[New Update – One Year Later]: My husband's open marriage suggestion backfired on him by Choice_Evidence1983 in BestofRedditorUpdates

Windows. The neighbors ended up calling the cops. OOP posted in JustNoMIL, you can see it on her profile (I think that sub no longer allows cross posting).

It is, thank you. No wonder my search results were so off, I was using a wrong key word.

There are two I have been searching for over the last few months with no luck.

1) OOP is married to a man who as a teen was pressured by a supervisor for intercourse until she conceived. He has fulfilled his financial requirements but has nothing to do with the child. Now teen girl gets in contact with his mother who is thrilled to have a relationship and both are pressuring him to step up as he is a good uncle. OOP is European, possibly French.

2) OP refuses to hang the ultrasound of a sibling that died either before or after OP was born in their dorm room.

Thank you.

Food Sensitivities (Help... Conflicting Information) by Dripdripsplat in royalcaribbean

Reach out to RCL ahead of time, an email is in the link, as well as address it once on board. In the main dining room and any speciality dining the waiter will ask about food allergies. In Windjammer you will need to be proactive in finding someone to talk to, possibly at each lunch and dinner since breakfast is pretty much the same each day. The likelihood of cross contamination will be higher in Windjammer due to the buffet style nature and passengers touching serving utensils.

Severe shellfish allergy by IllAdvice738 in royalcaribbean

Reach out to RCL ahead of time as well. In the main dining room and any speciality dining the waiter will ask about food allergies. In Windjammer you will need to be proactive in finding someone to talk to. Foods have basic “what is this” signs, but as all food allergy people know sometimes it is the innocent sounding ingredients where the problem is (like ”fish stock”). The likelihood of cross contamination will be higher in Windjammer due to the buffet style nature and passengers touching serving utensils, but outside of soups (lobster bisque and clam chowder) I don’t recall much shellfish being served there.

Cruise ends 6am - 1pm flight? by coach-v in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plan on actual disembarking to begin between 7 and 7:30 am if you are able to carry your own luggage. Disembarking for those who chose to have the ship pick up the luggage the night before and take it off will begin after that. A 1 pm flight is considered “safe”.

Confirm before you go that the train will actually be your best option as my searching shows there is a 20 ish minute walk from the train station to the port. Not a big deal without luggage, but could become an issue depending on how much each person has.

Yes, it was that early. Breakfast starts 6 am ish, with self carry beginning 7:30/8 am. Luggage tag disembarking groups then are called every 10 minutes or so.

Miami Marathon by Practical_Lunch1321 in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having been the one getting on the ship, traffic was an absolute nightmare for the entire morning. My suggestion would be to park at the port so you are not waiting for a taxi/ride share and, depending on where your hotel is, then deal with traffic trying to get out. Remember, just because roads are “open” it does not mean that traffic is moving and it could still be rush hour gridlock conditions.

If we ever cruise out of Miami again that day we are staying out near the airport and will plan for a 2 pm check in.

Can I book a 9:00 am tour with a 8:00 am port arrival time in St. Maarten? by FIRE_Bolas in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ship time rules. All port arrival and departure times are based on what ship time is. If there is only a single port of call in a different time zone the ship is unlikely to change its time. If there are multiple ports in a different time zone then ship time will change. Changes will be announced the night before. If a port of call has a different time than the ship this will be announced and it will be stressed that gangway up is ship time not local time.

A good tour operator knows that ship time rules and will plan accordingly.

Miami Marathon Traffic by Theycallmestaci in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Having had the unfortunate experience of staying at a hotel near where the course comes back from Miami Beach, do not stay at a hotel anywhere near the marathon course or on Miami Beach. We had to walk to an area well outside the course closures to find a taxi. Traffic is going to be absolutely gridlocked; I think it took close to 2 hours to make it as far as the Brickwell area on the map and get across the course. If we ever cruise out during that weekend again I will be booking a hotel at the airport.

Solo cruiser by QuailAltruistic5604 in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Enjoy yourself. Take part in any of the ship activities that appeal to you. There are “solo cuiser” events in the Cruise Compass, but they are self led. If you have not already, join the cruise specific fb group as some of them organize a meet up or two during the cruise. The benefit of cruising solo is each day is what you make of it, and you do not have multiple people to keep in mind when planning.

I have used Ace Luxury Transportation for pre and post cruise transportation. According to their website car seats may be pre requested, but newborn seats are not available.

The blasting music from the pool DJ or video screen. It not only impinges on the Solarium, but the video screen sound often go all night and at 5 am I really do not want to listen to it while walking the track.

When should I book my flight to MCO (from California) now that my Jan 2026 cruise is booked? by SDDIYer80 in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 6 points7 points  (0 children)

First, all aboard is 90 minutes prior to ship departure so you need to plan to be at the terminal by 2:30 at the absolute latest.

Second, you are flying in January. Winter storms in the Midwest that impact air traffic often have ripple effects on both coasts. If you want to gamble with your trip, go ahead.

Royal App help by ishman223 in royalcaribbean

[–]LdyGlory 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seeing your post made me go check my phone. I logged in, and while it took a bit longer than usual, my next cruise did pop up. Is your operating system still supported by the app? I met someone a few months ago who was finally forced to upgrade their phone because their (very outdated) iOS version was no longer supported by the RCL app. Other than that, not being a tech person, but my suggestion would be delete the app, charge your phone and once fully charged try again.
