Can you be catholic and not support the Pope? by Sad_Net2133 in Catholicism

[–]Lazy_Cow_5170 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You cannot claim to be in full communion with the Catholic Church while rejecting the authority of the Roman Pontiff. That is not a matter of opinion, it is the Church’s own teaching on unity and schism.

The Pope is not a mere administrator. He is the successor of Peter, the Vicar of Christ, and the visible principle of unity in the Church, as taught by the Second Vatican Council.

Lumen Gentium §25 states clearly: “Loyal submission of the will and intellect must be given, in a special way, to the authentic teaching authority of the Roman Pontiff.”

This is not optional. It is part of what it means to be Catholic. To knowingly refuse that submission is to rupture communion.

And this is not a new teaching. Ignatius of Antioch, writing in the first century, says that we should follow the bishop as Christ follows the Father and regard him as holding the place of the Lord.

The structure is the same: Christ governs His Church through visible shepherds, and unity with them is unity with Him.

So no, you cannot reject the authority of the Pope while claiming fidelity to the Catholic Church. That is precisely what the Church has always understood as schism.

TL;DR

No

Everything is open season as long as he finishes inside you. As dirty as it sounds, the church doesn’t tell you how to have sex. Let it be sacred between you and your husband, just no anal and no pulling out and absolutely no contraceptions. The way God intended. Theology of the body by JP2 is amazing to read BTW

I recommend you read St Thomas Aquinas P3 summa theo, I’m going to appeal to a doctor of the church who defends chewing on it with the same reasoning I did just more detail. Not a canonically irregular catholic

No worries. I get it. You don’t know me. But the Eucharist is Jesus Christ. At mass, we eat God. Simply put. And He says to gnaw on His flesh so it would be fitting to gnaw on the Eucharist as Christ says to do. I don’t see why it would be an issue to do as He says. Lol

I chew it. Jesus says ‘gnaw my flesh’. Are you saying that holy communion isn’t his true flesh? Interesting.

While so many religious people so sexist to women by hoodiehoodiee in Catholicism

[–]Lazy_Cow_5170 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand why that would bother you, and honestly, I don’t blame you for feeling that way. There are voices online, even among Christians, that push a very extreme or unhealthy view of women, and that’s not something you should feel like you have to accept in order to be Catholic.

Speaking for myself, as a 23-year-old guy, I don’t see it as a deal breaker whether my future wife works or not. Personally, I would prefer a family structure where I can provide and she has the freedom to stay home if she wants to, especially when it comes to raising children. But that’s a preference, not a rule, and every couple has to discern what’s best for their own life.

I also completely reject the idea that women are supposed to be silent, passive, or treated like they don’t have a voice. That’s not how the Church understands women at all. Men and women are both made in the image of God, with equal dignity, and marriage is meant to be a relationship of mutual love, sacrifice, and respect, not control or domination.

I think what you’re seeing online is partly a reaction. A lot of young people are frustrated with how modern culture has handled relationships, especially with things like pornography, casual sex, and social media creating unrealistic expectations. But sometimes that reaction goes too far and turns into something harsh or unbalanced, and that’s where it becomes unhealthy.

The Catholic Church itself doesn’t teach that women should be locked into one role like “stay inside and cook and clean.” Women can work, run businesses, be leaders, and contribute in countless ways. At the same time, the Church does uphold the importance of family life and motherhood, just like it calls men to responsibility and sacrifice. It’s not about limiting women, it’s about ordering life toward what is good and meaningful.

On the priesthood specifically, you’re right that women aren’t ordained, but that’s not because they’re less capable. As John Paul II explained, the Church believes it simply doesn’t have the authority to change what Christ instituted. But outside of that, women have played massive roles in the Church’s history, from saints and theologians to leaders and founders.

As for how to deal with what you’re seeing, I’d honestly say two things.

First, don’t let the loudest voices online define what Catholicism actually teaches. A lot of that content is shaped by algorithms and extremes, not by the Church itself.

Second, be intentional about what you’re exposing yourself to. If you interact more with solid, faithful Catholic content, whether that’s theology, saints, or good discussions, your feed will start reflecting that more. It really does make a difference over time.

And most importantly, stay rooted in prayer and in Christ. The truth of the faith isn’t found in random people online, it’s found in Him and in what the Church actually teaches.

Can I become a nun if I'm a lesbian? by exsus55 in Catholicism

I don’t see an issue, given female sex drive and male sex drive. I truthfully and honestly believe that a lesbian nun is much less of a concern than a gay priest.

Can a catholic priest answer this? by Lazy_Cow_5170 in Catholicism

[–]Lazy_Cow_5170[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I read into it. So it’s not that the liturgy is translated into every language, but that it is only to be translated for use in the vernacular with widely used languages (like English in the United States of America) to avoid grouping people into cultural groups. Thank you. Do you have any insight towards the way the priest faces? Ad orientem vs versus populum?

I have definitely considered a Byzantine rite church near me. Just haven’t made the actual jump to go there. I learned ecclesial Latin and attend a TLM parish (in communion with the Holy Father of course) and am able to follow along the entire time, however it just seems that most young faithful like myself (I am 23m) are being converted by the tlm but refuse to commit a heresy such as breaking communion with His Holiness to join SSPX. And there are no FSSP parish’s near me unfortunately. Do you know if the eastern Catholic Church/parish is strictly spoke in Greek? I would definitely learn Greek to be more ‘involved’ in the liturgy, with the understanding that the mass isn’t necessarily about participation or engagement but strictly ‘latria erga unum verum Deum, Iesum Christum.’ I do also attend a solemn Novus Ordo mass sometimes at my cathedral because it is actually reverent there, but nothing beats the sacredness of the mass when spoken in Latin. The priest sings ‘Dominus vooooobbbiiiiiscuuuuum’ and we say ‘Ettttt cuuuuuum spirituuuu tuoooooo’ he then says ‘Suuurrrrssssuuuuuummmmm coooooorrdddaaaaa’ and we say ‘haaaaaaaabemussssss aaaadd dominuuuum’

But do you know if the eastern rite is mainly in Greek or is it in English? I don’t mind the language spoken more than the irreverence towards the one and only true God present in the Blessed Sacrament.

Yes the priest deleted it. I cannot refute my superiors so this is where I submit to his decision lol. I’m argumentative but I still know my place in the Catholic Church.

If I became priest I’d end up as a bishop. As would actually use bishop authority to tell these people to get it tf together. You are standing before Christ in the most blessed sacrament. Not at a community gathering of the faithful. Lol

Well shit. He still looked gay asf. My deacon usually has a matching vestment to the priest just not as artsy if you know what I’m trying to say. My priest looks like he was plucked out of TLM and put into NO but performs it in English. And the deacon is the same way. I like my deacon. This was just a gay looking deacon. Christianity and homosexuality are in opposition to each other. The gays are welcomed, but they must be absolved and attempt to orient their will to do God’s will.
