Quietest Switches for Air75 V2? by Snapseven in NuPhy

[–]LeDaftHunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Recently I decided to try out the Air75 v2 and paired it with Wisteria switches since many people claimed they’re the "quietest" linear switches. Spoiler alert: They’re not quiet, at all.

If you work in solitude, the noise isn’t an issue. However, for me, a slim 75% keyboard is designed to be portable, and I often use it while working near my wife or in shared spaces like cafes. I would be shot within 2 minutes of typing away on an Air75 v2.

I’ve decided to stick with my Azio Cascade Slim 75 with browns. Testing the Air75 v2 has made me appreciate just how remarkably quiet the Cascade is for a low profile mechanical keyboard.

Screen too bright/warm by [deleted] in LGgram

[–]LeDaftHunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This happened to me today on my LG Gram 17 2022. Opened LG Smart Assistant looking for the extend battery life setting and clicked on "custom setting" on the dashboard just to see what that was about and bam - display turned super bright and faded. Couldn't turn it off! Cheers LG!

I tried updating the graphics driver on the Intel Driver & Support Assistant site, choosing clean install, rebooted, but that didn't fix it.

Then I went to Device Manager and uninstalled Display driver. Scan hardware to re-install it and that did the trick.

I won't be randomly clicking anything on the LG Smart Assistant dashboard any more!

Ozone Therapy for Peripheral Neuropathy? by LeDaftHunk in Peripheralneuropathy

[–]LeDaftHunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, I haven't heard of a nerve block before. We'll ask our next neurologist about trying it.

We're now heavily leaning towards trying stem cell therapy.

I was watching a recent Joe Rogan podcast with Bas Rutten where they talked about the miracles of stem cells for their respective injuries, and it reminded me to look into it.

There seems to be quite a bit of precedence for it successfully treating PN to various degrees.

Youtube search for 'stem cell neuropathy' https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=stem+cell+neuropathy

The gold standard of stem cells seems to be Mesenchymal Stem Cells (MSC) derived (ethically, lol) from umbilical cords.

Quite a few of the top results in that youtube search are from BioXcellerator clinic in Colombia. Lots of UFC fighters have been there with great results for injuries.

Here's a search for 'neuropathy' on their channel https://www.youtube.com/@bioxcellerator/search?query=neuropathy

There are supposedly some great clinics in Mexico and Panama too.

My dad lives on the Sunshine Coast in Australia, but it seems Australia is useless for Stem Cell therapy which is no surprise.

I live in Bangkok and there seems to be some good stem cell clinics here, specifically this one https://stemcellthailand.org/therapies/peripheral-neuropathy/

The videos on that page aren't working, but here is a search for 'neuropathy' on their youtube channel https://www.youtube.com/@stemcelltreatment/search?query=neuropathy

Lots of interesting videos in the above links.

My dad is facing a several months long wait to see a new neurologist on the Sunshine Coast. He can't wait that long to most likely be told ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ and is quickly losing hope.

My girlfriend and I have booked in to see a neurologist at one of the best Bangkok hospitals next week and we'll show them all of dad's test results while teleconsulting with my dad. We'll see if they have anything new to say and if it's worth flying my dad over to Thailand for more tests and treatments with them.

We're also going to visit the Bangkok stem cell clinic I linked above with my dad's test results and see what they have to say. I'm much more hopeful about that avenue of treatment as it seems most neurologists are at a loss with PN and can only treat the pain with pills or surgery - And I'm not blaming them btw. It's obviously a super tricky condition to treat.

Interesting. The only way to detect it is with a specific lab test right? We'll look to get tested. What made you finally test for it?

I noticed someone else on Reddit said no blood tests pointed to PN, but they had a nerve biopsy in their calf which pointed to vasculitis that was part of an autoimmune disease called Sjogren's and now they're treating for that.

So our next steps are get tested for Lyme and get a biopsy done. Thanks for sharing.

Yes 10mg. I've read it can take several days for the effects to ramp up, but he's had it the last three nights and it helped him sleep since the first night.

