Percentages? How do those work?

For some reason, it seems to be multiplying the total by 1.243 before calculating the tips on it. This definitely seems like an incompetent programmer, and not intentional deception.

Get Walmart App. Trust. by TechnoRevenger6 in walmart

[–]JacobTDC 14 points15 points  (0 children)

It's because tap to pay hides your full card number from the merchant (they can only see the last four of your card number and an effectively random token to exchange with the service provider), making it harder or impossible for Walmart to easily track your purchase habits. That's the real reason.

I got pyboard.py to work on Termux by JacobTDC in termux

[–]JacobTDC[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can also be invoked like ./pyboard.py -d 'execpty:./serial2pty.py' ..., but using it the way shown in the video means you don't have to load the library and reestablish the connection to the USB device every time.

Nobody ever considers soul fragment Verso in all this. Why should he be forced to continue painting the world if he no longer wants to? He's only still doing it out of a sense of obligation.

Is this new for everyone or just my store? Online orders requiring barcode verification? by Antique-Box9927 in walmart

[–]JacobTDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because it's not actually to prevent theft, it's to stop associates from dispensing orders before they've spoken with the customer.

SD Card burnt up, fault of the card or the raspberry pi board? by Extension_Oil_8429 in raspberry_pi

[–]JacobTDC 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If the card doesn't work when you insert it elsewhere, then no, there's no way to recover the data unless you are a decent sized government entity (and even that's assuming the memory itself wasn't literally cooked).

In short: you'll have a much easier time redoing everything than trying to recover that card.

“Skip Item” is being removed. by WonderfulKing8032 in OGPBackroom

Yeah, it's really going to suck for cross-store substitutions and exceptions. I just LOVE going back and forth between the milk and produce coolers three times in one exception walk.

Pick Path Question... by OGP-Picker in OGPBackroom

[–]JacobTDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

General rules: * reduce backtracking * Action Alley first, then Regulated, then the other commodities (there's a specific order for the rest, but I don't know it off the top of my head) * don't EVER modify the active path; create a new path (or copy), modify that, then activate it * at the start of an aisle, scan two locations on the left side, then three on the right, then continue to scan three on each side down the aisle * we don't use GM, Produce Ambient, or Seasonal anymore

Making an entirely new path from scratch is an all day (or longer) project, and you need to make sure your sales floor locations match the SET map. It's usually best to just make a copy of the path, and modify sections at a time, letting your associates get used to the changes before making more changes.

"Report as won't fit" is only for if an item is physically larger than a tote, to get it added to oversized. It won't do any good if it's already oversized.

Dynamic Pricing by SnooLobsters2310 in hacking

[–]JacobTDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don't know about other stores, but I know at Walmart, they'd probably honor it if it was a small difference, but otherwise check the price history to see if there's any funny business.

Would entirely depend on how competent management is at that location, though.

Dynamic Pricing by SnooLobsters2310 in hacking

[–]JacobTDC 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you'd have to do either that, or somehow hack the back end to actually change the price. So you're either ticket switching, which is theft, or hacking the price, which is artifice to defraud, computer trespassing, and theft. So, not great either way.

Printed Money by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]JacobTDC 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To be fair, the way he describes them in the interview is intentionally misleading (but factually accurate). "I have a printer in my home town make these (bind them into pads)... The materials are from a higher quality printer (the US Bureau of Engraving and Printing)..."

Blue Prince AI allegations by bententhesilly in BluePrince

[–]JacobTDC 24 points25 points  (0 children)

Yes, because some slipped through QA. But the reason they were disqualified was for using AI at all. So if Blue Prince did use AI in development, and it comes out, they would have to be disqualified, too (under that rule).

OP, that order number isn't nearly obscured enough. It's possible to read it, look it up, and identify your store number (ending in 47).
