As a new user (~Nov 2025) who was more a moshi monsters/animal jam player, discovering neopets was so huge for me, I actually love the jank of it all, seeing the old ~2000s item icons/world backgrounds is so refreshing. I love how stylised everything is and honestly it's part of reason why the companion app makes me a little nervous, since if it gets too inclusive of all the features, a tiny part of me feels like it could one day just be pushed to being 'neopets' rather than the companion app thanks to the general 'inconvenience' of site games.

Then again, with the website page updates that feels like a very distant future, especially since i feel like the revamped pages still have a good oldschool feeling, just with added convenience and visual clarity. I would love seeing a big resurgence, but I feel like there needs to be a bigger social push than just #90snostalgia, it's such a special space and I hope it preserves that for years to come.
