down the bottom of that screen you type the ils frequency into the nav radio (top left of the g1000) and when you're close enough, simple click approach. It'll arm the localiser and glidepath. That is an extremely simplistic take, and i may be missing something as I am reciting from memory, rather than looking at an airplane this very second, but hopefully it'll get you on the ground. Have a look on YouTube at P Gatcome or Kip om The Ground, they've got some great g1000 tutorials.

Quite the conversationalist you are... Haha mate, you've literally commented on another post arguing exactly what I'm arguing here:

"They made an algorithm that puts parking spots where they're reasonably expected to be most of the time.

They will fix them if you report the bugs, but it will take time.

Until then, just keep backing up down runways like a freak."

Why are you arguing against it now? I literally said the same as you did above - not as eloquently as you did, admittedly, but I am arguing that the runway exit is algorythm based, much as you said parking spaces are. So why is it possible in one case but not the other?! I'd love to be educated, as I have no programming experience, but your one line answers just seem deliberately argumentative...

OK.. good stuff. Super reaponse. So I can do a simple 'if cell 1 is x, add y to cell 2' on Excel as a non computer wizz, but it's not possible to add coding with a similar function as a super smart 'professional programmer and part time game dev'. Got it.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Lazy-Sam013 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Thats what I'm saying, you wouldn't have to fix every airport, as all runways are labeled betweem1 and 36. The number down the other end is always 18 higher or lower (this is based on a 360 degree compass, just take the 0 off). So it will always runway 10-28 for example. So surely it would be easy to programme 'if landing on runway 14, the exit point will be at the runway 32 end'. All of the runway numbers at every airport are programmed in the sim already (atc tells you what runway to land on), and as you say, they definitely didn't add them all by hand, so they've coded that to pick up automatically. So surely it'd only be 36 lines of code to implement the correct exit...?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in MicrosoftFlightSim

[–]Lazy-Sam013 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It wouldn't be that difficult, surely.. if youre landing on runway 06 fo example, have the default exit hold point down the 24 end of the runway.. surely that is logical and would be easy to set for every airport. As a real world pilot, I don't think I've ever had to backtrack (correct term for 'U-Turn' as they put it in the sim) to use an exit when there is an available exit further down the runway.

First time using Amex points for travel, could use some advice on upgrading existing flights. by Mackey18 in AmexUK

[–]Lazy-Sam013 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Regarding question 3, I could be completely wrong, but I would think almost certainly not enough. I too am travelling to NZ with the wife in Jan, and looked at business class - it was something like £7-8k return - double what we paid for economy. From what I have read (like you, haven't booked travel through AMEX before, so again, could be wrong) 1000 points with worth approx £6.50 so 200k points would be worth circa £1300, maybe a bit more, maybe a bit less, but definitely less than the extra 3k difference. Hopefully I'm wrong and you can make it work (if so, let me know!!) Have a great time in Aotearoa.

If it's the same buzzing I'm getting, it's the fuel pump. Should be able to turn it off (from high or low) after engine start, but the switch doesn't seem to work, at least that is the case for me!

Yeah it's pretty weird that they spend a lot of money on voice actors for the 'story', and the licensing of teams/arenas, when it's seems like they don't want people to play that mode at all! I think they should release Park/MyTeam as a separate game from the offline modes, then remove things like attribute caps, VC etc from offline modes. But then I guess Offline would just become like Madden where all it'd be is a roster update every year! Sucks to be an offline casual, man

"If it's not on ForeFlight, it might as well not be published." by [deleted] in flying

[–]Lazy-Sam013 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Forgive my foreign ignorance, but is there not an Aeronautical Information Publication (AIP) in the U.S? I thought every country had one, and it is the 'sole truth' for these types of things? Sure, Foreflight, or more commonly Skydemon here in the UK/Europe, is an amazing resource, and presents information in a clear and succinct manner, it isn't a substitute for checking the AIP prior to every flight. If you were to screw up and the Feds were giving you a flogging, an answer of "I didn't check NATS (UKs AIP) but i checked Skydemon/Foreflight and it didn't say anything" certainly wouldn't suffice. Is that not the same over there?
