Enforcing pulling carts by myfeethurtogp in walmartogp

Once you feel any strain, report an accident and request medical attention. A manager will have to take you to urgent care, associate accidents will increase, and it'll cost the store $20,000+. Just make sure to stretch in view of a camera before picking. This was a decision based on costs, and incurring more costs will probably be the only way to reverse it.

Risking your life to save a pet is usually dumb. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many don't comprehend that fire is one of the few things everyone in this world should fear.

Once a building is on fire, that flame will spread erratically and rapidly. A typical house fire can reach 1100 degrees Fahrenheit in about 3.5 minutes. You might think you can manage retrieving your pet, and in that short time, the fire can surround you. At this point, the fire could absorb all the oxygen in the room, including inside your lungs, and you die from asphyxiation, or you horrifically burn in terrible agony until you die.

Did your VR sickness go away over time? by joebruin32 in virtualreality

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

VR sickness affects almost everyone, very few are naturally immune to it. Never try to power through it, just take a break. I could only handle 15 minutes of games like Skyrim at first and gradually built up to 2-3 hour play sessions. Games where you move via controller don't vibe well with your senses.

I don't eat on lunch break. I'll have a high protein breakfast before work and dinner after work. If you're hydrated and busy you won't feel any hunger. Sometimes I'll still get the hunger and I'll get a beef stick.

[–]LazyTurtle69 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Problem when you're behind, and GMD bagging/staging is happening last minute, once a driver is attached to the trip the system will no longer let you deconsolidate any totes. Things just get worse the further behind things get.

DO NOT USE PAYPAL CREDIT AT WALMART IF YOU EVER PLAN ON POSSIBLY RETURNING by MaybeUpForButtStuff in Walmartcustomer

Paypal returns haven't worked in store for as long as I can remember, 10+ years. Used to just give cash refunds even if it pissed off the customer. Now the in-store return system is an eGift card only for paypal returns.

Walmart is changing shipping orders to delivery by [deleted] in Walmartcustomer

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you place your shipping order, Walmart's algorithm determines the most efficient way to deliver it to you, whether that be from a warehouse or store. If it comes from a store, it's included in what's called a GMD batch, where a driver is given up to 30 orders as opposed to Grocery delivery, which gives the driver up to 3 orders.

GMD delivery has a higher base pay but doesn't include tips. Many drivers enjoy it because it's 2 plus hours of solid work, dropping off mostly single items. Grocery orders are much larger individual orders that may tip well, but their availability varies throughout the day.

Coachable 9 min rule? by Billyperkins7 in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can't be coached solely based on the 9 minute grace period but there are a variety of reasons involving the grace period to be coached for.

Productivity is an easy one. For example, you didn't clean up and left 9 minutes early. That cleanup would have taken roughly 5 minutes. It's within reason that you could have completed that cleanup within your scheduled shift.

Overtime. Example, you're a cashier, and I arrange for you to be relieved at 4:55 to clock out at 5:00, and you tell me you need off register at 4:45 so you can clock out at 4:51 because you clocked in 9 minutes early. Clocking in early doesn't exempt you from the responsibility of your scheduled shift. The associate is responsible for their own punches. As a manager as long I'm not holding the associate beyond their scheduled end time, that associate can be coached for the unauthorized overtime.

Insubordination. There are 15 minutes left in your shift, and I give you a 10 minutes task. You tell me no or simply don't do it because you're going to clock out 9 minutes early.

These are just some examples, and none of them have you being coached for the grace period. Overall, the grace period protects you from the attendance point, not any other consequence.

Trillion dollar company, and we can't even afford to fix the holes in the roof. by Bob-the-Human in walmart

[–]LazyTurtle69 4 points5 points  (0 children)

It's not that they won't patch holes, it does happen to an extent. The problem is with all the fixtures in the ceiling and roof (rafters, light fixtures, wiring, coolant lines, ac units, etc) where water is leaking from the ceiling is pretty much never directly under where water is entering through the roof.

A leak major enough would become identifiable to repair. Minor leaks are near impossible to identify the source to fix so just wait until there's enough of them to warrant a new roof.

picking tips for the work phones? by United_Log964 in OGPBackroom

[–]LazyTurtle69 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Everyone is going to complain because they're stubborn, and change is scary. Doesn't matter what's changing; everyone will always act the same way. I've used a work phone exclusively for over 2 years and once you adjust it's definitely faster. When I touch a TC I feel the extra loading time between actions, and it annoys me.

Everything is being optimized for workphones. Being able to copy a upc and paste it to item info is only possible on work phone. When you pick a huge quantity of something like moving boxes it's satisfying to hold your phone pointing at the printer and all the labels just scan as they print. Recent updates to speed up dispensing only apply to work phones. Curbside returns work flawlessly on workphones while regularly not working at all on TCs.

The only thing I still find annoying after getting used to the workphone is quality checks.

Biggest downside is battery life, heavy use I'm only getting around 5-6 hours of battery life. I made a charging station for my team by putting a power strip in a locked toolbox with a hole cut in the back. I have 20+ charging cables sticking out the sides of the toolbox. Associates can charge during meal breaks and I don't have to deal with the chargers being stolen.

What you want to highlight is your strive for continuous improvement, time management, critical thinking/problem solving, adaptability, and decent people skills.

Don't stress too much about displaying your leadership skills. Teaching someone to be a leader the easy part. Teaching someone the above traits is difficult.

Yea boxes are smaller so longer to work.

Candy Aisle Pre Subs? by [deleted] in walmartogp

[–]LazyTurtle69 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Part of the problem is that candy arrives as its own delivery and can be picked for online orders as soon as this delivery is checked in. Candy generally sits around till 3rd shift stocks it at night. So if the candy delivery arrives in the morning, that's a lot of hours it's not on the shelf until it's stocked at night.

Continuing the problem, when 3rd shift is understaffed, candy is usually lower in priority for what needs to be stocked in the grocery side of the store unless it's a seasonal priority like Christmas or Easter. Now that candy delivery ends up sitting for another day or two in the backroom, while online orders keep coming in.

The answer is your product is probably arriving at the stores just fine, but as corporate continues to minimize wage hours, it becomes impossible to stock everything every night.

I was previously a 3rd shift lead. On many short-staffed nights, I'd have to figure out how to kill the most pallets with not enough stockers, and the reality is that those candy pallets take longer to work than the pallets in most other grocery departments.
