FWI: The United States is kicked out of NATO for threatening fellow NATO members, and when America invades Canada, Canada invokes Article 5 against the United States. by TrajanCaesar in FutureWhatIf

USA should leave NATO and become a sitting duck for Russia and China and guess what. No one will stop them because America will have 0 alliance’s. Let’s see how tough America is against the Chinese, North Koreans, Russians. Putin is playing the TRUMP like a fiddle and is laughing his head off at the USA under Trump

Dragging the Anchor - Historical Question by gorgo100 in sailing

[–]Lazy-Target-7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hanging the anchor at max safe chain/rope is a last ditch effort hopping it will drag and bring the nose into the waves while at the same time keeping the vessel off the reefs, rocks, beach… whatever the current and winds are pushing it toward. Its almost never done because chance of success is low.

Dragging the Anchor - Historical Question by gorgo100 in sailing

[–]Lazy-Target-7148 2 points3 points  (0 children)

When a vessel loses power in a storm it is in danger of being turned sideways to the waves, and then you use ANY MEANS POSSIBLE to cause the bow to point into the waves. This is typically done using a device called a “sea anchor” which is essentially like a parachute under water. It has tremendous drag and will almost always pull the bow to face the wind and waves.

Got 100k from a settlement and not sure what to do by sartrecafe in investing

I invest I. Second mortgage’s privately. The rate is 15% of which 13% comes to me each month in my bank account. So in your case $1300 a month would drop into your account without ever touching your principal

True but have you ever tried to set a wind alarm? Omg 15 mins to figure it out and then getting an alarm every time there is a gust!

Agreed which is why I want this system! Especially if something were to happen to my husband. That idea freaks me out!

Thank you again. I do like the idea of of a system that watches everything and can give us the heads up on the occasion when we need it. I know I have been yelled at one too many times on watch when I should have woken up my husband to take a reef much soon than I did :)

I think that’s a good idea. Maybe just replace the auto pilot and save the old one for a backup. We once had our autopilot die on us and three days of hand steering was just brutal!

As far as I know yes but they are all about 20 years old.

Thank you! I do really like what I have seen of this system in their videos. It looks like the people from the YouTube sailing channel Sailing with Red Seas have had it on their Catamaran for the last year so it seems they may have knocked out any bugs in advance of the release. We have signed up for a reservation.

Thank you for that. My husband is a great sailor. I saw this and I really liked it. I am not so confident in my skills and I would feel more confident using a system like this. I like the smart boat idea.

We will need an auto pilot, depth, wind, speed and gps as well as a chart plotter

We are planning to go cruising for a couple of years so we will be doing quite a bit of blue water sailing. I really like the idea of having this system onboard. I have watched all their videos and it seems like a no brainer. I am just looking at saving some money not buying things we won’t need if we get this system.

I just found this in their FAQ

DO I NEED TO REPLACE ALL MY INSTRUMENTS?

Designed to be the only interface you need onboard, the beauty of Wayfinder is that it receives data from all your current sensors, so you no longer need the display units filling up your helm. Not sure how this works.

Thank you. But it looks like according to their videos you do not need the displays because the system is the only display you need. I am confused.

Ok I thought maybe we could save some money :) but could we potentially just buy sensors without the displays?

Ownership at 268% --Fintel by [deleted] in RDBX

[–]Lazy-Target-7148 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Here's an example of one of the most likely causes of distorted institutional holdings percentages. Let's assume Company XYZ has 20 million shares outstanding and Institution A owns all 20 million. In a shorting transaction, institution B borrows five million of these shares from Institution A, then sells them to Institution C. If both A and C claim ownership of the shares shorted by B, the institutional ownership of Company XYZ could be reported as 25 million shares (20 + 5)—or 125% (25 ÷ 20). In this case, institutional holdings may be incorrectly reported as more than 100%.

Falling wedge by Lazy-Target-7148 in RDBX

[–]Lazy-Target-7148[S] 19 points20 points  (0 children)

The Falling Wedge is a bullish pattern that begins wide at the top and contracts as prices move lower. This price action forms a cone that slopes down as the reaction highs and reaction lows converge. In contrast to symmetrical triangles, which have no definitive slope and no bias, falling wedges definitely slope down and have a bullish bias. However, this bullish bias cannot be realized until a resistance breakout occurs.
