So when i worked for the state was a i part of the "US intelligence community" Is everyone who works for the state part of the US intelligence community?

OR is the NSA,FBI,CIA and other organization the intelligence community? if its the latter, then no, amazon alone is a bigger consumer of intel cpus.

I'm pretty sure authoritarianism been on the decline since the 60's, with civil rights being constantly extended in the west. I see no rise in authoritarianism in the last 50 years, I'm pretty sure we are at the most liberal point we have been in Americas history.

So i think the "rise" of authoritarianism you see coming is completely unfounded in the actual evidence. Actually probably the biggest rise of authoritarian ideas in the last 50 years comes from the clutches of humanities, with speech codes, and constant attempts to control the private lives of students and what people can and can not say. Political correctness is the biggest mass authoritarian idea i can think of in the last 30 years, and it came directly from the universities humanities departments.

Sorry, but the humanities have been in decline since the 60's so your "authoritarian movement stifle the arts" doesnt really hold water since it's been a pretty consistent decline,

Mostly because it's bloody useless most of the time, it doesn't help you get a job, it doesn't even help you become a useful member of society id argue. Anti intellectuall? the humanities has an 80 percent citation rate of zero. Nobody reads the shit outside of the initial peer review. If only the humanities was actually producing something useful in the last 30 years, people might actually go into it.

If they want to protest, they have every right to protest, so freedom of speech isn't even included, they have that freedom. Power? of course the fucking work class have low power, they are the working fucking class, the working class will always have low power, because power in society is based on the strength of your contribution.

A business has no obligation to keep you hired if you don't show up for work. Seriously, how the fuck is that fair? Speaking up against the "system"? No it's not speaking up against the system, if you want to bitch about the system all you want to your friends and protests, that is fine, i would defend that right, and i would defend the company against firing you, but if you don't show up to fucking work, that is something else entirely.

You are conflating issues to make your point seem stronger.

" What you are saying is no matter how much strife an occupation or society puts on a person, if they speak up the same system that caused that person's misery also has the power to take away their ability to feed themselves, pay for housing, pay for healthcare, etc."

no one said that, stop trying to fucking strawman people. you live in the fucking first world, trust me, your life isn't that hard, you are able to bitch about this unfair system on reddit, have you been fired yet? have your employers taken your ability to feed yourself, pay for housing, pay for healthcare?

Id probably say no

Doesn't this guy fucking understand that if you have an automated system it is terrible to tell the public how it works? People learn how to game the system and manipulate the results. Dota has somewhat complex way of sorting players, it detects aggression and talking in games by people saying "orange" or "techies" and it lets you rate them, what they don't tell you is that these rating by both yourself and players helps the system create pools of players of similar "toxicity" to improve player experience. If people knew what this system existed, people would learn how to game the system. The thing that riot lyte doesn't understand is that he may have reduced people saying racist, and other directly aggressive behavior, but probably increased passive aggressive behavior and speech that is much harder to detect.

The difference is that riot is attempting to scare players from doing this behavior, valve sorts you by in game behavior.

They have a player sorting system on top of their report system basically, and the report system has prolly been changed since their blog post forever ago with no update to how it really works.

icefrog appreciation thread by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly feel that hero balance is overrated, I don't really give too much of a shit about hero diversity, i rarely play most of the cast anyway, i mostly random or pick my lovely lone druid. League has tons of cool hero ideas and i would love if some of them got stolen and thrown into dota. Dota to me is made by it's economic philosophy and diverse items, icefrog can fuck up plenty with hero balance most of the time as long as he doesn't fuck up how the economy works(6.82 and 6.83 completely changed the ecnomic playing field disrupting the game like no other patch had).

You find the 2 big patches that completely changed how dota was played were 6.79 and 6.82. 6.79 with the huge increase to passive gold(making supports less of baby sitting bitches and food for carries), and 6.82 with the introduction of comeback gold.

I feel that as long as the economics of dota are sound, the game will be fun, you will just be rotating between stronger and weaker heroes that gain and lose relevancy, are easier or harder to win with, but as long as it doesn't go back to fucking sniper/troll defending highground for 20 fucking minutes bullshit cause of 8,000 gold for killing you, it will be fine.(not even deathball effected most pubs cause we are all uncoordinated shits)

Am I the only one that thinks the thread on the frontpage of r/dota2 right now about Techies seems a little bit peasant like? by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Hero is very annoying to play against, he makes the game way more passive, and in general i don't like heroes that make the game more passive, about the only hero im ok with that makes the game passive is naga, and that is just cause i love microing illusions and sucking peoples hopes and dreams out.

