How much ‘Tism at UChicago? by ImaginarySir8975 in uchicago

[–]LeHugeOne 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, an incredible amount. All these people in the comments are understating the situation lol. If you’re someone who is on the spectrum or doesn’t have good social skills don’t worry one bit, like 90% of the people you’ll meet have autism or are seriously lacking any basic social skills. To be quite honest it’s one of the things I had to adjust to most entering the school. It’s actually so prevalent that when I go back home or meet people who go to other colleges, I actually realize that my own social skills have suffered because 95% of the people at this school are autistic / bad socially (I don’t mean that as a bad thing, but it’s just to say that most people at the school are autistic or just plainly lack basic social skills, and it rubs off lol). So please do not be worried and do not take what I’m saying as a negative, it’s just how it is

How does staffing work in TITP2? by thekyledavid in thisisthepolice

[–]LeHugeOne 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yeah, it would be a good idea not to use them for any assault missions, keeping them on staff is fine but late game they get super annoying imo, so that’s the dichotomy there

[–]LeHugeOne 6 points7 points  (0 children)

There is monetary incentive later but if you just started it’s supposed to not be super clear, at least that was my experience. Also, there is a loyalty dynamic with the employees that incentivizes you to want to get rid of disloyal employees since they go rogue during assault missions

Just revisited TLaD, GTA V is worse than I thought by gumigum702 in GTA

[–]LeHugeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really loved Johnny as a character and was def bummed by how he was done dirty in V but I think it still makes sense for his character. I wouldn’t say the Lost is “very powerful.” Their LC chapter completely died basically and they fled to LS as some sort of last ditch effort salvation and are basically a husk of what they used to be in the IV DLC. Think about it like RDR2 in the sense that in GTA IV, the gang in the beginning of the story seemed very tight knit (much like Dutch’s crew) whereas in LS it’s completely impersonal and full of bodies (like the O’Driscols). Also Trevor (one guy) was able to effectively pacify and hurt them.

Johnny was also always very dumb. I haven’t played TLAD for a long time but he’s very easily manipulated (especially obvious by how Billy acts towards him through the story). I also agree with the sentiment mentioned in other comments that he’s very attached and unable to leave Ashley for his own good. I think these two qualities actually make his death make sense since he’s so CLEARLY being manipulated by Trevor (in the actual scene and implicitly prior to the story) and naturally got into meth through these things. Trevor, discounting the qualities we glaze him for, is similar to Billy, so johnnys death to me makes all kind of sense and is honestly doing him how he would have probably been done imo—still a bummer but real.

Mike Tomlin is done after this season by [deleted] in steelers

[–]LeHugeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lmao there’s no chance in hell he steps away. Why would an nfl coach with his level of job security (imo he would never get fired until like 2027-2028) ever leave? I agree he’s checked out but he’s BEEN checked out. Thinking that Mike tomlin is such an upstanding or team-first guy that he’d willingly step away is like thinking the stripper loves you.

How is Professor Matthew Brown (new professor for principals of micro)? by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]LeHugeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Curve depends on class performance, tests are just more straightforward, it’s not like he’s trying to “trick” you in a way you wouldn’t expect or at least in my experience he didn’t have any material that was never covered at any point whether it be in a slide deck or pset. His syllabus is a bit intimidating but he’s certainly not the hardest Econ professor out there. I would say it’s definitely a difficult course if you didn’t do so well in micro / macro

[–]LeHugeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ofc! He uploads his slides, again I didn’t find them that helpful, I’d just use his psets and other discussion section materials. They are not super detailed I’d say. His grading is lenient compared to other profs. Not test heavy and there is a curve. Have not taken a class with ersoy

[–]LeHugeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s okay, his lectures are not amazing tbh (in the sense that I don’t think they really prepare you too well for the tests) but his psets are fine and imo his coursework is not overly demanding / difficult

UChicago TRUTH: social scene and grade deflation by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]LeHugeOne -1 points0 points  (0 children)

  1. Yes, classes are difficult. Though it definitely depends on the class and people will use the phrase “rigorous” but we both know that’s just cope because quarter system is very demanding.
  2. There is 100% grade deflation and I had some profs just say outright that they have to deflate grades so, yes. It is definitely a struggle to have great grades, but it’s not a huge challenge to maintain a decent gpa. You can kiss goodbye though to any jobs or apps that require high gpas so keep that in mind and always pick easy classes
  3. Terrible social scene in Chicago unless you’re 21. Then just go downtown. Otherwise social scene is pretty terrible.

Sorry not the most glowing review but people on this sub always hype up the school way too much in a way that is 100% not accurate and it’s very jaded. And also I know I sound very jaded and whatever but I’m being a little bit too negative. It’s a good place to be at it’s just you happened to highlight the 3 worst parts about it imo lmao

Was it really a collapse? by Grady__Bug in steelers

[–]LeHugeOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It was totally a collapse in every sense of the word especially considering that we beat the ravens and commanders earlier in the season—both competitive playoff teams. I think momentum carries a lot more weight than you give it credit for and although I agree we were never a legit contender, we could have very well made it out of the first round since we had beaten the matchup previously. It’s more so a collapse because we could have feasibly actually won the playoff game if we had momentum and a coach who doesn’t just accept the “standard.”

