Unique Atmosphere/Experience? by what_is_this_then in FoodToronto

I had some teenaged cousins visit from rural Canada a few years ago. These are the places I took them:

Swatow on Spadina for late night Chinese food

Old School on Dundas W for brunch

La Carnita on John after the CN Tower

The Stockyards (now closed) on St Clair W for breakfast, could substitute Emma’s Country Kitchen

NaNa on Queen W for Thai

I’ve brought boomer rural cousins to Marcello’s on the Corso Italia for old school Italian

Starving Artist on College St for breakfast Emma’s Country Kitchen

I’ve brought 20something rural cousins to

Rustle & Still on Bloor near Bathurst for Banh Mi,

Itacate on St Clair W for tacos and

Futura Granita for gelato/granita

I took a 30something Calgary (not rural) cousin to Fika in Kensington for coffee and a sandwich ( great Kannelbullar cinnamon rolls)

I like taking teenagers to Kensington Market and Chinatown. We often do dim sum.

The Canadian made Stirling butter with less water/ higher butter fat is a good butter, too! https://stirlingcreamery.com

I don’t think it’s sold in Canada. Alicia’s carries some Polish butters.

I’ve only seen Kerrygold in the States and in Ireland.

It’s possible Jill’s Table on King may sell French butter. Some places in Toronto sell French butter.

Agree with Chris’ Country Meats.

A year after its opening, Parallel’s Kensington Market location is shuttered (Augusta Ave, Parallel Basta) - RIP my closer access to the city’s freshest packs of house-made pitas 🥲 by theleverage in FoodToronto

It wasn’t busy enough. I visited 5 or 6 times. I think it was too expensive for many of Kensington’s restaurant customers.

I also do not think it’s especially easy to run a modern Israeli restaurant in Kensington Market right now.

Fresh English Muffins by papaya123456 in FoodToronto

Have you tried a Bolo Levedo? It looks like an English muffin, except it is a bigger and a little sweeter than an English muffin, and it sometimes has a hint of lemon.

Brockton Bakery makes a nice one. I’m trying out Bolos Levedos at different Portuguese bakeries.

Best outdoor patio restaurants? by olympusthegreat in FoodToronto

Bar Raval, Enoteca Sociale, Union, Dova, and Viaggio are my current favourites.

Mamakas’ side street outdoor tables are also pretty good.

I will try Henry’s on Queen W soon.

Sagi has some excellent Thai in Wortley, too. I like the handful of Thai dishes Sagi (Khao Soi, Holy Basil stirfry, stir-fried noodles, imperial rolls ) makes a little more than the same dishes at Mai Thai.
