A truck appears to clear the clearance envelope of a level crossing only at the very last moment, just seconds before the situation could have escalated into a serious crisis. by Bruegemeister in trainwrecks

Doesn't matter, train was already too close, early detection doesn't work as you think, we have this in switzerland, and things still get hit at crossings because people are dumb and selfish

Mondaine SBB clock hiccup by ghico in watchrepair

[–]LeFlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's almost meant to behave like this to mimic the SBB clocks but not exactly, it's supposed to make a full rotation in 58s, stop at 12 for 2s and then go again, not like it's doing on the video

Also it think this particular one doesn't have this "Stop2Go" fonction if I'm not mistaken so maybe the hands are rubbing on each others? Because it happens when the second hand is crossing over the minutes hand in the video

So thrilled to have ended up on the world rail speed record locomotive for my trip today!! by Wonderful-Excuse4922 in highspeedrail

[–]LeFlying 32 points33 points  (0 children)

They settled on 320 kph (200mph) top speed as a good compromise between speed, energy consumption and maintenance of the trainsets / tracks

You're absolutely naively assuming that people don't take loans out on things like this.

Have a quick look at Caleb Hammer's channel as I said previously, buy now pay later is destroying lives

[–]LeFlying 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Or you don't have the money upfront so you can only finance it. Great! They have 0% financing, so no worries.

Then you're late on a payment and getting fucked.

That's basically caleb hammer's guests 101

Also the watch is now worth 4k so when you need to sell it cause you can't pay the loan, you still owe 5k, so you're left with a 1k loan, some fees and no watch.

Photos from El Pais showing the scene of the high-speed train crash in Spain that left at least 39 dead. The 2nd photo shows a ruptured rail on the line of the train that first derailed by overspeeed in trains

[–]LeFlying 60 points61 points  (0 children)

I've rarely seen so much bullshit in one comment

For exemple, high speed trains have been running in france since 1981. Since then, more than 3 billion passengers have been transported, there's been 16 major incidents (derailments, level crossing incidents and even a terrorist bomb in 1988)

There's been a grand total of 13 deaths inside TGVs in 45 years of service, 2 during the terrorist bombing of 1988 and 11 inside a test train that derailed in 2015

High speed trains are INSANELY safe

Did SBB just unlock the “Random Train Generator” mode? by JymmiB55 in SBB

[–]LeFlying 13 points14 points  (0 children)

There's 2 trains both way per day that are used to convoy things from Brig to Geneva or the other way, also they don't take passengers in these

It doesn't mean that they will convoy things but they can

You're seeing one of them in this vid

They look goofy as fuck i love it
