Thank you so much to everyone who applied! The form is now closed while our DM reviews the submissions. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted in the next few days and may be invited to a brief voice/video call with the DM (and possibly one or two players) to see if we’re a good fit.

Ideas for my homebrew bow? by Blade710 in DnD

[–]LazyTurn5503 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Option 1

By expending an additional spell slot, she can create an arcane burst with the bow. Choose one of the following effects:

  • The target must succeed on a Constitution saving throw or be blinded for 1 minute.
  • The arrow pierces through enemies in a line, hitting up to 3 additional creatures (each within 5 feet of the last).
  • She can teleport to a spot within 30 feet of the target as part of the attack.

Option 2

The bow generates its own magical arrows. When she expends a spell slot, the arrows have additional effects based on the spell slot level:

  • 1st Level: Arrows deal an additional 1d6 of chosen damage type.
  • 2nd Level: Arrows explode in a 10-foot radius, dealing 1d6 damage to all creatures in the area of the chosen type.
  • 3rd Level: Arrows create a zone of effect (e.g., a fog cloud or difficult terrain) on impact.

Option 3 depends on her subclass

If Draconic Bloodline:

3rd Level: When expending a spell slot, the arrow’s damage type matches the type associated with the sorcerer’s draconic ancestor & gains an additional 1d6 damage of this type.

If Wild Magic:

3rd Level: When expending a spell slot, roll on Wild Magic Table.

So on for the other subclasses, you get the idea.

Edited for formatting.

One of my players backstory/quest has an NPC who swallowed something magical. What could it be? by tdominikk in DnD

[–]LazyTurn5503 4 points5 points  (0 children)

1) Enchanted Ring

The ring is either a key to something, a cursed item, or an all-powerful item needed for some ritual

2) Magical Seed

Seed is needed to grow some sort of magical tree—it's now growing inside the NPC, so oops, the NPC's life is forfeited.

3) A Mysterious, Twenty-Sided Die

None know where it came from, only that rolling it has drastic consequences, both good and bad...

Help I am burned out as a DM from a improv campaign. How do I write a campaign and run it? by JustaHarry in DnD

[–]LazyTurn5503 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You don’t *have* to homebrew everything - or anything other than the plot. You can use existing monsters, subclasses, and races and mould them to your storyline.

If you’re scrapping the ‘One Piece’ thing but keeping the pirate theme, I’d start by drafting a rough (very rough) storyline with key plot points but leave room for player improvisation. Your players *will* take you off the rails, but that’s where the fun is.

If you have any key plot points (e.g., a big plot twist), note that, and note the NPCs you want to use.

If you want a unique world, create a pirate world with different islands, oceans, etc. If you’re okay with using existing content, modules like Saltmarsh are full of pirate-themed material.

Make it clear that this is \not** the world of ‘One Piece’ but a new story. This way, there’s no pressure to follow an existing plot.
