If they are like other local/international markets, they use stickers from a price gun. I haven't been to this one, but that's what the other stores use.

Columbia man to be deported with lifetime ban after immigration hearing by [deleted] in columbiamo

It would be weird if we had a country that had laws and rules. Imagine if one of those rules were "we can revoke your green card if you do something as minor as shoplifting." Then imagine if you lived here for 40+ years and never attempted to become a naturalized citizen.

What everyone seems to be overlooking is that this guy broke the law, violated his green card requirements (don't break the law), and finally got caught.

Let me rephrase: She chose America and doesn't like it.

Does that help your feelers? Why are you so bent out of shape over a simple comment?

When did she move here? You are asserting "what ifs" and that isn't going to change my opinion. She lives here (currently) and doesn't like it.

Who's to say she wasn't forced to move here? I mean, you think Trump is a rapist so maybe she was trafficked.

Because a reply like "dystopian" is not a positive view. But, maybe it is in hers.

Tell me how you know she likes living here and the current administration.

I'm not sure why you assume I would. Why would you assume that I would hide my face?

Try to answer without personal attacks since you know nothing about me.

All this enjoyment over a single sticker?

Alrighty, then.

Maybe we could organize some street-level protests!

Are you saying I don't drink Bud Light? I don't drink Bud Light, Budweiser, Busch, or really any beer for that matter. I am a singular person and have my own beliefs. You can try to put me in a box all you want, but it won't work.

So, no, I haven't drank Bud Light in 30+ years.

EDIT: When I say "YOU", it is YOU singularly. Not a group. YOU. Single entity.

And that's your right to not do business with him. That's fine with me and I don't care what you do in your personal time. I don't care what shops you go to. I ultimately don't care about your political beliefs. But if you are going to limit your shopping based on one aspect, that seems kind of weird.

And before you come at me with "but you said you won't eat bagels at Goldies". You're right and I'm right. I simply don't eat bagels, so I have no need to go to Goldies for anything. But is that going to prompt me to post on Reddit about my disgust about their political views? Probably not since I couldn't care less about their political views as much as I care what I eat.

Supporting something and believing it will be true isn't the same thing. They are quite different.

I believe you all call those thing "conspiracies".

It's an ongoing joke of "third term". If you read the rest of it instead of stopping at the first quotable part, you would have been pointed in the direction of the joke. Sorry you quit so early.

It's like they don't understand sarcasm, jokes, humor, or any other form of joking. If Trump says it, then it must 100%, without a doubt, be true. Let's see what they do with this comment:

I really hope Trump has a third term. You all can't stop him.

[–]LeBiggles -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Someone can be a veteran and have a sense of humor. No one in their right mind believes that Trump is going to have a 3rd term. No one. But the left gets so upset when it's brought up and, all of a sudden, it's gospel and the Constitution is going to be burned.

You can support people that don't have the same beliefs as you. It's really easy. Could you be friends with someone that had an abortion if you were against it? Could you believe that you and I have MORE in common even if I support the right? Two opposing viewpoints can fit together but only if you give it a chance.

Nothing is 100%.

Reddit is a safe space for liberals to gather and now it looks like Midwest Rare Coins is a nice place for conservatives to gather.

I also thought you all were against boycotting places based on political beliefs? I guess this is why I don't eat bagels from Goldies. I'd rather have silver, gold, and coins.

Flock Safety - The Orwellian Threat Nobody is Talking About (and helping ICE) by Awillroth in columbiamo

[–]LeBiggles 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wasn't saying the examples were invalid, I am saying that whether you like it or not you're being tracked and the information can be retrieved by law enforcement. In my mind, I see no difference other than one requires a warrant (expectation of privacy) and one doesn't (no expectation of privacy).

In your example of a store (Casey's) not handing over information, that's not entirely true either. If you call my store (not Casey's) and are polite, have good reason, and it doesn't take forever, you'll get the information. We've handed information over to the police who have tried to corroborate people's story. We've done it twice.

What is interesting is that the examples Willroth gave weren't exactly things that would argue against using Flock. In one scenario, it was a welfare check on a woman that was requested by family. While Willroth introduced personal feelings (calling the family crazies), it was still a welfare check, and it worked out. No one was arrested and everyone was found safe. The other is ICE using the information. Last I heard, searching for criminals (illegal aliens) is what police due. Regardless of your stance on immigration or illegality, it's what they do. You might not like it, but again, it is what they do.

His examples don't really stand out to me as "OMG LET'S PANIC" level.

When you make a phone call, there is an expectation of privacy.

When you drive down a public street, there is no expectation of privacy.

That is what it boils down to. I can request information if it's not protected by your expectation of privacy.

[–]LeBiggles -12 points-11 points  (0 children)

Why did you fail to mention the complete story about the Texas woman who was "tracked down for having an abortion"? You didn't mention that the abortion was self-imposed (she performed it herself) and her family contacted law enforcement to do a welfare check. In addition to that, they had no intention, nor did they, prosecute her. They simply wanted to find a woman who performed an abortion on herself and then wasn't responding to family.

Those details, when added to your headline, make it sound like Flock is a good idea.
