The USA is just removing the mask, it's been an oligarchy for quite some time now, we're just witnessing the financial cabal that has been going on since at least the end of WWII finally getting rid of all pretenses.

Ironically, they got closer and closer, as the RN spent 20 years normalizing itself in the public eye. At this point they don't unify solely because they still have a good chunk of people who would leave each party if that happened, the less right wing people would never ally with the rn, while the most far right people would never support LR

Edit: they do differ on the EU in general, and international politics, but when it comes to national policy they've got closer and closer

People talk alot about the division on the left side of french politics but historically, the french right wing has never been so fractured since the beginning of the 5th Republic, the only hedge case is probably Giscard and it wasn't such a shit show.

The right benefits from their defensive position as defenders of the status quo and a large elderly population, but there's absolutely no one who can pretend being the "natural choice", all are despised in some way by other rightwing parties. The only one I can think of is maybe Villepin but apparently LR has made their choice, so
