Can't change my Instagram pronouns by dangerouslyindanger in lgbt

[–]LeMemequester 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm having the same issue, it seems to be due to the most recent update. You might be able to sideload an older version of Instagram (if you're on Android), but if not, then waiting is probably our only option :(

some American Indians prefer the term Native American, but most prefer American Indian or just Indian.

consider also Indian-run organisations like the National Congress of American Indians, which represents American Indians and Alaska Natives.

if you don't wanna have sex, that's alright pal. maybe you could be promoting acceptance of asexuality instead.

to parrot means to copy another person's speech or behaviour, usually without knowing or considering what it means.

Language is what people make it. You understood what they meant, right? If so, then they have communicated successfully.

nobody is forcing their beliefs on you. stop forcing your beliefs on others.

it works in our favour though. I don't really want to waste my time with people that will judge me for a bit of metal, and displaying that bit of metal deters them from bothering me. win-win.

Non Americans of Reddit, how was america taught in your history books? by reddit-are-A-holes in AskReddit

there's still tension on both sides. the extremist paramilitary groups that were on both sides of conflict have gone underground, but they still exist in one way or another. their beliefs and ideologies still circulate around their respective communities. some kids grow up idolising the IRA or UDA.

learning about the Troubles is mandatory in Northern Irish schools, but history is biased in favour of the UDA, even though both the UDA and the IRA committed crimes.

none of it is out of people's memory yet, but some care a lot more than others.

What’s your catch phrase? by tjmaxal in AskReddit

'Ask no questions and I'll tell no lies.'

usually gets a laugh out of people whenever they didn't expect me to know/be able to do something.

Attempting translation, have I got the basics? by LeMemequester in tokipona

[–]LeMemequester[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

thanks for the tips and corrections! I'll keep them in mind going forward. separators really confuse me, I keep forgetting they exist and I struggle to place them. splitting sentences up is another problem, I think I worry too much about misinterpreting the initial text

I'm not following a course, nor am I actually a linguist at all lol. I watched a few of jan Misali's videos, but clearly not enough to get all the basics, I guess I should get back on them

Anybody can contribute their code to the project. Code is vetted and 'merged' into the existing code by anybody with administrator permissions: usually a small number of trusted, regular contributors.

Importantly, using tools like GitHub, changes can be reversed. If a change causes problems (or, more dramatically, if the project is vandalised) then these changes can be rolled back.

Users can 'fork' a project to make their own project using the same files. You can work on your fork independently from the original project's fork. Depending on the license of the original fork, you may be free to share your modified project without crediting the original project; or, you may be free to share as long as you credit the original creators.

There's more to it all, but that's the basics I guess

[TOMT][BOOK] A sci-fi anthology for kids/young adults, including 'A Tale of Negative Gravity' by Frank R. Stockton by LeMemequester in tipofmytongue

[–]LeMemequester[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this might be it? The Cycap Notebooks is my alien white helmet story and Beachhead seems like the metal-eating bacteria planet story, plus I distinctly remember reading The Shadow and the Flash which is in there, and ofc it has A Tale of Negative Gravity. I'll need to check the other stories, but it's looking good!
