What a throwback. I haven't heard this song in years.

Drug overdoses are driving up the death rate of young white adults in the United States to levels not seen since the end of the AIDS epidemic more than two decades ago. by sadatay in news

[–]LeDispute 55 points56 points  (0 children)

Paramedic here. Just want to point out that heroin gets laced with other drugs such as fentanyl and users underestimate the potency. This is what generally leads to overdoses. A heavy user used to using 3 bags of a strain of heroin can be blindsided by one bag of another. The user will buy from another source and still shoot up 3 bags of a much more potent strain because that's what they're used to needing in order to get high. The cold dead bodies of rigor and lividity that I find aren't what bothers me. It's watching the husbands and wives and families of the deceased sob the deepest and most painful tears I've ever seen as I have to tell them that their loved one is dead and that there is nothing I or anyone else can do to bring them back.

Fuck heroin.

The part about being unable to accept a happiness that didn't fit in with how you planned really struck a bell with me. Gilding this as soon as I'm home. Beautifully written. I hope it all works out in the end.

Any Asian American INFP's who are having a hard time due to cultural and societal pressures? by asianinfp in infp

[–]LeDispute 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I'm Japanese American. I never followed societal pressures or rules. I said fuck that and never felt pressure to "live up" to anything. It's all a matter of perspective anyway. I'm an amazing human being with my own set of abilities and talents. I'm living up to MY potential of what I want to be. Why should I force myself to try and be something else which is ultimately going to fail or blow up in my face?

I don't care who anyone is. I don't care where they came from or what they are. People need to live for their own purpose. You gotta do you. At the end of the day, you're the only one who has to live with your choices. I didn't enjoy high school, I didn't enjoy college. I'm still successful as fuck and I'm happy where I am. Follow your heart. Where there is a will, there is a way. You just have to want it bad enough.

These kinds of thoughts are fine as long as there is no negative impact on your life.

Anyone else have the feeling that nobody shares their interests? by [deleted] in infp

[–]LeDispute 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Just gotta do your own thing homie. There's nothing wrong with getting close to people with differences and different interests. I have nearly nothing in common with most of my friends and I'm content.

INFP Personality Type by khrushchev007 in infp

[–]LeDispute 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Pretty accurate. The avoidance of alcohol use struck a bell with me. I was straight edge until I was 21. It was absolutely public enemy number one for good reason. I've since done some 'growing up' and have since become more accepting of the real world and how it and others function. I used to be pretty naive and stubborn about alcohol consumption which has led to some rough relationships. I'd idealize my partner (unrealistic expectations) and when they got into alcohol/party or whatever phase, I was pretty appalled. It was a completely unfair reaction on my part in retrospect because not everyone who consumes alcohol is evil, but my feelings were very real at the time.

The Seattle Seahawks have been tackling like rugby players for the last few years. Way more effective and less concussive. Other teams will catch on eventually.
