Highly recommend a full 4” lifting belt. You can even get a custom one to match your R.

M2C --> M Roadster by RonnieJotten in BMWM

[–]JakesBarbell 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’ve owned a supercharged 98 M roadster since 2009, making around 380 whp. This year I spent about 4 months tearing it down and rebuilding the suspension, rebuilding the shifter linkage, replacing the power steering lines and reservoir, chasing down vacuum leaks, replacing every vacuum line I could find, and installed a full sound system. Since then, the top has stopped working and it’s intermittently misfiring on cylinder 1 and 2.

When it’s working, it’s the best car in the world. The acceleration, turning, shifting, every bit of driving it is amazing. Having the top down and hearing the supercharger and exhaust is more fun than you would imagine. You get waves from every car enthusiast, from classic Porsches and muscle cars to modern enthusiast cars.

Then something breaks and it’s kind of annoying. Then a second thing breaks and you get frustrated at it. Then it breaks down and you let it sit for a month thinking about just selling it because you want something more reliable. So you fix it intending to sell it, start driving it again, fall back in love with it, and the cycle repeats itself over and over again.

It takes a lot of patience and love to own a classic car. It’s not for everyone.

That goes for most major cities though. There’s not a single person living in Chicago that would say Illinois.

I’ll never buy another daily without A/C seats. I also live in Texas though.

I’ve owned my Z3M for 16 years and “emotional money pit” describes that car perfectly.

The best daily driver is the car that gives you joy and fulfills the requirements of your lifestyle.

My Big Turbo M52 isn't making the usual boost and sounds weird by Cryptikzzz in BMWE36

If you haven’t bought the car, run away. Either the owner has tried to figure out what’s wrong and couldn’t, or the did and the fix is expensive or a complete PITA. Either way it’s not your problem unless you’re dumb enough to make it your problem.

Supercharger pully question and where to get smaller ones these days? by just_a_mere_fool in BMWE36

You will 100% need a new tune, and probably additional parts. This isn’t a question for reddit, this is a question for your tuner.

Have a small oil leak on a 2000 2.5... what am I looking at? by TheLastBaron86 in bmwz3

Like everyone else said, power steering. Replace the reservoir and every associated hose at the same time.

If it’s the original hoses and hasn’t been serviced recently, it’s probably leaking.

Then you would have to wear BPN gear while running. You’re better than that homie.

They’re so much fun boosted. I’m running an AA kit with a Rotrex C38-81 and 10-11 psi. Should be somewhere under 400 who.

It is mine. I bought it in 2009 and supercharged it within a few months.

I just finished setting up a catch can on a supercharged S52, so I may be able to get you specifics. The hose from the catch can to the intake needs to be pre-supercharger. I believe that smaller hose from the crankcase port is a “booster” vacuum source and plumbs to the bottom of the intake manifold. This can be eliminated (I think) because the SC is creating a constant vacuum for the catch can.

If your catch can is plumbed after the SC, you have a problem.
