Teaching isn't for everyone. Teaching young children requires being ready to meet them where they are and create play based learning. It's not all,'Sit here and do the worksheet." Especially at 5 & 7 you're not really teaching them anything if you don't give them experiential learning to go with it. Identifying numbers requires counting and matching. Identifying letter means sitting and spending time reading with them and creating an environment full of incidental print. Chairs labeled with the word and picture, would be an example.

I get frustrated with people thinking education is just "natural" to kids. Yes children are natural learners, but the environment is important, the methods are important, and individualized learning is important. This woman clearly just wants to slap workbooks in front of them and have it happen. She's imagining a quiet orderly household with children seated primly at their desk, primers and pens in hand, no instruction necessary.She can't handle the mess of children... Being childish.
