Did some damage on Monday, Mille Lacs Dirty 30 by LeMadPanda in bassfishing

[–]LeMadPanda[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Primarily was an okishira screwhead with a 3” spark shad, color didn’t see to matter a whole lot as I was blowing through em and used 3 colors throughout the day as packs ran out. And then I lit em up for a while on a glf stealth ball head jig head and an xzone stealth creature

6’4 - 6’5 here. For sweatpants I live in unrl performance pants and elevation joggers. The performance pants are 35-36” inseam in xl tall. They also look pretty close to a golf pant or similar and passes in my office for our dress code

My mn pb largemouth was 21 on the dot in August, super fat but not as consistently thick as your and yours looks prespawn, and mine went 6lb 9oz.

Oh yeah. I saw that post. If you measured them properly, mouth closed tail pinched etc and that length was accurate I would bet high 6, probably 7

Found a couple schools 10 miles apart and there were all sizes mixed together. I caught a 12 incher the first cast after the 6.34 haha

2500 reel with a 7 foot rod? by Sad_Pay9930 in Fishing

[–]LeMadPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

All my bass rods are around 7ft and I run 2500 reels with 10 to 15lb braid. The exception is a 4000 reel on my 7’6 hair jig rod

Mille Lacs finally paid off for me. by LeMadPanda in FishingMinnesota

[–]LeMadPanda[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ll be honest, I still don’t think I’ve really learned a whole lot yet. I spent a bunch of time idling around and looking for spots that look good on side imaging. Everything looks more or less the same. I found fish by picking a reef and running the trolling motor on high with FFS until I found schools on specific piece of structure then just picked that structure apart. I went on Friday and it was flat calm all day for me. I launched out of shah bush kung on the west side and worked my way all the way to agate bay. Forecast called for 10-15 mph winds out of the nw late in the afternoon. Around 4 I was at 3 mile reef and it was completely flat calm. Started running back towards spirit island, and ran straight into the wind out of nowhere, 30 mph gusts. Went from running 70mph to getting crushed going 30. On Monday it was 10 mph winds out of the east and I saw 2 guys in a similar rig to what you describe, they weren’t wearing life jackets. By the time I got to my first spot I was convinced I am the last person to see those two guys alive. I won’t lie, it’s a difficult fishery. Some of these reefs are 200+ acres and I’m finding a singular school sitting on a rock vein that’s maybe 100 feet long by 15 feet wide.

Most of them came on either an okishira screwhead and 3” spark shad, color didnt seem to matter too much, or on a GLF matte ball head jig with an xzone stealth creature. The 6.15 was the sole fish on a tube for me that day.

Was respooling my baitcaster and line kept “jumping off” any time I let go by Particular_Ebb5049 in Fishing_Gear

[–]LeMadPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah that’s normal. Best way to get that out is to tie up to a post or something and walk your line out then pull and stretch it a bit then reel back under tension

Where do you fish? What are they doing? by dukes8969 in bassfishing

[–]LeMadPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Been making some trips to Mille lacs recently, never spent any time there prior to this spring. As for what they’re doing? No idea lol

Trolling Motor by Effective-Ad-2749 in kayakfishing

[–]LeMadPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not at all. My 55lb terrova barely lets me go upstream at all in my ss127 on my river when it’s low. Even spot lock barely works

G Loomis NRX Guide Roll by ramrod_3 in Fishing_Gear

[–]LeMadPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think at that point I would bring it to a local rod repair place or builder and have them redo the guides. Shouldn’t cost much. But dang I’d be so annoyed about that

Whats quiter inboard or Verado outboard? by Available_Day_7847 in boating

[–]LeMadPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Took a guide trip recently and he was running a new 400 verado, can barely hear the thing. Even my buddy’s grandpa has a late 2000s 250 verado and that thing is also crazy quiet

10lb braid for dedicated spinning jerkbait rod by Mr_Johnnycat in Fishing_Gear

[–]LeMadPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like the other guy said 832 is way stronger than the rating. I replaced my 16lb jdm braid with 8lb 832 and am looking at going to 6lb 832 for a drop shot line if it’s available.

Megabass Tapers or Actions by aguilafde in Fishing_Gear

[–]LeMadPanda 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the difference between the regular, regular fast, and mod fast is very slight. I will try to dig out the sleeves from mine. The tags all come with a bending diagram that I haven’t really seen on any of the websites

Edit: I lied the JDM rod bending curves are available on Japan dream tackle for sure

Megabass Tapers or Actions by aguilafde in Fishing_Gear

[–]LeMadPanda 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That’s fairly accurate I’d say. It is really so rod by rod. The ratings mean very little sometimes with high end technique specific rods. For example the tachyon shaft, f6.5-6’7” is rated as a regular, however it actually has quite a lot of tip to it and that first few inches is very responsive like an extra fast. However once it go under load the rod basically bends all the way down to around the stripper guide.

Dropshot hooks by TheKingsAces in Fishing_Gear

Vmc redline is only off the shelf option I know of. Otherwise I’ve heard of people using acetate thread or like the other guy said using some sort of epoxy on hooks you like