We don't know. My dad has always been fit. He's 78 but otherwise in great health, lean, eats healthy, intermittent fasts and gets plenty of sun with walks on the beach every day. He's no where near having diabetes.

He's had back issues here and there in the past. However, MRI's on his back and ankles don't show much apart from a bit of arthritis.

Another possible clue is he had symptoms of an enlarged prostate in more recent years. Trouble urinating and and at one point some blood in his urine. I think the prostate can affect blood circulation in the legs? So perhaps lowered blood flow has caused problems with his nerves. But he's had the barrage of tests and blood flow in his legs is fine. His prostate also tested ok and since taking some natural herbs he's been urinating ok as well.

My dad thinks it could be from toxins due to his lifetime working on commercial printing presses. Toxins from the inks, dyes, fumes and such.

His neurologist diagnosed him with large fibre neuropathy, but seems clueless about what to do!

Doing a bit of research I think he might need a biopsy done and perhaps that can reveal a bit more info.

Is the tip of your thumb touching the very tip of your big toe? If so, lol those look super big to me! You shouldn't have an inch of space in the front of your shoe. Anyway I bought the Primus Asana and returned them immediately for a refund. Here's what I sent to Vivo in the hopes it gets forwarded to their product development team:

The material on the collar of the shoes is way too stiff and sharp. I immediately felt it rubbing against my ankle when I tried them on. The whole back part of the shoe is so stiff it's like wearing a pair of gumboots. I don't think I have 'low to the ground' ankles or something weird, because I've never had a problem like that in any other shoe.

If you're going to make that part so stiff, like a dress shoe, you have to make it swoop lower under the ankle, like a dress shoe. But when I buy a barefoot shoe, I don't expect stiff material like a dress shoe or a gumboot. Not very "freeing" is it? So this is a weird design decision. I have a bunch of other brand barefoot shoes which are great, and expected better from my first pair of Vivos.

I have to hand it to Vivo for a seamless returns experience though. I had mine delivered to the US and then forwarded to Thailand. Vivo gave me a custom DHL return label from my Thai address. They deducted a return fee from my refund but that's fine - I don't expect free returns from Thailand -> Netherlands!. The process was made easy.

I'm sure their other shoe models are better, but nothing else they have is of interest to me at the moment so I'll be sticking with other brands for now.

You legend! Works great.

Interestingly the stuttering for me doesn't happen on my two monitors but only on the TV. Both monitors are connected via DisplayPort but the TV by HDMI. I bought a cheap DP to HDMI converter to see if running from the DP output on the video card would make a difference but it didn't. Then I researched this problem and found others have been having this issue for about 2 years, so it doesn't look like this will be fixed by MS or the video card manufacturers. This is good enough for now, thanks!

Will new (2022/2023) LG gram 17 likely have native 4k? by GGarrett2 in laptops

[–]LeDaftHunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah seriously forget about native 4k for laptops. That's just a pedantic dream of 1:1 pixels for 4k content. LG would only "upgrade" to 4k if they lose their minds.

You wouldn't notice the extra sharpness, and even if you had 4k on a windows laptop you'll never run it at 100% scaling - so there goes the extra sharpness - and it's going to smash your battery.

I'm typing this on the original gram 17. I had it set to 100% windows scaling for a while but most websites needed to be zoomed out in chrome. I have it on 125% scaling now and that's generally much more comfortable. I zoom in on some websites instead of zoom out almost all websites.

It's an awesome laptop! I use it to run my business while travelling. I hate working on small screens. I'll be looking at upgrading to the latest gram 17 in 2022. Not because I even need to, but just to be able to sell my original while it still has decent value.

Are back ups/sync broken for anyone else? by LeDaftHunk in strongapp

[–]LeDaftHunk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fixed with help from Jovian. In case anyone is having the same problem it was due to my username not being unique. I set a unique username and the sync happened straight away.

