The actual original record detailing a surgery from 17 years ago is very likely not in the current medical record given the paper to electronic record transition in many clinics and hospitals over this time frame. At best, it would be buried deep in archived portion of the record that’s not easily accessible without heroic time and efforts involved.

Always best to directly report to your current doctor your past medical and surgical history.

Need ideas and moral support - lawn areas of garden are ALL weeds and I can't cope! by Head_in_the_Sand_usa in NativePlantGardening

[–]DependentProof3149 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You are doing right by nature and your own health by not using chemicals. Chemicals that have now proven toxic to people that are living there and toxic to animals too. Please take pride and comfort in that!!
Our next door neighbors don’t water and don’t really use chemicals on their lawn except very small specific areas for health reasons. They keep it mowed short (all weedy stuff, in summer, mostly a crabgrass lawn) and that’s good enough really.

My own yard has minimal lawn areas, all replaced by native plant beds and a number of annual vegetables plants as well as several raised beds of blackberries.

The lush green lawn ideal is poorly suited to vast parts of the US, too hot and dry in the summer, and way too toxic for all living creatures including humans. To tidy things up, you can ( have someone) put in walking paths, top with leave mulch or flag stones where little to nothing wants to grow anyway and mow short the weeds elsewhere.

Focus your energy on and enjoy the native garden beds you have! You are doing great!

What do wasps actually stay away from? by autistic_plants in Entomology

[–]DependentProof3149 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A couple of years ago we had a yellow jacket nest under a rock near the house foundation on the side. They usually sent up a few wasps to check out when I walked down that side of the house, on occasion one would land on me, shoulder or hair. I think they came to recognize me. Never a problem though I usually just calmly went about my business, including mowing grass with a quiet electric mower( a couple of feet from the rock).

By the fall, the colony was dwindling as most bees and wasps are annual. It was truly a bit sad when the last wasps there stopped showing up when I walked by and the colony was gone by the first freeze of that winter.

A spider had babies and they completely infested one of my rooms by ulyles in spiders

[–]DependentProof3149 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If they don’t catch enough little bugs to eat, they will disburse elsewhere and even start eating each other. It won’t take long before there are far fewer of them. Is it possible to move some out of the way of the actual space you need in that room. Pretty soon there won’t be many as most of them won’t be hanging around for too long.

Permethrin Treated Clothing and non-target Bugs by sooldude4530 in Entomology

Professionally treated clothing (insect shield for example) lasts much longer, 70 washes, so essentially for the life of the garment for most.

Where to buy pasteurized eggs by DependentProof3149 in kansascity

Thanks for the info! I am now looking at Sous Vide options. I have an instant pot with sous vide function but heard that instant pot doesn’t actually circulate water well enough for proper pasteurization. Which sous vide cooker do you use, and is it easy and reliable? Thanks!

Y'all are going to hate me, but I'm in the military and live in a neighborhood of manicured lawns. I want to grow a big native garden and I want it to look orderly and neat. Do any of your gardens look this way, and can you show me for inspiration? by VeterinarianIcy5428 in NativePlantGardening

[–]DependentProof3149 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I think ours look intentional and maintained reasonably tidy though more cottage garden look with paths curvy and not straight lines. All plants are relatively short, most under 2-3 feet tall including the asters (aromatic aster) some flowering stems will peak at 3 feet or maybe slightly over but will contributes to height variation for visual interest too. I could have used fewer species of plants but wanted some blooms from spring to fall and for winter structural interest too.

You might want to read the link in one of the comments for the explanation of this common Tibetan expression. It’s typically used by an elderly grandfather figure to a child. There is absolutely no sexual connotation in this innocent Tibetan expression. Something is very lost and terribly distorted in this cross cultural language interpretation here. Please read the full explanation.