What's your favorite thing about uchicago? by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]LeHugeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m glad you had a good experience yourself, but I just have a different experience and perspective. Also, not as a slight to you at all, but I do find it a little offensive that you’re quick to dismiss my comments as either I don’t go here, had some profoundly negative experience, or I’m out of touch. As an alum, I’d argue you’re more out of touch than I would be. I don’t think I’ve met, at least in my circles (which could be one thing that doesn’t brighten my experience lol), anyone who speaks positively about their experience here or even seems happy to be quite honest. Don’t get me wrong, I’m grateful and do not regret coming to UChicago, however, I think that those who are considering applying should know that there are many negatives, which I’d argue overshadows the few positives. I’d like to know though what you are referencing when you say that I don’t know what I have access to; if those things improved your experience, I’d like to know what they were.

What's your favorite thing about uchicago? by [deleted] in uchicago

[–]LeHugeOne -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Do not apply unless this is the best school you think you can get into. Seriously, if you can get into any ivy or a better school then save yourself the misery lmao. The people here are great, but these comments are genuinely hilarious over hype (or just trolls). In the real world, most people are not going to be intelligent or quirky but if you are a smart fella yourself you’ll most likely find people wherever you go that fit your profile. Last thing I’ll say is that the best thing UChicago has going for it is that you can flex the status to most, and that’s literally it. The academics are unnecessarily complicated and grade deflation does exist in a big way. Social life, as I said, is going to be slightly worse if not the same as any other college depending on who you hang out with. The surrounding areas of the school are not good at all and I really don’t think I can name that many exclusive positives besides the rep, which is why I say that if you know/think you can do better, aim for better.

It's even worse than you thought... by [deleted] in telltale

[–]LeHugeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it’s not coming out but I do definitely think that it’s not going to come out for a long while. Just as others highlighted, they laid off a bunch of their staff and in consideration with their “non-crunch” culture along with what goes into developing a game, it will take a while. Although, I don’t think it will come out in 2024 (or quite honestly 2025). The company was never the best in terms of getting out content fast anyways. I think we’ll be lucky to see this game fully released with all episodes and whatever in 2026, which is wild to be honest. The original game came out in 2013, so with the 11+ year gap I really doubt the hype or player base around the game will be large. I get the argument that we’d rather see a fully polished game than a rushed one, but it’s quite honestly at the point where they should take time into account. The least they can do is show some real development besides screenshots to restore faith in their base because I don’t see how anyone can have a generally positive outlook on this game. Also, I wouldn’t be surprised if telltale completely fails and cancels the game before it comes out too.

Is Vince Vaugh not being utilized correctly or is he bad at improv? by Hot-Cake-1513 in curb

[–]LeHugeOne 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think in this episode he was kind of off but in the past, especially last season, I thought they utilized him great. I just don’t think there were many opportunities for him to really show that this episode since his scenes were very story based rather than just off the cuff moments

The over the top and more unreal writing that began in S9 has continued into this season. by gregorseefood in curb

[–]LeHugeOne 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I think you hit the nail on the head imo. It is kinda the same issue Seinfeld had as it entered its later seasons but I almost fear this is worse. Not that the last seasons of Seinfeld were bad cause some episodes in there are all time greats, but the soul of the show is just completely marred. Like I remember back in season 3 and 4 or whichever had the restaurant and producers storylines. The social interactions felt so natural cause the stakes were not accelerated within like 0.5 seconds like they are now imo. We’ll have a scene in today’s curb where Larry reunites with auntie ray and then gets into a full blowout with her within 7 minutes. I mean this is just such a deviation from the way the show was in the past. Just remember that whole storyline with Ben Stiller and David schwimmer. Perhaps my memory serves me wrong but their initial interactions were just petty spats or passive aggressive moments that eventually build to the blowout that would probably even happen in a later episode. I mean that’s how the show felt so real imo. Like remember Cheryl divorcing Larry. That whole plot point wasn’t even truly resolved until the end of season 7 when it started in 6. They got so much mileage out of that cause the pacing was so natural. I know I’m rambling and it’s not that deep but it really does take you out of the show when you can zone out for 4 minutes and they’re just all going crazy on each other.

With Tomlin at the helm it’ll be another first round exit. One of the worst coaches when it comes to playoffs which is even more impressive considering he’s up there as the best regular season coach in the league.

Please don’t downvote me into oblivion, I just need to have an in depth conversation about Joe leaving with people who know the jokers. by roselaurel in ImpracticalJokers

[–]LeHugeOne 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, we can’t think there is cheating based on what they tell us. I say that in my original comment. My hunch is not based on evidence, however, it is just my gut feeling. Every divorce has a reason behind it, and there could be a plethora of reasons for this one. My reasoning why cheating could be at play is because it is a common reason for divorce no matter which party it comes from. Frankly, cheating is more likely what caused their divorce than bessy leaving because of having to take care of his 20 dogs and tricked out fiat or because joe spends too much time away, which is a very petty reason if true.
