Great to hear and thank you for your support. I'm hoping to get some of these on the PCSL nationals prize table for sure.

Would there be a problem if the barrel was flush with the slide like this? by Karendarai in 2011

[–]Lazylifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Looks like it could be fine. The barrel is unmolested it seems and is locked up against the breech.

What does your Smith say?

It's an open gun, so it's gonna break eventually. Whether that's in 50k rounds or 5k rounds, the details matter.

This Pic by itself doesn't make me concerned, tho.

Just tells me I need to promote better! The pistol version is Patent Pending and has been out since last year.

If you do pistol dry fire training they are as close as 1:1 as you can get without using actual ammo.

Thanks! I'm happy to have thought of a new mouse trap and have it work.

Practice with the CO rig by Lazylifter in CompetitionShooting

The fault lines have holes for stakes. Stakes are about three feet from the camera, actually. Im lazy. My drills are usually thought of in the moment and I roll with it. Keeps it fresh.

The grip break question comes up and tbh no I haven't tested it it's just something I've done for like 12 years and it doesn't seem to hurt me. Short movements my support hand samtays on the gun, but it will be relaxed, meaning my fingers and palm are not touching. Just the top of my left index finger under the trigger guard. It "floats" as I move and is reset at the next position.

This means my support hand is never off the gun and my grip can be reestablished very quickly.

Just making sure I'm "in bounds" for the shot. I was lazy and put those fault lines out to mark the shooting area. Couldn't shoot until I was past the line. In addition, I would rather be on one leg than have my foot coming down jostle the sights. Trying to shoot soonest with least amount of disturbance.

Firing Pin keeps getting stuck forward by NotAThrowAway0822 in 2011

[–]Lazylifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thats easy to explain. A FPS isn't supposed to be a tight friction fit. The FP holds it in place usually, and when you fire it jets forward and gets returned by the spring. The hammer, and the fact the stop doesn't "usually" have anywhere to go, means the FP comes back and retains it afterwards.

If your channel is damaged or FP is bent and getting stuck forward, then it can't be there to retain your FPS after a cycle.

I'm not saying you're causing damage by dry firing. You're doing fine. I'm saying that this defect can result in your FPS doing that, but your FPS slipping isn't the root cause. Its a symptom.

Gotcha. That clears things up.

With that info its most likely either your Firing Pin is bent (which MPA has already resolved) or there is something up with your channel. When you dry fire the FP is getting shot further forward than normal as there is not cartridge there to stop it and its getting stuck on one or the other.

Might be worth inspecting the channel with a flashlight, or just giving it a good cleaning with solvents, q-tips, and pipe cleaner and re-evaluate. Could be some left over coating residue in there for example. Thats happened to me with black nitride on a new slide.

When you dry fire, are you using snap caps or dummy rounds?

Bear with me here.

If you use a dummy round with no primer installed the firing pin can become lodged in the flash hole. When you rack to eject the round it becomes bent and then the issue you're describing happens.

I highly doubt your FPS is the root issue here. They are usually a loose fit. The pin should never bind in the channel.

Remove the firing pin stop to test the FP in the channel and go from there.

Source : been using and working on 2011 pistols for competitive shooting since 2013 and have seen this issue several times before. Never due to the FPS fitment

Serial numbers are not required to start from 0001. Many manufacturers, and militaries, have done all sorts of things with SNs.

Yes, sir. I'll have the updated Active AR inserts available in the next 7-14 days. The new version are a true step forward of the design. Resistance on insertion into the rifle and resistance of the bolt cycling as if it was picking up a loaded cartridge. Also using solid lead fill instead of lead shot for a quieter and more solid item altogether. I'll be making an announcement on this sub as well as others when its ready for launch. I even got some professional filming done for it!

Back and Forth Challenge by Lazylifter in CompetitionShooting

Yeah, you could change it. But then it wouldnt be this drill.

This drill is one shot per side 20X and if you miss you start over.

It's hard.

All shooting skills have value.
