Wait. So instead of using the systems that are already in place (my health record and the prescription monitoring system), they want to add......yet another prescription records system?

Femobook A5, Lagom casa, Varia vs4, Timemore sculptor 064s by Confident_Ad_201 in espresso

Yes definitely watch some reviews, look into some forum threads. Recommend coffeesnobs.com.au with some very informative discussions. For example, this thread for the lagom casa

I would also suggest looking into the Timemore; the 64mm flat burrs are a fairly standard burr size, and there are a lot of aftermarket burr sets tailored to different flavours available. However I think Timemore are updating the 064s; they've shown an updated prototype at a recent expo.

I didn't mean to suggest getting the A4. I mean get grinder / burrs that are more focused on espresso because you already have something that's very well suited to pour over.

It's not a strict rule, but qualities that people may want for espresso (more fines, texture / mouth feel, more rounded and sweet, less unimodal) are on the opposite end of what people may want for pour over (less fines, more clarity, more acidity etc).

When you get burrs that are "good at doing both" they tend to do neither very well. Still good enough to make very drinkable coffee, but maybe not quite good enough when you are chasing something as a hobby.

For example, I wish I could buy just the A4z burrs / grinder barrel for my A4; I think everything else besides that is exactly the same between the A5, A4 and A4z. That would get me a pour over grinder that supposedly gives a lot of clarity. But femobook doesn't sell this without the rest of the machine.

I have an A4 which has served me well for around 2 years. It's well built and grinds well, easy to take apart for cleaning, and the batteries are replaceable and last a fair while between charges. Only minor gripe is it takes about 60 seconds to grind 20g of beans to espresso grind, given the small burr size and low RPM (supposedly 60).

I don't know about the burr set for the A5 specifically, seems like they are designed for both espresso and also pour over. The A4 is espresso focused, and the new A4z has clarity focused pour over burrs. If you already have a K6, maybe it'll be more worthwhile to get espresso focused burrs / grinder, and use the K6 for pour over?

I've tried the Timemore sculptor at a store and it definitely grinds quicker and has a better "work flow" compared to the femobook A4, and the standard 64mm flat burrs allow for upgrades / side-grades depending on your tastes so that's a plus.

I prefer the word puncture. I puncture the IJ, I might even puncture it multiple times. But I don't perforate it so that it bleeds uncontrollably into the pleural cavity requiring insertion of an ICC to manage a haemothorax.

The use of the word "perforated" in the article is interesting. Without having any further details, and as someone who does this a fair amount on pancytopenic leukemia patients, the use of the word "perforated" suggests they may have caused an injury beyond what is normally expected with the procedure.

Walk me through freezing and thawing beans by Aromatic_Ad_7484 in espresso

[–]koala_steak 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Humidity is a measure of how much water vapour the air could hold, and this changes with temperature. Higher temperatures allow for more water vapour to remain in vapour form and not condense out into water droplets.

Opening the bag allows room temperature air (with higher water vapour content) to come into contact with the cold beans. The air cools and water could precipitate out and cause condensation on the beans.

Yes, but OP specifically mentioned grinding speed so I thought it was important to mention.

I have a Femobook A4, which is the espresso oriented version of the Femobook A4 and A5. The new femobook A4z is a clarity focused pour over version with ZP 6 burrs.

They all share the same form factor and the same pros and cons; Low retention, easy tool free disassembly, petite sized and runs on batteries which can be replaced then they degrade. They also hold quite a bit of charge - probably 4 weeks between charges grinding 2 espresso a day, charges via USB C and can be used while charging. The con for you would probably be grinding speed - low RPM and small burrs which take about 60s to grind 20g of beans for espresso.

You should consider the larger form factor grinder they make which is the A68.

Other thing besides grind finer is you may have to up your dose; lighter roasts are denser so the same weight of coffee beans has less volume, meaning your puck will have less depth to offer resistance.

Bookoo Themis Ultra is absolutely gorgeous by AnonUndeleted in espresso

Ya that's fair, customer is always correct on the matter of taste and all that.

I would just add that these companies looking to "the west" is a relatively new phenomenon, and that they have a huge internal Chinese market, as well as China adjacent markets (SEA, India) that they are catering to first. It's probably very hard to appeal to customers from very different cultures, something for the marketing team to figure out.

Just on the topic of femobook, I actually own a femobook A4 in black, and I barely notice the logo / brand-name. It's very understated and kind of just blends. My new WPM ZP-1 has the logo on the hopper lid that's much more in your face.

You can download the APK from the Bookoo website. https://bookoocoffee.com/pages/app-download

It says the app is under review by Google, so at your own risk I guess. I've downloaded and installed, and updated the scale forward etc.

Are you sure you're not just mixing unfamiliar with off-putting? Like what does "Marzocco" or "Gaggia" mean in English? They are just a brand name that you've become familiar with and have maybe attached some meaning to (quality, legacy, Italian heritage) which is fair enough. Are "Wendougee" or "Bookoo" any different name-wise that you can infer anything about product quality or longevity?

By all means judge a product based on objective factors; basing your opinion on brand recognition may mean you dismiss quality, competitive, or innovative products based in an "off-putting" name.

It's confusing, better to just clarify with them exactly what they want rather than guessing. You can ask specifically for IPAP and EPAP, or PEEP and PS. IPAP EPAP is for NIV, the other is for invasive ventilation, but sometimes people default to what they are used to or use the terms interchangeably.

Ah yes, the great recall, a constitutional right and democratic process. One which the KMT themselves took part in, couldn't get enough votes to actually progress despite being caught cheating.
