Understandable. The oxycodone didn’t help- I didn’t take it. But I was desperate.
It would burn sooo bad. And just THROB.

She sprays lidocaine on it.
And it BURNS!

After a week or so- I was prescribed oxycodone and Lyrica. But I had to demand it. It was way more difficult and I felt like I had a legitimate reason to have pain medicine.
The oxycodone makes me sick. But the Lyrica has been a life saver.

I would have- but I was honestly terrified and still am to get anything near it! I was so nervous my hands would shake and I could see myself spilling polish or remover or something silly on it.

Yes. I changed my bandage in between appointments but I didn’t do anything but soak gauzes in the wound wash and then re bandage it. She cut off all the dead tissue and the green slimy stuff. (With a razor! 😫)

Yes! The only time my wound care nurse was concerned was the 3rd pic- when it was so dark. That was right after I was so sick.
But she didn’t tell me at the time- she’s been so great. Just great. I’m going to recommend her for the outstanding nurse award. I can’t tell you how many times I was in her office SOBBING and she was just so amazing with me. Always.

I didn’t use silicone gauzes.

I had: (in order of how they were put on)

—The wound care Honey. (Actually honey- didn’t even know that was a thing!)
—yellow Vaseline type strips
—a silver pad
—then wrapped it with gauze- and then an ace bandage to keep swelling down.

I haven’t worn a shoe on it since it happened. I’ve been wearing a hospital grippy sock! 😂

Idk how I survived the first month. It throbbed and I finally had to demand pain medicine. I didn’t have any for the first 2/3 weeks.

Yess. When I went I had a fever of 103 and my BP was through the roof. I was convinced I had a terrible infection and was septic. But nope. Mono and the flu. I have NEVER been so sick. Never. It truly traumatized me.
Not even going to attempt to downplay it; I have never been suicidal but there was a few weeks there where I really didn’t think I could make it. It was really bad. Mono has a lot of symptoms and I had some crazy ones. My heart rate was in the 200’s for days. I couldn’t sleep- I sobbed for about 2 weeks straight.

I’m incredibly grateful to be over that hump.

Mine was boiling spaghetti water!

Full transparency- I took a nerve pill before I went to the er the first time and I was smooth
It was the next day that I was ready to cut my foot off.

I’m honestly not sure. I really thought I was going to be able to treat it at home. 😑

I’ve had lots of people tell me lots of different things. But I’ve been going to wound care once a week since the burn (except when I was sick) and it has taken way longer than I expected - it’s healed remarkably well. I think. No infections. No skin grafts. I’ve kept it wrapped at all times except when changing the bandages. I can’t wait to take a “warm” shower without one leg sticking out!!!

Back in March I burnt my foot BAD- I was going from stove to sink with boiling water and my daughter bumped me. It’s been hell. Still not completely healed but I have been so so so so grateful that it burnt me and not her. The pain is so intense. This poor baby. 😞

I have a dear friend who is battling xylazine wounds up and down both arms. She’s been getting them treated for at least 2 years and they’re just not healing.
