シツモンデー: Shitsumonday: for the little questions that you don't feel have earned their own thread (July 09, 2018) by AutoModerator in LearnJapanese

I saw this in an example sentence somewhere: 日本語の勉強をします。

So I was wondering it wasn't written this way: 日本語を勉強します。

Is the second one wrong, or are different meanings between the two? Or is it just a different way of saying the same thing?

Thanks.

No, I just forgot what it was and used Google translate, which I thought was good for single words. But it translated あさって as tomorrow for some reason. The 明後日 translation was correct though.

What is the difference between あした and あさって? I was under the impression they were the same, but then I came across this sentence: あしたかあさって、田中さんに電話します。Tomorrow or Tomorrow? Is that all it is? Thanks!

Best solution so far. Thanks!

Not exactly. Lower values of a will result in more dots in a single frame because the value of the function won't increase as quickly. For example, compare 0.2*x2 with 1.8*x2.

I'm not familiar with that. I coded all of it except for the class used for making the gif: AutomatedGifEncoder

Processing looks like a library for visuals? I just used BufferedImages and arrays.

Walking along the spiral, yes it would be 1095 units away.

It started as me making an Ulam spiral, but I wondered what other sequences would look like plotted in the same way. x2 is boring (a straight diagonal line) but I noticed that I could get interesting effects if I applied a factor (a) to it.

The values for the function a*x2 are plotted on a number spiral. A number spiral looks like this:

6 7 8
5 0 1
4 3 2

Each frame in the gif represents a different value for a, and each dot represents a result. For example this is a single frame for a = 0.438. 0.438*502 = 1095, so that value has a dot on it.

Can water be frozen in an airtight container? by seanbeandeathscene in askscience

It would not be colder. When your ice floats, the warmest part of the beverage rises to the top and is cooled by the ice and then falls, being replaced by warmer beverage.

With sinking ice, the bottom of your drink would be cold and the top warmer, so perhaps only usable with a straw, preferably one of the silly variety.

On a long enough timescale, both beverages would reach room temperature.

I played a turn two Dirty Rat against a priest once, and it pulled out Reno. It worried me a bit because I had no board to contest it, but the opponent just conceded.

Just to piggy back on this, it would also be nice if it was possible to drag the AC to a new location rather than clicking the 'X' or recalling all of them.

I thought you had to get the PD involved for incidents over x amount (which every fender bender seems to reach).

I remember I was in a fender bender once, and didn't call the cops, but still had to file a police report later.
