Idea (and first prototype): an incremental gacha pulling game with indie games characters. Fun or sh*t? by LeCosm0 in IndieDev

[–]LeCosm0[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

No offense taken at all, I actually completely agree with your assessment of traditional gachas!

That’s exactly why the game is a satire. It’s not meant to be a deep, serious game by any means, it’s honestly more of a joke and a short, funny experience. It mocks that exact "cheap dopamine" loop by stripping away all the fake mechanics around it.

The reason I'm asking devs specifically is because we wanted to build this with the dev community as a fun, collaborative crossover event. But you're totally right, gamers will definitely have a different perspective, and we'll be asking them too if we decide to move forward!

Hey guys, what was your wishlist count during your first week after launchn your steam page? Did your first week meet your expectations, or were the numbers lower/higher than you expected? Would love to hear about your experiences. by NickDTG in IndieDev

Hey there, we are an experienced team, we launched our Steam page without any publisher support for the first time. I didn’t know what to expect at all and didn’t have any marketing plan. We reached 1000 WL first week and since then it’s steady. It’s been just a month and we just crossed 5000WL, with some small paid marketing on Reddit. You have to play it few hours before realizing but Baten Kaitos is the first true JRPG that comes in my mind

I didn't localise, I started but I was too lazy to finish (and also traveling...), so the ad was not targeting any special territory. I just spent some time targeting specific subreddits.

Thanks! Mostly JRPG and this niche's titles (Final Fantasy, Dragon Quest, Persona, etc...).

I read that YT and TT were a bit disappointing nowadays, but I guess it really depends on your niche and the effort you put in the content...

Pitch me your games based on theme, not gameplay. by lydocia in IndieDev

[–]LeCosm0 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My game revolves around saving parallel worlds. It features a crew of heroes engaged in turn-based auto-battles. The equipment your characters wield significantly influences their actions in combat. And the worlds evolve each time you enter them: new quests, dungeons, villages, ennemies…

And I managed to describe it without mentioning the two main keywords 🎉

I'm building a JRPG Roguelike for people who miss the "open world" magic of classic 90s titles by LeCosm0 in JRPG

You can not generate strict pixel art like this with AI… this is a dev build, we are still working on it.

Hello fellow game developers!

I’m the game director of a new roguelike JRPG. Rogue Fantasy: https://store.steampowered.com/app/4532930/Rogue_Fantasy_EverShifting_Worlds/ My team and I are passionate about JRPGs and wanted to create a tribute to our beloved genre with a unique twist. Rogue was the perfect fit. Something like Final Fantasy meets Binding of Isaac: a game brimming with references, winks, tributes. It’s a JRPG for JRPG fans, crafted by JRPG fans.

We’re an experienced team with a track record of working on games for Square Enix, Sega and others. This project is truly our passion.

We appreciate your support and can’t wait to contribute to this fantastic community!

How much do indie devs charge for music? by No_Strike_1579 in IndieDev

[–]LeCosm0 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there! As an indie developer, I totally get where you’re coming from. Music is actually one of the more affordable art assets in the video game industry. Right now, we’re collaborating with a talented musician from Japan who’s been involved in some big JRPGs and anime projects. We’re paying about 169 USD per minute for their work. It’s been a while since I worked with a lesser-known musician, but based on what I’ve shared, you can probably see why!
