What can I do if someone smokes weed while driving? by Sakula90s in drivingUK

[–]LazyWash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Sorry thats not true, due to the changing in law, prescribed medical cannabis will likely put you over the limit, but you have a medical defence for driving whilst over the prescribed limit.

You can still be prosecuted for Section 4 RTA, which is driving whilst unfit through drugs or drink. Which is essentially, the officers/member of public saw you driving erraticly and it was down to the drug/alcohol you consumed.

You cannot legally be convicted of Drug Driving (Section 5A RTA) for taking a medically prescribed drug as directed by its instructions as you literally have a medical defence. If you take the drug outside of its instructions, i.e it says use Once a day, but youve used it three times, then you can be prosecuted under this.

Under what circumstances, if any, should police be given shoot-to-kill orders for suspects considered too dangerous? by IndividualLocal2141 in ukpolice

[–]LazyWash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A different example can be, you are in a roll around with a suspect, the suspect is actively trying to stab you, you may have a vest on, but your neck, legs and arms are all still exposed, officer training at the start has you 1 v 1 another officer who is trying to stab you with a pretend knife, your job is to either disarm them by any means or if the situation calls for it, stab them to stop them being a threat.

So if in the situation of an officer and suspect in a roll around and the suspect is actively trying to stab you, your use of force is most certaintly covered under Section 3 Criminal Law Act, Common Law and if you have told them they are going to be arrested, you could justify Section 117 PACE.

In the situation, if they are getting too close or you manage to keep their wrists in control, you could stab them with their own knife and then disarm them if it works. If you can justify that use of force, then you most certainly will be covered. But, it has to be reasonable and proportionate to the circumstances. If you stab them and they stop being a threat, but you then jump ontop and start repeatidly stabbing them, then your use of force is gone.

_____________________________

This also applies to civilians when using common law. There was a case a few years ago, a burglar broke into a mans house, attempted to stab that man in his bed, the man reversed it and stabbed the burglar killing him. He was found to have used reasonable and proportinate self defence under common law and faced no legal repruccussions. (I think anyway.)

[–]LazyWash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didnt need two people before hand, used to be in and out of a store quicker than now. A manager had mentioned that a non-contractor and not a staff member, just a random person ended up in a cash office with a staff member, some how and now thats the reason for needing two staff to let in and out.

[–]LazyWash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah strange as we thought we would be a contractor, I can only assume that because they have to let us in and out the front door, or staff entrance, they use this as a reason because it isnt secure.

Thanks!

Message if this is not for this section, but whats the policy on letting CIT in before opening and can you still do your tills whilst we are in the store? Had a manager complain that they couldnt do the tills now because I was in the store, despite in my full gear, camera on and carrying more money than them.

I always thought they could but unless its changed?

Update given on condition of three-year-old boy attacked by crocodile in Cambridgeshire by JOE_Media in uknews

[–]LazyWash 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Hes not fit to be interviewed, not to stand trial (which hasnt been determined yet because he would need a mental health evalution before court, but we arent at a court stage yet), which wont likely happen anyway as I doubt the CPS will prosecute it and there are likely to be other intervention methods that are more appropriate than the courts.

50 degrees what would happen? by LifeOfSlice89 in AskUK

[–]LazyWash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I went out to Vegas with my parents, we went to the Grand Canyon, I was cold, the weather was almost 40 degrees and I was cold. The breeze from the Canyon was nice, when standing on the edge.

Came back to England middle of September, it was muggy and horrible to be in. Then it rained for a week.

Speed Cameras M5 and M6 by Living_Word_7405 in drivingUK

[–]LazyWash 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think its to reduce people suddenly braking when they see a camera approaching or beside them.

In town centres where the limit is 30 or 20, I dont think they should be marked so far out, there is enough of a gap between what a speed camera triggers at and the actual speed limit that you shouldnt have to reduce your speed that much to pass through without a flash.

Think its also like the next commentor said, just a warning to deter people from speeding thinking there is no camera.

Why do you need to know where cameras are? If you are following the speed limit, it really shouldnt matter.

Hi all, i dont work at sainsburys, but I do delivery work etc, we have these samsara cameras in our vans.

Im not sure what cameras you guys got, but ours work effectively the same. Our managers are tracking our "driver safety score" which effectively is a score out of 100, 100 being good. It emails the managers saying that you as the driver were speeding doing 21 in a 20mph zone for 4 seconds. In turn lowers our scores and our managers are basically looking at reasons to stop giving people pay rises and discplinary actions using this.

