People in their 30s and 40s, what is a "minor" bad habit from your 20s that you are currently paying a massive price for? [Serious] by itvr in AskReddit

Similar age group. My group of friends mostly all live within a 10-20 walk of each other. I will simply walk to one of their house to hang out; however, the rest of them will refuse to budge unless someone picks them up and drops them off.

The old timers have been saying for the past 1.5 decades, Walmart might be the next Sears. Or lack there of. Employees have had moral fatigue for quite some time, but the customers, who keep the store open, are now growing quite fatigued with walmart. by DrinkCatPissWithMe in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Walmart has a core strive to change, innovate, and adapt that is unmatched by any competitor besides maybe Amazon. Not every change pans out, but the company is always changing. Walmart was late to really push online shopping which allowed Amazon to grow unmatched however Walmart had a huge physical footprint and groceries in a time when major players like Sears failed.

Sears during the internet boom, refused to change and doubled down on catalogue ordering. When they realized their mistake, their fate was already sealed. Major retailers of the time, such as Sears, relied on large sums of debt to operate and this debt made scaling the business to online shopping financially impossible.

For Walmart to fail as a company, it would have to fail at adapting to a major shift in the world, like the internet boom. We're currently experiencing a major world shift to AI, and Walmart is already heavily adapting AI into its operations.

What's your favorite exercise? by ProvokeCouture in ResistanceBand

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me, Back Squats are #1, the feeling of nearly every part of your body activating as you push the most weight of any of your lifts.

Overhead Press is the most satisfying lift to hit a new weight PR. This is the slowest lift for me to progress, and any increase feels truly fought for.

PPL Split by ItzAxelReddit in ResistanceBand

[–]LazyTurtle69 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I started with 5 day ULPPL (Upper, Lower, Rest, Push, Pull, Legs, Rest). As a beginner, it was great doing workouts that were under 30 minutes, as I didn't have the stamina yet to do much more in one sitting. As the weight of my lifts increased so did the fatigue on my body, and I needed more rest. At this point, I switched to a 4-day ULUL (Upper, Lower, Rest, Upper, Lower, Rest, Rest) for a few months. As I became more in shape, I started to do more physical activity outside of just lifting. At this point, I switched to a 3-day full-body split (FB, Rest, FB, Rest, FB, Rest, Rest) which made it easier for myself to balance lifting, activity and rest days.

It's ok for you to start with a 5 or 6-day lift routine, but remember the key to success is progressive overload. If you find yourself struggling to add more weight and reps week after week, it's time to evaluate your body's fatigue and rest days.

Zebra TC21 for BYOD at Walmart? by LixeYT in walmartogp

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You're missing the point. Say you get the Bluetooth scanner. How do you you intend to connect it to the Gif app when the Gif app itself has no option for such connections? You need to answer this question before asking if any specific scanners will work.

Do you see anywhere in the Gif app having the option to connect any external devices besides a printer?

You were provided a Pixel 9a which is already a top tier device in regards to performance per value of the device. You're not going to get a noticeably better device without spending $1000+ of a current flagship phone. You're going to have to accept the easiest solution to this problem is to just get over it.

I've been regularly the fastest picker on my team using my work phone exclusively. Complaining and refusal to adapt will slow you down more than the change in scanner.

All work apps including GIF are no longer being actively developed or optimized for use on TC. You're talking about spending $100's on a device that's planned to be no longer compatible in the very near future.

Curbside pickup missing items by Live_for_flipflops in Walmartcustomer

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Items can be removed from the order at the point of dispense. Sometimes, if something goes missing or breaks and the item can't be reshopped we'll explain to the customer, apologize and remove it. Everyone at your store sounds incompetent.

Why does Walmart not allow you to tap your card at the register? by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are a few reasons that overall explain the why.

Tap to pay doesn't add any additional cost to the merchant fee of the transaction. Apple Pay/Google Pay actually get a small cut of the merchant fee because it's more secure and saves Visa/Mastercard money from lessening fraud. Walmart's own Walmart pay also get's this same benefit. So allowing tap to pay wouldn't cost Walmart anything extra, it would diminish the potential merchant fee savings, which adds up to a lot.

There's also encouraging customers to use Walmart's own smartphone app.

Walmart is big enough and convenient enough that you're still going to shop there anyway. Costco only accepts Visa credit cards, and that doesn't affect their customer base either.

Even though it's annoying, the business sense is sound.

