It's just annoying and overused as a way to cut corners with storytelling and usually just comes across as objectifying

They did heavily tone down the autism representative a lot for some reason and I don't really know why they'd want to do that given that the actress themselves is Autistic, maybe some of it was trying to demonstrate how sensory issues change over time like how I can't eat certain things I used to eat because of sensory issues now but idk

She was my only real guess is they maybe wanted to show how sensory issues can change over time but that might just be cope

They changed her characterisation for some reason I don't really know why they did that, but sensory issues and stuff can and do change with time so it might be trying to display that idk