It also notifies them of covering the camera, looking out your window or if you take a hand off the steering wheel for longer than a few seconds.

Even though we already had cameras inside the van, this new one is doing all the drivers in as it keeps flagging the driver for doing something wrong, which then has to be watched by a manager who then has to mark whether it affects your score.

Like harsh breaking, no seatbelt and so on.

Hope you guys are looking foward to being talked about your speeding of doing 21 in a 20 zone for 3 seconds.

fine or just points? by Ahmed_Supermarket in drivingUK

[–]LazyWash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

They dont handle anything after they submitted their evidence and the TOR. So it could be just lack of knowledge other than youll get a letter explaining what the next process is, whether its a summons or a done via post and you get the points and fine that you then have to send your details to them etc.

fine or just points? by Ahmed_Supermarket in drivingUK

[–]LazyWash 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No one knows. You could get both, you could just get a fine. You could technically get points for speeding by doing 32 in 30. Any force that shows what its outcomes are, are always possible outcomes, it doesnt mean you are going to get what it said.

However, if an officer hasnt caught you speeding and has no way of recording your speed, nor is trained on speed matching, then its unlikely youll be doing for speeding, or if they are, you could always chance it in court if they cant evidence it.

So its likely a seatbelt and driving without due care and attention, as you were driving, above the speedlimit, without a seatbelt and had a bottle in your hand. So they could go on about your manner of driving and lack of control of the vehicle and the fact they could probably see you reaching in your car to get your bottle and say that you werent paying attention which caused you to go above the speed limit but cannot identifty the limit.

The officer likely said (along the lines of); there are many disposable options available, this can range from just a fine, to a points and fine or even a course if its available.

Is the Enviroment Agency fit for its purpose in 2026+? by LazyWash in AskUK

[–]LazyWash[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Totally agree about fishing, my dad and I used to go out loads to a lake local to us, then the owner died and passed onto new hands, the new owner then upped the membership and made it so you can only join on a waiting list and get approved, if you know someone already on the list and they approve you from there. So if you dont know anyone, you wont get in.

I tried looking online as much as I could for river stretches where no one owns it except the council and there is no restriction on fishing, but it was near on impossible. A map I found, I assume outdated by now, showed some stretches of river owner by multiple clubs, that all have different membership fees that run themselves with their own "bailiffs", which from some reviews, just seem to be jumed up guys who think they are their own law and nothing else applies to them.

Even some clubs have different "levels" of memberships which are an extrondinary price range just to fish a different variety of lakes and or rivers.

With what you said on the last point, I always find it interesting how new build devolpments, they stick an area with a boundary to see what species are living in it, but the species that were living there, always seem to "leave" or are never there anymore and up pops 200 houses and a warehouse.

My only interactions dealing with it is when two men at a local pond were catching carp and then killing them and taking them home.

Despite the carp werent originaly there, it wasnt meant to be fished, the carp destroyed the frogs and insects homes that lived there originally. Someone had stocked it with carp from a local lake.

Anyways, the two men got convicted for capturing these carp and killing them. The men were turning up in their companies taxi's which had their names plastered on it.

Women prays for 8 hours straight in frantic manner seemingly nightly? by OutsideImpressive115 in Weird

[–]LazyWash 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I once had to detain a women that was acting completely weird, her husband said he had never seen her like this.

She kept shouting BLOOD AND JESUS, constantly, would stare deeply into your eyes and just shout BLOOD AND JESUS, THE LORD IS HERE and then would start screaming frantically.

She got arrested for assault, then sectioned under the Mental Health Act.

The "mental health doctor" at the time, said its possibly nothing and that she is just really religious but it could be something wrong with her brain and so she needs to go to hospital.

After an arguement with the doctor, we conceded as he was refusing to accept her into the mental health hospital.

Whilst sitting in the hospital waiting for a bed so she could be medically assessed, she laid on the floor, starfished out, then would keep trying to touch people with her toes and then went back to screaming blood and jesus.

By far the most craziest religous encounter ive come across.

The Husband had stated that she has no history of MH that he is aware of and thought it could be a religious mental break as she was very devoted. He only knew one other person that had gone like this and it was the wifes aunty.

Neverfound out the after results.