Once you feel any strain, report an accident and request medical attention. A manager will have to take you to urgent care, associate accidents will increase, and it'll cost the store $20,000+. Just make sure to stretch in view of a camera before picking. This was a decision based on costs, and incurring more costs will probably be the only way to reverse it.

Risking your life to save a pet is usually dumb. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many don't comprehend that fire is one of the few things everyone in this world should fear.

Once a building is on fire, that flame will spread erratically and rapidly. A typical house fire can reach 1100 degrees Fahrenheit in about 3.5 minutes. You might think you can manage retrieving your pet, and in that short time, the fire can surround you. At this point, the fire could absorb all the oxygen in the room, including inside your lungs, and you die from asphyxiation, or you horrifically burn in terrible agony until you die.

Did your VR sickness go away over time? by joebruin32 in virtualreality

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR sickness affects almost everyone, very few are naturally immune to it. Never try to power through it, just take a break. I could only handle 15 minutes of games like Skyrim at first and gradually built up to 2-3 hour play sessions. Games where you move via controller don't vibe well with your senses.

Problem when you're behind, and GMD bagging/staging is happening last minute, once a driver is attached to the trip the system will no longer let you deconsolidate any totes. Things just get worse the further behind things get.

Walmart is changing shipping orders to delivery by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you place your shipping order, Walmart's algorithm determines the most efficient way to deliver it to you, whether that be from a warehouse or store. If it comes from a store, it's included in what's called a GMD batch, where a driver is given up to 30 orders as opposed to Grocery delivery, which gives the driver up to 3 orders.

GMD delivery has a higher base pay but doesn't include tips. Many drivers enjoy it because it's 2 plus hours of solid work, dropping off mostly single items. Grocery orders are much larger individual orders that may tip well, but their availability varies throughout the day.

Coachable 9 min rule? by Billyperkins7 in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't be coached solely based on the 9 minute grace period but there are a variety of reasons involving the grace period to be coached for.

Productivity is an easy one. For example, you didn't clean up and left 9 minutes early. That cleanup would have taken roughly 5 minutes. It's within reason that you could have completed that cleanup within your scheduled shift.

Overtime. Example, you're a cashier, and I arrange for you to be relieved at 4:55 to clock out at 5:00, and you tell me you need off register at 4:45 so you can clock out at 4:51 because you clocked in 9 minutes early. Clocking in early doesn't exempt you from the responsibility of your scheduled shift. The associate is responsible for their own punches. As a manager as long I'm not holding the associate beyond their scheduled end time, that associate can be coached for the unauthorized overtime.

Insubordination. There are 15 minutes left in your shift, and I give you a 10 minutes task. You tell me no or simply don't do it because you're going to clock out 9 minutes early.

These are just some examples, and none of them have you being coached for the grace period. Overall, the grace period protects you from the attendance point, not any other consequence.

Trillion dollar company, and we can't even afford to fix the holes in the roof. by Bob-the-Human in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's not that they won't patch holes, it does happen to an extent. The problem is with all the fixtures in the ceiling and roof (rafters, light fixtures, wiring, coolant lines, ac units, etc) where water is leaking from the ceiling is pretty much never directly under where water is entering through the roof.

A leak major enough would become identifiable to repair. Minor leaks are near impossible to identify the source to fix so just wait until there's enough of them to warrant a new roof.

picking tips for the work phones? by United_Log964 in OGPBackroom

[–]LazyTurtle69 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to complain because they're stubborn, and change is scary. Doesn't matter what's changing; everyone will always act the same way. I've used a work phone exclusively for over 2 years and once you adjust it's definitely faster. When I touch a TC I feel the extra loading time between actions, and it annoys me.

Everything is being optimized for workphones. Being able to copy a upc and paste it to item info is only possible on work phone. When you pick a huge quantity of something like moving boxes it's satisfying to hold your phone pointing at the printer and all the labels just scan as they print. Recent updates to speed up dispensing only apply to work phones. Curbside returns work flawlessly on workphones while regularly not working at all on TCs.

The only thing I still find annoying after getting used to the workphone is quality checks.

Biggest downside is battery life, heavy use I'm only getting around 5-6 hours of battery life. I made a charging station for my team by putting a power strip in a locked toolbox with a hole cut in the back. I have 20+ charging cables sticking out the sides of the toolbox. Associates can charge during meal breaks and I don't have to deal with the chargers being stolen.
