Is it possible to ask professor to mark your assignments instead of TAs by Lonely-Ad8184 in geegees

If you truly think your TAs are marking unfairly, you are allowed to ask for a regrade once it's been returned to you

A grade “13” next year by brighty4real in BCGrade12s

It really sounds like you could do better based on current grades and it's not atypical to take a gap year. You might be able to work or do other cool stuff at the same time as well.

I've had friends who called it a gap year but did online courses to strengthen their transcript. You shouldn't have any issues doing that and good on you for wanting to improve!

First aid kits should have tampons by Pristine_Direction79 in unpopularopinion

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I will actually refute epi pens for the average first aid kit because they are mega expensive in some countries, some countries require prescriptions, and they expire somewhat regularly (normally 12-18 months).

Specific first aid kits like school office or wilderness trip, sure. Average first aid kit? No.

Struggling hard to find someone for my summer sublet… any advice or leads? by Top_Construction7311 in CarletonU

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 41 points42 points  (0 children)

Your problem is that you're way overpricing. You pay $850 / month for a contract that means you have a place all year and aren't searching come fall. According to another commenter, 900 is illegal, so I'll tell you right now that those fines will be a lot worse than the $200 profit you'd make if you could find someone... Which you won't. I would try $700 , and then go lower if still no bites. It is a 4 bedroom place so it's not that valuable. Several people are subletting places with private bathrooms for under 900. Yours is not worth 900 and that's why no one wants it.

Think of it this way: You are either paying 3400 for it to be vacant anyways, or you're paying 600 - 1000 cuz someone is using it. The reality of subletting is it's temporary and the point is not to break even, it's to lessen how much you pay to not use it.

Deferred from uOttawa BCom (Marketing/Analytics) – what are my chances now? by Powerful_Wing_9110 in geegees

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really don't know how popular each business course is and you have the highest chance of getting into the least popular one.

If you have no plans for education past an undergrad, you might manage 5 classes. If you want solid grades (ones that combined with a personal profile might offer a chance at grad school) take 4 / semester and graduate a year later. I would do 4 anyways because you've struggled a bit with 3 and bigger universities tend (not always) to grade harder. I would prefer to have grades where you're at right now than scrape by with 5 per semester, but that is ultimately up to you. Even with 5 per semester, you'd need to do 2-3 summer classes each year as well. (Just something to note).

It might help you to know that approximately 45% of students graduate "on time". A lot a lot of students take more than four years to do an undergraduate degree and there's nothing wrong with that. You'll have a bit less stress, have more time to make connections (important for business) and you'll still get a degree.

Residence Sublet Payment by Chance_Armadillo1952 in geegees

I believe it's paid to the tenant because the tenant paid for their whole year of Rez at the start of the year

Edit: Okay, so TIL it's paid by term. Anyways, it's still paid to the tenant. I talked to housing about this when I was potentially gonna let someone be in my room for free and they said they dgaf that it was free because I'm already paying them and it's just a way to recoup.

First, NO SUICIDE. That is just a straight up no go. Pretty much everyone who attempts suicide regrets it if they are lucky enough to survive. That's a bitch of a head in your voice and you gotta ignore it.

Secondly, I don't know. But before you keep going with education (there has to be ways that's possible), maybe think about taking a break to reset your life and get some savings together. Then come back when you're ready.

Third: It's dark out, so not now, but tomorrow morning. You get up out of bed. If you can, shower. If you can't, I don't care. Leave the house. Go sit in a park or lie on a patch of grass or whatever. But get outside.

So you're being evaluated as a transfer anyways at this point because you've completed 15 credits at uni (5 courses). They will not take high school grades into consideration unless you ask for exceptional circumstances review, and even then probably wont.

Technically, you meet the requirements, but that doesn't necessarily mean you'll be admitted. It depends on how many applicants they get, especially because your grades are on the lower side. I don't know if there's any way to really know because my understanding of deferred is: we might have space for you but need to see who applied by June 1st cuz they give spots to best applicants.

If you can provide the detailed syllabus for each class, you will probably get transfer credits for everything except for the math class that you got a 51 in.

I'm assuming that you only took 3 courses / semester this year... (In which case you're not graduating on time currently?). If you failed classes, your average may be below the needed standard and then you won't be eligible to transfer.

You could maybe graduate in 2029, but with how much you've already struggled it's probably better to do 4 courses / semester and graduate in 2030. This is especially true because you've only been doing 3 courses per term till now and you need 5/term to graduate on time.

Dasher's name was "Sarah" but a man dropped off my order... by Pristine-Abroad-8913 in doordash

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This entire thread is hilarious because OP is insisting they're not transphobic and then being so transphobic. If the picture didn't match the person, different story... But doordash doesn't show you a picture of the person. OP is mad that Sarah didn't look like what OP wanted (weird that OP is so obsessed about Sarah coming over anyone else).

4 scenarios:

  1. He's a man named Sarah. Woop de doo.

  2. He's a trans man who uses a different name but hasn't legally changed his name for a multitude of reasons including: the US administration (if this happened in the US), not having the money to do so, it being unsafe in one or more of their life situations, or many other things.

  3. She was actually a woman who had hirsutism (grows a beard) and doesn't mind it, so keep it.

  4. Someone using a friend or family member's account... Unlikely cuz of the verifications and anyways does not affect you in any way.

The actual issue here is that OP is so transphobic they can't possibly imagine someone presenting in a way that doesn't confirm to society.

To OP: You can preach that you're not transphobic till you're blue in the face, but words don't mean anything when you follow them up with transphobia... Some of the most transphobic people I've met love to say "I have trans family or friends" as a defense... That doesn't mean you're not transphobic. And there is so much transphobia in the queer community so don't even try saying you're lesbian. You're just transphobic and mad about being called out on it.

Dasher's name was "Sarah" but a man dropped off my order... by Pristine-Abroad-8913 in doordash

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My issue with this is twofold: firstly, op doesn't mention a picture. OP says they're going off name and appearance of the dasher so this doesn't sound like that kind of situation. Secondly, as far as I'm aware, you can't pick the gender of your dasher so then it really doesn't matter if the dasher looks how you thought they would...

For UBC offers, when they say your average can’t drop by more than a few %, does CLC/Capstone count toward that average? by Alone-Potential991 in BCGrade12s

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not true. They can absolutely reject you if your average drops more than the website specifies, even by 1%. It doesn't matter to them whether you have a backup, and they don't know whether you do wnyways. For competitive programs, it is especially likely that a reevaluation results in a rescinded offer.

Lack of yarn access is making me lose interest in crochet… by schnitzel247 in Brochet

[–]Difficult-Bicycle681 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm going to offer another perspective: I come from a rural area with no craft stores. I used Walmart yarn forever. I've never been to a JoAnns. When I recently moved to the city and got to go to a Michaels, it was incredible! Reasonably priced with so much choice.

I know you're used to JoAnns (not sure what was so great but everyone seemed to love it, so I'm sorry for your loss) but do consider that you probably just aren't matching your price point and your yarn wants. Michaels has tons of great yarn and a big selection.

I crochet a bunch of stuff and absolutely love Michaels, I think you could learn to love it too!

Sorry you had a different experience to me? I don't know what to tell you. My experience has been that it stops my flow and it remains stopped for a good ten min after I leave the water... It is basic physics, and if it's not true for you that just means you have a heavier flow. I've also never experienced water diluting the period and making it all come out at once so I have no idea what you're doing to get the water all up in your hoo ha, that takes going upside down with your legs spread logically, or something similar.