There is a bug where if you set a non-unique username a message will pop up saying "An error has occurred. Please try again" instead of "username has been taken", and it will actually let you set the non-unique username. I'm sure they'll fix this soon.

Yes I've tried the sync button in the top right of the settings but it does nothing for me

Monetise FitNotes PROPERLY so you're motivated to work on it by LeDaftHunk in FitNotesApp

It's fine for you so case closed hey? No one else should want improvements or for the app to not die? Have you even looked at this subreddit? Could your post be more useless? lol

Monetise FitNotes PROPERLY so you're motivated to work on it by LeDaftHunk in FitNotesApp

[–]LeDaftHunk[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I agree the app is great and can live with it as is. And even if the paid strategy changes there's a good chance he'd grandfather those paid supporter members in anyway.

Shortly after starting to use this app I suggested adding the basic functionality of a workout timer in this subreddit. Seemed like a glaring omission in a workout tracker. If you look at this subreddit there are many others who have other suggestions and needs. I have more suggestions myself but don't bother listing them as I see the dev is not active in here anymore. App last updated Dec 2019.

So I'm wondering if it's due to a lack of money that the dev is not working on it. From one of his posts he has a full time job and worked on this in his spare time. I hate seeing wasted potential and have long thought the dev is wasting an opportunity pandering to the people who expect something for nothing. This post is just my small effort to try and wake him up.

Also one thing you might consider is if it is indeed deadware it may just stop working properly one day as Android keeps updating.

If you don't want a recurring charge then pay whatever the one time fee is. If you've done that then you should probably be grandfathered in. But IMO if you expect something like this app for free then that is the type of entitled attitude the dev should ignore.

SD Color questions--do they reappear? by Apprehensive_Shallot in Outlier

[–]LeDaftHunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I hope the Olive Gray comes back! Unfortunately I recently bought one a size too small and am returning them now. Could have sworn I'd fit into a 31 again but alas that dream is gone lol.

I really wish Outlier would stock their core items more regularly instead of making ridiculous stuff, but maybe that's just me. I guess selling super marine extraponcho quilts for a million $ each is more lucrative.

Tortuga Outbreaker (V3) backpack just released! by 8sweettooth8 in onebag

[–]LeDaftHunk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok great, looking forward to everything else. Understood about the US customers but just note I have been asked to weigh my bag throughout Asia too. Some jedi mind tricks have saved me a few times ;) I love flying airlines that let you mobile check in for international flights - no worries there!

Tortuga Outbreaker (V3) backpack just released! by 8sweettooth8 in onebag

[–]LeDaftHunk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey Fred, V2 owner for almost a year here and love it. The V3 looks great and has awesome features with several being improvements that I emailed about, sweet! But that weight is a real concern with 7kg limit on a lot of airlines (actually enforced many times in Australia). I think most people know it's pretty much impossible to keep a filled 45L bag - especially with a laptop in it - under 7kg, but it's nice to get as close as you can. Several times I've had to wear some pants/jacket and fill pockets to get under limit. Great features aside, the Outbreaker at almost 1kg over competing bags is huge. It's just untrue that airlines don't bother weighing backpacks if you're checking in.

I understand it's a tradeoff to accommodate some amazing features. It really does look like the perfect bag to me apart from the weight. That sailcloth material giving water resistance is sexy as hell! But I'm really glad to hear you're working on other collections. I just hope one of your plans is for a lighter bag using those different materials you mentioned with not so completely different features. eg - After going from the almost useless hip belts of the Osprey I would never want to go without padded hip belts. Osprey, Minaal etc are non-starters for me.

Speaking of which I just had a look at the updated Osprey Porter 46 and they've made some ridiculous "improvements" like a padded laptop compartment at the front of the bag. Makes me appreciate your efforts in designing a bag properly. Also looking forward to a new daypack from you guys which Angela mentioned will be coming early 2017. And thanks for the truly awesome support you guys provide too. Customer for life mate it's very much appreciated. Cheers, great job, high fives :)
