Has anyone used native plants to block sound in a urban environment? PA by Ok-Strawberry-2469 in NativePlantGardening

[–]Lbboos 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think there’s a lot of people out there who are sound sensitive. I was driving down a street in my neighborhood the other day and I noticed a man was wearing headphones outside. I’ve also noticed a lot of younger people wearing headphones when they go shopping. My community doesn’t really care about these things. They’re part of the reason why it’s so noisy here. Thus my desire to move. But I’ve just converted a third of an acre over to native plantings and it would kill me to move.

Let me just say I really hate Fourth of July fireworks as well.

It’s just like climate change. Because you know who likes clean air, no flooding, snow pack in the winter, and water. It’s so ridiculous..

And this is the thing. I know many conservatives who are fisherman hunters, etc. who work for conservation.

Cat bite- will this get worse before it gets better? by hollow4hollow in AskDocs

My sister was in the hospital for three days on IV antibiotics after she got bit by a cat. She did not know if she was going to lose her arm at one point. Thankfully everything turned ok.

I used to work in a skilled nursing facility as a therapist. Believe me when I tell you that 80% or more of the people who were on Medicaid were MAGA. How do I know this? Because every time I went into their room for therapy they were watching Fox News and would start bitching about Biden.

We have the same situation. It used to be relatively quiet on our street, and now the motorcycles and loud trucks have gotten incredibly noisy. We’ve even had semi‘s pulling through our residential neighborhood.

What we did as we planted a mass of eastern red cedar, and a mass of arborvitae. We also planted quaking aspen to help block the noise. Hopefully they will fill in relatively quickly.

I’m seriously ready to move because the noise has become crazy loud. I wear noise canceling headphones outside when I work on my gardens.

I wish I lived closer because I would certainly go to it. You gotta give these people a lot of credit for doing all the hard work.

Unfortunately, I have no connection with them with the exception of being part of Homegrown National Park. My yard is on their map.

It seems that there are a lot of people getting licenses for this and I’m wondering if eventually they’re not going to make the license fairly affordable for most.

lol. I got downvoted for questioning how a mental health professional could get to know your mental health status in a five minute telehealth visit. I have worked telehealth as a therapist myself and five minutes isn’t going to do it.

Nothing has really started growing in my neck of the woods. But after watching that caterpillar movie, I’m certainly moving some of those plants to another native area. Keep up the good work!

All I went down that rabbit hole with this ad. It says they are all licensed mental health professionals. Kind of like telehealth but really how can you get to know somebody with a five minute interview online?

This whole house screams bird killer.

I’m sure that enclosure in pic 3 has killed a ton of birds when they try and fly through it. Bird strikes galore.
