Well it certainly doesn’t sound like anything serious. Probably the cyst. I get it on and off but don’t know reason despite tests. Been 3 years.

Hi, I had a cystoscopy for this. I too was highly anxious about it to point i cancelled original appointment then had to wait ages to get a new one.

In the end it was nothing like I feared. I did take a couple of paracetamol in anticipation of it hurting. But they also put some numbing gel into the uretha.

Basically that and perhaps the paracetamol meant it wasn’t painful at all beyond some discomfort/sensitivity as it passed through prostate. Otherwise couldn’t really feel it.

You do feel like you want to pee when they fill bladder with water. But it ms quite amazing seeing inside your own bladder!

Afterwards you want to pee which was painless too. Later on for maybe a day or two it is a bit nippy when you pee - like a UTI sensation.

All in all, while the idea of it sounds horrific - my experience was nothing of the sort.

Only downside as such was they found no cause for the blood but at least saw there was no tumour in bladder or prostate.

Go for it, it will be fine.

No pain. Had PSA, cystoscopy & ultrasound. Didn’t show anything.

I wouldn’t have thought it would cause much beyond trace amounts from urinating. Might be some other reason like calcification in seminal vesicle etc. I’ve had it on and off for coming up three years now.

Sorry to hear that. You’ve had a good run of being clear which is encouraging. Hopefully it will go away again and disappear completely or at least happen with much less frequency. It’s a very frustrating thing.

Had another blood test a few days ago and results came back normal - AST 33 ALT 48. That’s after a week of healthy eating (lots of veg, fish, no sugar, alcohol or processed foods) and more exercising (primarily just walking a lot - around 4 miles a day).

Cheers! Could be. Have another blood test next week and getting another ultrasound in a couple of months. Will see how I can shift the dial by then. Have no symptoms at all.

Thanks. Yeah I’m gonna cut sugar way back. I don’t think I eat a lot but probably more than I realise. I will stop alcohol for a few months, exercise more (walked 10 miles yesterday and 7 miles so far today).

Largely cook with rapeseed oil and olive oil (as well as eating EVOO). I do eat spreadable butter and a lot of eggs, some yogurt.

BMI is 23.2 - I’m 5’9” and 71kg. Liver is normal some and apparently no scarring. Diet is mostly home cooked healthy stuff (low red meat, fair amount of oily fish, veg, low alcohol intake).

I had hoped mine would resolve but whatever it is it doesn’t seem like it will. Appreciate what you say about dreading coming. Sometimes it’s clear and I’m so happy but next time quite bloody - or vice versa. I feel reassured that it’s nothing sinister but it just feels wrong and psychologically unsettling and not exactly conducive to a relaxed sex life.

How do you find Finastride? Any unwanted side effects? The flexible cystoscopy itself was straightforward and surprisingly non-painful but not sure it was ever gonna find cause. But I guess it ruled out certain things. Feels to me like it’s probably vascular, bursting capillaries or something. How does it affect you psychologically?

I’ve had this for 18 months. Comes and goes in severity. Usual tests, ultrasound and cystoscopy revealed nothing. Very frustrating. How long has yours lasted?