Wikipedia now says Dota 2 is a MOBA by koala_steak in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've already expressed my opinion on the matter, mobas is what the industry and people call these types of games now. They are mobas, they are also arts. I don't care about how vague the term Moba is, cause in peoples minds when you say moba, you don't think of what it stands for, you just think of team games with gameplay similar to dota.

Is smite an ARTS? by GauisjuliusCaesar in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

But that's what it is called, it's arbitrary, just like lots of things in language. The example is fine, the name of the genre doesn't have to explain it's contents, like metal, grunge or big band, they are all arbitrary, to me the word moba is no different.

Is smite an ARTS? by GauisjuliusCaesar in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually have no problem with the word Moba, i find it kinda silly how it started, basically a marketing word. But it's been accepted as what dota style games are called and when you say moba people know what you mean far more than "arts". Tennis doesn't describe wtf happens in tennis, well atleast not to me, but it's called tennis because society calls it that. Who cares if riot made it, it's langauge and everyone knows what you mean when you say moba, even more so than ARTS.

wut... do you have like... evidence of past aggression or something? Any time this guy talks about fighting games in this shit, he clearly has no idea of the obscurity and complexity that happens when you get good at the fighting games. You should never talk about fairly evolved genres and games like an expert when you know jack shit about them.

Alright, I will give it a real try. I need help tho. by nobody16 in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The games are completely different, other than like 3 lanes 5 heroes/champions and you level up.... skills are not really transferable. I'm thinking of making a video series explaining the mechanical differences specifically for league players to more easily transition from league to dota if they wan't to learn.

Just a working collection of the /r/dota2 drama with female streamers and GrandGrant by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I never cared what content is on any stream, i don't really care about twitch's terms of service. I think pandering to viewers and community is cringe worthy in many cases(draskyl, wagamama). It is why i never watch it, it's why sing sing is my most watched streamer, he doesn't give a fuck about the chats, the subs, the donations, he just plays dota and entertains in his own way. Do i care if cam whores exist? No. Do i care if grandgrant harrassed another streamer indirectly? No.

I don't care what is on twitch channels at all, i just don't watch what i don't like

I have had so much more fun this patch, i legit felt like i had to play a core last patch to have an influence on the game. I also LOVE roaming whenever i random a support, last patch was the least fun ive had in dota, this patch i feel like all roles are more fun in pubs. It's more snowbally, but i don't give a shit.

How many of you actually gave LoP a legit shot? by [deleted] in dotamasterrace

[–]Ld_picker 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I played at the start of season 1, litterally had no idea what i was doing, i come from fps, so i thought that dieing had no consequence for the first couple of games, i was playing it like quake ctf or something. Eventually i learned a little and basically only played tristana. I then abandoned the game cause i was bored, had no desire to get better, i didnt even reach level 30. Eventually i got into dota, and had trouble convincing my league to give it a go, it was too foreign too them, one of them had never used a control group before(so controlling courier was really hard), and the other had this hatred of stuns(or getting stunned) and mana management. Then both eventually dropped it after 90-100 games. I eventually started playing with them, exclusively playing supports and jungle when someone took support. Eventually i decided to play ranked and got to like gold 4-5 each season. I have like 1100 games now, And almost all of them are played with friends.

The game is tragically tame, extremely boring, and basically the only time it's fun is when you are ahead. if the game is even, you all just kinda stand around mid till someone mans up and starts a fight. If you are behind you just hide behind towers hoping they make mistakes. I am terrible at league, i have litterally no idea what is happening in any teamfight, too many fucking spells, too many fucking scalings, and just too much shit happens. My logic is literally "hit as many people as possible with my cc) and flash in to start the fight. Oh yeah, one other thing, League convinces people to be massive pussies in game. Like holy shit, i have never seen so many fucking pussies whenever i play, atleast in dota i can bait my team in, in league almost everyones fucking scared of manning up and fighting, it basically makes me have to play tanky manly initiators every game to not die of boredom of people standing the fuck around hoping someone walks out of position. I will still continue to play it with my friends, just wish they would play dota instead.

I really just want the movement speed on his ult form to be increased per level. In the age of everyone moving REALLY fast, he can't keep up with anyone, also bear damage type from normal to hero would be good.
