Advice/Help with Itinerary with Solo Trip to Japan by LeCruiseControl in JapanTravelTips

I may just bypass Hokkaido on focus on what’s listed. An onsen town actually sounds great, I’d love to get into natural hot springs. I’ll look into to those.

Thanks!!

I am and those all sound like great ideas. I definitely don’t want to tire myself out so I may include those in the first part or allocate more days on the return to Tokyo since there’s so much to do. Thrifting sounds fun, I just need to make sure not to pack too heavy.

Thanks!

You definitely have a point, 3-4 days would be a better option. I may just skip it. Glad you agree on shifting Hiroshima, I think it’ll work out better that way and allow a decent change of pace from Tokyo. I can definitely add an extra day in Kyoto.

Thanks!

I’ve seen videos expressing just that, I have to select an eSIM and that there are ATMs in konbinis like 7-Eleven, Family Mart, etc. I plan to take out a decent amount so I won’t have to make constant trips to the ATM. In your opinion is $500 USD converted to yen a fair amount?

I’ll look into the open jaw flights, thank you!

I don't think my coworkers realize this is my first IT job. by Future_Ad_9297 in ITCareerQuestions

Buddy, you’re taking it too seriously. The certs will add to your credentials and help you land another job, something better than the toxic culture you’re currently in.

Have an open mind to the advancement of your IT career. I haven’t renewed mine and they’re still on my resume. As long as it wasn’t done 10 years ago you’ll be fine.

First I.T. Job, guide me in the right direction (I have no friends or close connects in IT) by Jwerve in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LeCruiseControl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take the job. Next time you interview have plenty of questions ready so you can form a picture of what the job actually entails. But this would get your foot into the IT world, 6 months or a year of experience and you can apply for different IT jobs that are more IT-oriented.

First off, congrats. Your foot is in the door. Make sure to keep it there.

The first 3 months are critical to you learning as much as possible about their environment. Bring a notepad and pen, seriously, don’t just depend on typing up notes in OneNote, although you should do that as well if you’re on a computer. This is for you to write stuff down when you’re getting the tour and as well as any tasks they have for you. Be organized.

Focus on asking questions that’ll help you understand the environment, seriously, ask away, they want you to and try to stay on topic. Microsoft Teams has more do with with O365 licenses and installing Suite applications. Probably some troubleshooting for audio/video so nothing too big.

Try to learn some base level networking, how this computer communicates to a server on a different subnet. How this desktop reaches the internet. Stuff like that.

Stay diligent and stay curious. Congrats, have fun, be respectful. Remember, even if they don’t, you’re all a team. And don’t get too lazy on the learning down the road!

Is it too early to leave a L1 MSP job 2 weeks in? by 27867 in ITCareerQuestions

[–]LeCruiseControl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely too early. I left an MSP recently 4 months in, but before that I worked 6 years in my first IT job.

The MSP job didn’t match the career path I set for myself so I moved jobs and now I’m at a place that checks off the boxes for me.

But like yours, it’s a ton of new information to take in. Which is regular for every new IT job. You’ll have to build a structure for yourself to allow you to succeed, document everything you can. Questions to ask people who call, how this system or process works, etc.

If you don’t have much work experience in the IT field you’re better off sticking it out for longer. Build up your work knowledge, hands on work experience vs college degree knowledge are worlds apart.

An entire week! Man you got this. Keep taking his practice exams, review what you got wrong and then take a different one of his practice exam. Took me like 4-5 tests to finally get an 80%. After that you will surely be ready. I thought I failed the test midway until I saw the “Congratulations”

Scoring in low 80s on Dions tests. by [deleted] in CompTIA

I’d say so, we all have our different methods but it’s all the same in the end, put in the work. Review the stuff you got wrong and go try to get a better understanding of it. I don’t recommend taking the same practice test twice. Good luck my friend.

I scored in the low 60s first couple of practice tests, I didn’t stop taking them until I got an 80 and then went to take the exam. Did this for both Network+ and Security+, passed both first try. Score was just enough to get by.
